Future DLC Suggestions #8

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:10 pm

Here is a list of Ideas I have:
- A wearable backpack or dufflebag (unaffected by other apparel) , there are plenty of mods out there for the PC that have this but bringing it to the consoles might prove popular.
- A finely crafted, ornate patterned long sword or Katana. The absence of a proper sword was a bit of a bummer for me, since I prefer to get up close personal.
- A WWII model PPSH-41 using 556mm or 5mm rounds for convienence ( With a drum magazine Mod upgrade) , again there is a few mods out there with this but console players are missing out.
- A chainsword, perhaps a mod for a "Ripper" which makes the chainsaw blade slightly longer to match the length of a sword (Increase in damage or attack range). And Yes I am aware that the chainsword exists in Warhammer 40k aswell.
- The return of the Winchester P94 Plasma Rifle, the more portable version of the plasma caster with the three electromagnetic 'claws'. I feel slightly nostalgic everytime I think of this weapon in the previous Fallout games.

I apologise gabriel77dan for posting this as a seperate thread.

No worries, duplicates happen. :)

On your suggestions, I don't mind the chainsword, katana or WWII weapons but a backpack seems kinda unnecessary.
It would be good for those that want better immersion but it can't produce any other effects really.
The weight capacity we get from out STR is part of our invisible backpack.
Throwing on another backpack isn't going to give any +weight.
Example: Say you have a bag of 1 liter of water, now, you take a pitcher that holds 1 liter, this is the backpack, by holding this pitcher and pouring in the water does not mean that the weight that you are carrying has decreased, in fact, the pitched also weighs a little so it has in fact increased.
So if you hold 8 weightballs, each weighing 1 pound it means that they all weigh together 8 pounds, this is very clumsy to hold on the other hand, so by putting them in a backpack you get a greatly increased holding on the balls as they are all collected inside the bag instead of holding hem all in your arms.
So. Hmmm.
Maybe a backpack could give a -15% weight decrease on all items? (Not the total amount but -15% on each individual item.)
A bigger backpack would give -20%. (2 forms of backpacks.)
But increasing the weight capacity directly by putting on a backpack seems like very twisted logic to me.
But that's just my personal problem with the backpack idea. :P

The winchester P94 plasma rifle is already in the game though, it can be found at Silver Rush in Freeside Pt2.

I want a DLC that reopens the Lucky 38 as a active casino, you become the manager (owner if you killed House) and make upgrades to it and receive income.

I'd also like to go to New Canaan. See the Ciphers and meet Ulysses (this one is pretty much a given)

Personally, I want something that has a little bit more tech. Weapons would have to be more energy based, Broken Steel had given the Tesla Cannon, so how about a Tesla Rifle or Tesla Gatling Laser. I'd love to see the minor factions being incorporated with the 4 major factions. I personally want a devolopment with the BoS. But depending on your faction, for instance Caeser or General Lee Oliver give you a quest which grows, start it off investigating something and end up in some high tech U.S Bunker with better goodies. (I chose to become a BoS Paladin so perhaps you lead a strike force like in Anchorage.)
This DLC would actually be pretty easy to add in. ED-E could be the centerpoint to it, after all he did have some "neat info" in his data banks. One said something about the Hellfire armor. So how about a prototype of that armor being available.(A bit different look to it but keep it something that doesn't remind me of a birds face perhaps more of the Fallout 3 look) As mentioned before a Tesla based weapon. (We got the HoloRifle so how about a Gatling Laser or Machine Gun) And of course another follower would be nice. If it's a hightech bunker I don't see why we can't get a Sentry Bot or something. Though most crucial to any new DLC for New Vegas would be to add some new enemies and a development in the Mojave Wasteland. Bring in some SM Overlords, NightKin commanders, High ranking NCR and Legion troops, powder ganger and fiend improvements and something like the Enclave Hellfire troopers but with the BoS instead. It needs some guys that can give the Courier a fight. Raise cap 5 levels and add some dang perks too, I was disapointed that 28-35 yielded nothing.

Basically i'm getting at tech that resembles the year 2077(Year bombs fell), enemies to give us an actual challenge, a new follower. And some storyline devolopment like Broken Steel did it would be less of a change since it wasnt the typical "Fallout Ending". I want a big DLC I don't care if it costs me some money like that Dragon Age: Awakening. I'm talking something big that could take a title.. "DLC of the Year" or something. Sorry for the essay all. ^^

I wouldn't pay for a "weapon pack" DLC. Pointless, there are hundreds of them on the Nexus (obviously Xbox and PS3 owners might think they took tempting though).

Unless it added the weapons to enemies in the wastes I wouldn't really wanna buy it either.
Expanding my arsenal with weapons seems kinda unnecessary as I can kill just about everything with what I already have anyway.

I can see your point about the backpack, but I was thinking more along the lines of increased mobility with heavier weights and when over-encumbered, with maybe preserving the ability to fast travel whilst wearing it. Taking a perk to be able to fast travel when over-encumbered seems like a waste since you only get one perk every two levels. If carrying 20 + weapons, multiple layers of clothing and enough ammunition to serve a small army tucked under your combat armour isn't twisted logic then im sure a backpack couldn't hurt.

And I believe your thinking of the Plasma Caster, the one which you wield like a gattling laser. The P94 Plasma rifle is roughly the same size as the current plasma rifle and is held in the same position. (Like an assault rifle), It is similar to the plasma caster in that it has the same three claws at the end of the barrel. It's confusing because both go by the same name sometimes but the one im talking about appeared in Fallout: Tactics, which I know wasn't exactly true to the other Fallout games' lore. Im just saying that maybe it could appear as another "Unique" weapon.

Great Britain! Great DLC? Rolling hills of English wasteland!

So, every fallout game so far has taken place in south west united states (as far as I'm aware...).

But while NCR and the legion battle in vegas, and 1 bloke rebuilds Washington (hold up. That ain't south west), there's no mention of how Europe and Asia etc. are rebuilding in their homelands. Is London crumbling? Paris dans...le....le trouble? Spain in a nuclear siesta!? Has Australia been barbecued? (I've got a career In this...)

So, wouldn't it be cool to go explore the houses of parliament and have the London eye bobbing in the Thames. Now, I guess this is all pretty unlikely (and the first reply is probably gunna school me in why London never existed or something...) but still. :}

While I wouldn't mind Fallout in Great Britain I don't see how we're suppose to traverse over an entire continent then an entire ocean to get to it.

It's possible, but the Fallout creators really meant for the story to be in America... I guess it would be up to them to come up with what happened in the UK, Russia, China, et cetera...

I just want a DLC where you can carry one playing with all of your stuff so your can actually use the Blade of the East (sick weapon btw), maybe if you sided with the NCR you are an official NCR high ranking officer or something anything to continue playing. Also some more Alien Power Cell ammo caches would be nice

I suggest "inventory slot" which limit what player can carry. For example
- hand gun use 1 slot
- rifle use 3 slots
- big gun use 6 slots

- each hand provide 3 slots( perhaps in future we can use dual rifle? :P )
- belt provide 2 slot
- back provide 6 slots, with duffel bag provide 9 slots

I always feel weird that we can carry a lot of big gun like missile launcher and fat man, rifle and etc......although I always carry a lot of them :P

The character might be strong enough to carry such weight...but HOW is he/she carry them? 4 missile launcher at back? Each hand holding a minigun?

Since after completing DM you can get an extra perk for Veronica, i like this to happen for other companions after the completion of future DLC (but probably Obsidian already took this into consideration)

Okay, so, i was just sitting in my house, when i thought of this. Okay so, you know how NCR troopers always say "Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter" Well, what happens if there was a nuclear winter(btw this DLC would come out near Christmas time)and New Vegas' supplies are low and all the power is cut, so you need to go and find shipments of supplies in different places to get most of the citizens through the winter, i.e maybe your character has to travel to New Reno to get something to put the lights back on back in NV.

Just a thought, im new to this forum so bear with me:)

Copy pasted from your thread.

You do know what a Nuclear Winter is don''t you?

Nuclear Winter is essentially when the detonations of enough nuclear devices throws enough smoke, debris and soot into the atmosphere to completely block out the sun. Temperatures drop rapidly and the planet would be plunged into a several years long winter.

It's not a seasonal thing.
