How are the Legion a threat to the NCR again?

Post » Tue May 31, 2011 12:33 am

They will rot and squabble outside of Vegas.
Which i'm okay with, seeing as I'm going to side with House my latest playthrough..

gee, thanks martyr. :unsure2:

Fair enough, but, what its gonna happen to the NCR, in California?

The nation will grieve, and if House would rise to power, they'd likely blame New Vegas, placing a 4-5 year Embargo on Vegas, then slowly they'd get over themselves as the new president of the NCR tried to fix the economy Kimball's blowhard behavior so arrogantly ruined.

All this squabble. This is why I support House, and not NCR or Legion

I honestly hope the CL whips East-coast BoS (D.C. Carebears at least.) ass by killing them and taking over washington.

:verymad:

No offense, but when you say that you sound like a butthurt troll from NMA.

Is there a reason you want a genuine force for good (or at least more white than grey) to be massacred by an army of slavers and slaves, logically speaking.

Because some people keep thinking the BoS in F3 is misrepresented, but the game gives a reason why thier not isolationist technofetishists like the Western BoS. Personally I enjoyed the White Knight BoS soldiers.

If the Legion went eastward and encountered the East BoS, the Bros would just laugh at them... and then do another strafing run with their Vertibirds' LaserGats. With some mini-nuke bombs thrown in for effect.

What's the Legion's counter to air superioity? Lever-action rifles? Spears? :lmao:

The Legion use a Howitzer for ground troops. You don't think they would use an AA gun if they found one? To think that the Legion is only limited to the weapons that they are shown wielding in the game is a blatant display of ignorance.

Well the Legion DOES have that Howitzer at The Fort, but it may just be because that trader they work with delivered it special for them as they said.

Same could be said for the BoS against the Enclave. They never should have won that battle. They could barely hold off the SM's.

A howitzer is stationary.

Vertibirds are highly mobile.

They still can be shot down by small arms. I know I did plenty of times with a easy to find Assault rifle.

Well, if we're gonna integrate gameplay mechanics into it, the plentiful amount of heavy guns that every other Bro seems to be armed with in FO3 would make mincemeat of the otherwise superior Legion numbers, especially since NPCs have infinite ammo and most Legionnaire meat are just armed with a machete and maybe spears.

which fallout? took a tesla cannon in Fallout 3, and assuming that the physics from Fallout 3 remain with the east coast than they'd be invinsible. At the end of F3 BoS east was pretty much the [censored]

Which makes killing Lanius and Caesar all the more awesome: knowing that the power vacuum will turn the legion into warring clans and effectively destroy them as a power in places like Arizona and New Mexico in a matter of months.

Exactly why I make sure to get them both rather than talk Lanius into leaving.....without Caesar and his lieutenants his Empire will rip itself apart. If Lanius, Lucius, or Inculta survive they could hold it together so they all must die.

A defeat in Vegas for the NCR would finalize any future war efforts in that region for the NCR. Any modern democracy would not support future war efforts after such a catastrophic failure. Although a generalization democracies are highly ineffectual because they depend so heavily on the support of the public, it is why the Legion could fail ten times over to take the dam and continue to engage with the NCR. One defeat for the NCR is all it takes to send them home running. I would imagine the NCR has invested a ludicrous amount of resources into vegas as well as bases outside the vegas area. Think of it this way

Imagine:

President Kimbell dying to an assassination
The complete destruction of nearby NCR armies
NCR caravan and supply lines cut off
A Legion controlled vegas

Even the bureaucrats that supported this mess will count their losses, and never think about it again.

A defeat at the Dam wouldn't be an end...it is just the beginning. Caesar intends to prosecute the War until either he is defeated or the Last leaders of the NCR are led in chains down the Strip in his Triumph celebrating the conquest of the NCR then crucified. If the NCR is driven out of the Dam, and the Mojave, the next campaign will be against the NCR itself. Not only will the NCR be dealing with the loss of the Dam, and it's electricity, but with Legion raids into the NCR proper as he looks for a weakness to exploit. this would rightly be blamed on Kimball, and he would likely be voted out and his successor would find his/herself in a fight for the NCR's very survival.

Nope I shot down the Vertibirds in FO3 while they dropped off troops at there little strong points. (I don't have BS.) You shot them, the start to smoke, then explode. If you do it before they land the troops the troops don't appear obviously. You can shoot them down with guns, missiles, anything.

If by the [censored], you mean still whipped out by the new enemies added by BS then yeah they are pretty crappy. :P

As far as I remember ECBOS has "one" vertibird.
And most of their soldiers use assault rifles or laser rifles, not gatling lasers or mininukes.
Besides.
If Legion were to attack ECBOS I'm sure the super mutants, raiders, Outcasts, Talon Company and Enclave Remnants would take the opportunity to attack them as well.
They might not be in an alliance with Legion, but they have the same goals, which would mean the end of ECBOS.

Mid western Brotherhood could whip all their butts, due to being actually trained in combat tactics other than crouch and shot, or run and punch.
Not to mention supermutant BoS members, among many other weird and wonderfull recruitment choices.

Having seen the MQ from CL's, House' / Yes mans / NCR's perspective I would say based on radio reports and tactics in field House would win due to superior planning and his choice of troops.

Of the NCR vs CL, CL again based on their tactics and the radio reports, I may not like the idea but it's the most likely outcome imo.

CL vs EC BoS, the BoS would win, due to an amazingly strong foothold and vastly superior equipment and supply chain based on the end game.

ECBOS is at war with more than just Legion.
Others would take the opportunity to attack them as well.
ECBOS is in fact surrounded by enemies
Only reason they aren't attacked is because...Well... ECBOS are very powerful....
But if Legion were to stroll into town and attack them they would leave windows open for Outcasts to get revenge on them for destroying a one of a kind robot, Prime, Raiders would seize the opportunity to attack them for valuable stuff to sell for chems or upgrade their own defenses with, Super Mutants would have a chance to finally attack them and destroy the puny humans, Talon Company would have their chance to finally take out the most major faction in CW and cause more anarchy.

But if we're going to be really blunt with it then yes, if Legion and ECBOS were to face each other "without" outside interference then ECBOS would win.

You're true with the support they would, however Gabriel.

Mutties would spend more time enslaving CL, and unless CL became ghouls a tasty snack option at worst.
If the Mutties developed brains within the 10 - 15 years or more if CL decided to cross over to the EC, maybe and then as seen in Fawks the choice of good is still an option.
You could say CL could enslave them of giant spearheads, but the tech the BoS would wind up with and the actuall highly defensive areas around the capitol would be an issue.
As they had even when the EC BoS were at their weakest, that and the mutants on that coast would just be dire allies especially if enslaved by a hummie.

Outcasts are still BoS just as the EC BoS are, they either made their way back to the west, or continued their mission.
Prime was severely injured not lost forever, and the fact they got him working and gained vast ammounts of resources and tech in the progress.
Is worth several points in the EC BoS' favour.
The Outcasts would not side with CL, just as CL would not side with the Outcasts, especially not over the EC BoS, for obvious reasons in both games.
At best they would remain neutral, at worst they would provoke both sides as a complete independent not a ally of either side.

Raiders may, but something tells me there would be few left over the years after the events in FO3.

Talon company I can say yes you're right, money talks, but with no threat to the EC BoS left and most areas stablising they most likely would be weaker, or have moved on to freasher grounds.

No despite any flaws with FO3' ending the good ( most likely canon ) endings leave little room for the "bad guy" factions in the game imo.

Outcasts, not saying they would side with CL, but think about it, Outcasts value technology above all else, what does ECBOS do? They blow up Raven Rock, filled with Tech, send Prime, a one of a kind robot to his death and then blow up Crawler, another place filled with tech.
Outcasts might not want to "kill" the entire ECBOS but they sure as hell aren't happy about what they have done.
So I think that they would take the chance to take control over the ECBOS when they had the chance.

But I don't think that raiders are gone at all.
ECBOS has already been there for a long time during FO3 and raiders are still the major population of CW.
Things might have calmed down a little but CW is raiders lands. :mohawk:
