I spent my first couple of years primarily in the Oblivion forums - I felt pretty comfortable there, there were a bunch of "regulars" and we would joke around behind the scenes. This is an easy forum to get along in... by the time I even noticed CD, a year into my membership, I didn't feel uncomfortable posting in a topic where I didn't "know" any of the other posters. Some people move on but there's always new members to get familiar with. {{Group Hug!!!}} **
** Does not actually mean I like to, or want to, hug people
I'm not really sure how long it took for me to start recognising individuals. I don't think it took too long, probably a couple of weeks to a month or so. It was a long time ago now so a lot of people have come and gone since then, but I recognise the majority of the regular posters in CD.
Well, settled as in recognizing people easily than I got that before I left for a while. So about 4 months? Give or take a month. Now actually feeling comfortable here I'm still iffy.

I feel uncomfortable here- like if someone shoved an iron spike into my spine. I feel like I'm about to get stabbed in the back and have to constantly be on the lookout.
I joined in the Morrowind forums and there was a great crowd of members there so it didn't take long to settle in, fun times. When I was made up to be a mod I was relatively unknown outside the MW forums - I think that has changed now.
Even Akinator knows you.
This forum is like my internet home. It's pretty much the first and last thing I check when I'm on my PC. It's a great place. I have no idea how long it took for me to get 'settled in' but I'm guessing it was when I started visiting the GamingSource Nexus forums less. Because most of the modding magic happens here.
And for consistency I'm sticking with this avatar.

I can't seem to get rid of this place, so I tend to hang around like a bad smell. I do remember when we had a totally different set of regulars here, and I think I remember seeing a lot of you newer people post the first couple of times.
I joined in 2007, but I lurked around as a guest since late 2005. It took me a while before I started to post often. I look at people's avatar and I know who they are instantly for the most part. Or their sig. I hang around here way too much. Always have atleast 6-7 tabs open in different subforums. Edit-Also I assume Im easy to remember always having an AMD/ATI avatar or my PC specs in my sig.
I've been here a few days short of a year now, and I feel like I'm just getting to the stage where I can match most people's names to their avatars, and some of their locations and ages and stuff. I also remember the names of almost all of the mods, and know my way around pretty well. I think a few people are starting to remember me as well. How long did it take you guys to reach this stage? Have you even reached it yet?

Yeah, you're one of those easy ones to remember, both because of the avatar and because I know you as one of BGSF's tech gurus. Oh, and I envy you so much. I'd kill to have a computer like that.
When I first started coming to these forums about..7 years ago or so, it took a while. But since then I've made quite a few friends, some of which don't even venture here anymore.

Honestly, I got most of my knowledge of tech from here or people referencing to different sites (Toms Hardware, Anandtech.com). Thanks, it took a lot of money to build this PC ($3000+) for hardware alone. But so worth it.
I knew a lot about MW cheats and workarounds back in the day so it was easy for me to jump right in. I felt comfortable almost immediately. Come to think of it, I miss a lot of them folks too. I know so few of these young whippersnappers anymore.
