Well you know, as long as the child that plays can decipher the difference between a game and real life, he is A-ok in my opinion. For others, I really wanna punch people that think joining the military will be as easy as Call of Duty. Oh what that game has done to some kids.

i know a guy who wants to join the marines and become sniper cause they saw a movie about a marine sniper.

also alot of people i know want to join the military because they played COD. one said something along the lines of " i want to be the guys who controls the predator missile

We need to start our own Ol' Farts Club or something. I'm beginning to get a little intimidated by all this raging youth.

Pffft...experience and treachery trumps youth and vigor every time. :celebration:

Besides- is it not encouraging that we've got such a wide range all interested in the same thing? Means there's hope for...well, one of the extremes- although it might be debatable which, now that I think about it a bit.. ;)

See now that is just a stupid reason to join (Its up there with playing CoD and wanting to be in the Marines because of that), I myself want to go into the Military partly because its kind of a heritage thing at this point. (Great-Grandfathers served in WWII, Grandfather served in Vietnam, My Dad is currently serving in the U.S. Navy) Its also just what I want to do with my life of course I'm going to College first, I've always felt the Military to be my destiny for some reason. :tops:

Me?
Well...
I started playing Fallout 3 at 12 years old......
Now, i'm 13 years old...
So what? :)
In my country, those ESRB ratings are not enforced.
It's the parent's job to monitor what their children is playing
I'm okay with blood, and gore, but i'm not okay with nudity....
My parents allowed me to play FO3, and i don't copy the swearing, the killing, and many more in this game, so, i'm okay...
Look, i may be a youngster, but i can hold myself and i don't copy the brutal content, OK?
To me, the only thing that matter is>> I :fallout:

To be honest, the thing I love about this forum is that the younger crowd 14-17 don't sit there and go 'OMG DIS GAEM LEET WE NEEDZ DA TANKS AND URBANZ CAMO!!!111111111!' Everyone here comes from so many nationalities and ages and cultures, and yet we all act like decent human beings. :foodndrink:

Nothin' new, this sort of silliness occurs in any and all generations. A guy I graduated high school with joined the National Guard because...

wait for it...

..."so I can get me one'a them cool National Guard license plates."

No kidding.

Sorry if it's now off-topic but I just wanted to say that though there are a lot of young players here please don't change the way you talk or the way you think because of that. I think if we are playing an "M" game and actually enjoying it for what it is and not just the mindless violence then we can be mature enough to talk in the same language. I think the whole cussing "oo's" and "oh the humanity's" are unnecessary from parents and I'm glad my parents don't care about such minor things as a few colorful words.

Lol, I like how 35% of the people who play the game aren't technically old enough to even buy it :grad:

FalloutFTW you are an example of what the modern generation should be, narrative is a lost art.

Although, my user name says otherwise.

I do think that some younger gamers, who stick exclusively to shooters, should branch out and try some RPGs. Who knows, maybe some of them will end up liking games like Deus Ex(which has been siting in my Steam Library for quite a while, unfortunately).

I'll have a week left once NV is out, then I'll be in my fourth decade of life.

Well, that's how mature titles go. Most ain't mature, just gloriously gory - and who is more impressed by effects than boys trying to be men? I'm pretty sure NV will be more mature than F3 at any rate.

Hey now, I'm 14 and I want this game because of the story! :P

Huh. I thought you were older. You always seemed more intelligent in your posts than what I'd expect from a 14 year old.

Yeah, I really detest games being used as recruitment tools like America's Army. And it gives kids a totally unrealistic view of war and the military. I've even seen kids try and argue with me that they know more about military weapons than I do (as a former Marine!) because they have played "all the COD games, and the weapon doesn't work like that". I walk away, because if I didn't, I would punch a poor child in the face, which is no more acceptable than cursing in front of them. :meh:

Oh, how I hated doing recruitment or helping with it when I was in!

See now that is just a stupid reason to join (Its up there with playing CoD and wanting to be in the Marines because of that), I myself want to go into the Military partly because its kind of a heritage thing at this point. I joined partly because my family had a military legacy going all the way back to the Revolutionary War. All them were Army though, so even if I wasn't going to be the first to break military tradition by not serving, I joined the Marines, much to the consternation of my father and grandfather! It was totally the swords that sold me. Why join a branch of military that doesn't give you a sword? :hubbahubba: You know, among other things.

Its because of the game and genre i believe. A more mature game requires a mature gamer. back in the late 80s and 90s young kids played RPGs all the time it seemed, not any more it. Alas I blame the greed of the gaming Industry and the racket that is Ritalin/ADD.
