Idea to balance fast travel

Don't worry about other people, only worry about yourself... you'll sleep better at night that way.

THATS MY POINT. Its not a problem to them, because most people dont know theyre missing out, lol. They dont know if they should care or not.

If not using fast travel works for you, I'm not telling you what to do. However, no matter the situation, I have a problem when someone tries to do things for me "for my own good.". You are not my priest or my mom. It's my game. You don't get to tell me how to play something that I bought with my own money.

How is it dictating your game? In that theory, endurance, health, etc all dictate your game... This would be another form of in-game limitation.

If were arguing that, then they should give us the freedom to have unlimited health, and/or limited health... RIGHT?

they have that already... TGM.. for pc users.. and Enchanting for console users.. i have the freedom to use fast travel where when and how i want..

I dont want to get rid of it altogether, I want it to be limited based on sleep/endurance. Just a theory that would improve exploration and give FT users the option to use it freely.

Yeah, it was just an idea. Though, an internet game forum is probably the worst place to bring thoughts, lol.

What? Your priest or mom?

I'm not telling you anything, I'm saying I have an idea that would help FT users use FT freely, but also encourage them to explore as well.

I use fast travel, lol.

Ill reiterate again... I dont want to get rid of it altogether, I want it to be limited based on sleep/endurance. Just a theory that would improve exploration and give FT users the option to use it freely, just finding a bed to "regain rest" when you have fast traveled too much.

I love how people think Im attacking their child, lol.

This does not encourage me to explore any more than the current system :/ you know, where you have to explore places on order to fast travel to them.

I feel like a lot of people lose a main part of the game(exploring, random encounters) by only using fast travel as a means to get to a location.

I think it's great that you're sharing ideas without actually [censored]ing about a game mechanic. Just keep in mind that not everybody wants the same things in a game.

Nah, Fast Travel is fine as it is. Sure, it takes away immersion and exploration, but there are many people that aren't even interested in that and just want to finish some quests or something. RIght now you still have the option to never use Fast Travel at all, or use Fast Travel all the time. By taking Fast Travel away you are forcing people to explore, and that will only lead to frustration. I don't think you really need alternatives either, just leave it like this.

Edit: Just saw Kamirose's post, and he makes a good point: exploration is already pretty much forced because you have to discover a location first before you can Fast Travel to it.

Eh, I guess I just want an ounce of feeling like I'm role-playing. I need a PC.

I'm not taking it away! lol... I just thought a system that still lets FT users use FT abundantly, but also add a layer of realism/limitation like a lot of RPGs, would be beneficial.

I know, but I'm thinking for the better for the population who never explores, and sees the random encounters, and misses a lot of the game. Sure its their perogative, but I'm sure many newcomers are naive to this, and find walking for hours boring, and poointless when FT is the main option the game throws at you.

What do you care about how other people experience the game? How about instead, you offer a suggestion to people to choose to try not Fast Traveling as for you it has been beneficial in enhancing your gameplay experience, instead of wanting the game to change to force people to do it? This is akin to how they wanted to Restrict player time online for Final Fantasy or put in mechanisms to encourage players to take a break because their characters would not gain XP after a certain time. It is not their place to dictate and not your place to dictate how someone plays a game or what is good for them or not. Plenty of people disagree with smoking or drinking too but prohibition wasn't that great of an idea eh chief?

Well, as I just edited into my earlier post, you are still forced to first explore a location before you can FT to it. That way, if you need to get from, say, Riften to Ivarstead, you have to walk that route at least once, and with that you explore all landscape in between. I think that is Bethesda's attempt to get people into exploring, and if that fails to work, those people can just FT. I don't think limitation would work, some players, like I said, just log on an hour a day or something, and don't want to 'waste' half of their time walking from place A to place B.

I don't understand this obsession people have over how others use the fast travel function.

People who don't fast travel spend a lot more time thinking about fast traveling than people who do...I have really not had sleepless nights over all the possible encounters I may have missed between Solitude and Whiterun because I fast travelled, your concern for my game enjoyment is touching, but I believe that I as a fully grown and well-informed advlt can make that decision myself...

I wonder why people like to say that other people are missing out by fast traveling. I use fast travel extensively an between my characters I've probably been to 95% of the locations on the map.

It's all the things between locations you're missing out on. All the randomness, encounters and stuff.

Excuse me while I laugh. You mean like the wolf encounters? Or bears? Or Dragons for the 2 billionth time? Maybe two Mages dueling? Maybe an Orc walking on the road? The "random" encounters are pathetic.

You are wanting to restrict others gameplay because you feel they will have a greater experience. If you don't like it, you can mod or use FT sparingly. Do you know how upset people like you would be if all of the changes I would want to see implemented for ME were put in and forced everyone to play it that way? You guys would all cry it was too hard...Respect others play the game different;y than you do. You are not "right" to not use FT or use it occasionally. There is no wrong or right way to play Skyrim.

This list is what Bethesdas game design, has encouraged millions not to have seen.

You do realize most of those are quest triggers right? Lol...Please I have explored everything and walked all over the random encounters and open world content leave a lot to be desired. The majority of the "content" comes in when you are in a dungeon or instance.
