London Riots

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:25 pm

Since no one's yet taken the trouble to actually ask these people why they're rioting (three days of fire now, and all I've heard on the radio or TV are police, politicians and concerned bystanders) I'm gonna withhold my judgement on their causes...
this is probably the best thing to do. (though personally i am already eager to blame some people and agree with some of what already been said... now to try and make this initially formed judgement go away, hopefully, and find a way to remain objective... note, i said nothing out loud yet... filtering through and not sticking with a particular bad thought(s) and attitude(s) of heart is harder than i thought it'd be. :( (your posts helps with that though, so thanks :) )

The reaction from the English government has been far too slow, when buildings start getting burnt down it's time for martial law.

Pretty much this. It really saddens me to see all these people burning and looting mindlessly. They must have had a really [censored] up upbringing to resort to this sort of activity.

What I see here are some people acting like beasts who decided to use the peaceful march for their own pleasure and means to enjoy destroy and looting. Which is sad really, having to resort to this.

Those who protest peacefully, I don't mind them. It's in their rights. But the rest who vandalize and burn instead of actually protesting...that's only worsening the situation and won't provide anything.

It's not "they".
It's "that constable guy" who doesn't speak for the authorities or other officials but rather said his own opinion. Big difference. ;)

Anything can kill, I dont care, fire kills. Thos epeople keep lighting them. So either they stop burning or the police start shooting.

Innocent until proven otherwise, we can see them llighting fires, throwing rocks and looting. Hmmm we need more evidence, becuase clearly seeing them isnt enough.
I am not sure you understanding how Britian works. Even if you are in a position of authority you aren't meant to just shoot people who have not intention of causing you major harm. I think you may be confusing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syria and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_of_Great_Britain_and_Northern_Ireland

I think throwing rocks, molotovs, what have you, is plenty enough intention to cause major harm. At the very least it should be tear gas time at that point.

I meant the west, when I said we. Ok the US killed binladen. But several other countries (including the US and UK) are going to kill those who are inspired by him.

Better option ?

Yeah, because the war in Afghanistan has been going about just as well for the USA as shooting rioters has worked out for Khadaffi.

This is what the European society is falling to: people have everything and don't need to do anything so they start inventing flaws in their rather fine societies and need a way to express their boredom. And for some reason the only way to do so is vandalism and setting stuff on fire. I would say that most are in it just for the violence.

To slow and weak. The police need more powers for times like this.

I suggested the army, the mear presence of the armed forces may be enough to stop the rioters and if it's not to shoot one of them or two of them until they realise (and they will realise very quickly) who is in charge. The rioters are cowards, they are attacking the police and innocent people because they are under the impression they will get away with it and to be honest it looks like they are. I have seen plenty of police programmes here in the UK where you have chavs swearing and being very abusive towards the police, the reason for this is because they know the police can't touch them. If the police were to hurt them (poor little flowers they are) it would be the cop up in the dock and not the scum bag he was tryig to sort out in the first place.

I here on the BBC news this morning thay they are considering bringing in the army, God news Good news.
