That's all well and good to say when you're not on the receiving end, or when no-one dies from injuries sustained. But of course bricks certainly have the potential to kill, and whatever the intent of the thrower that will make no difference to the unfortunate person killed by such a thrown object (or to their bereaved families). Anyway, that's only the half of it- the torching of private commercial and residential premises is the particularly dark side of this breakdown. There may have been no mention of any deaths so far, but I would be very surprised if no-one does in fact die as a result of these arson attacks- many of these shops have residential apartments above them, and if an exit is blocked and the emergency services can't get to a burning building in time...I dread to think.
It's not even just London though- there have now been reports that the city of Birmingham has experienced some rioting and looting of shops as well. This isn't protest, this isn't meant to send a message- it is spite, greed and terror. Period.
