Low-Res Textures if you install to hardrive? (Xbox360)

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 1:55 am

I'll be installing to the HDD as soon as I get it home because there isn't any issues to begin with.

The Xbox HDD is slow anyway. You are best off getting a fast memory stick and installing it on that - any game. Looks like a texture streaming issue to me. Black Ops had it, but they didn't fix it.

Already tested that and found it to be no quicker.

what is weird is that everything else in that picture is better in the first pic, like the trees and such.

ummm. I am going to NOT be so optimistic. I have seen gameplay on version 1.0 of Skyrim on the 360. It looks fine no doubt, but after playing for awhile you start to notice the quality of textures. The sword being one of them, nearly every screen shot of the weapon in hand was from PC , play on Xbox and seen with your own eyes the sword is low resolution. They didn't tell us which images were from which console for a reason. Just wait, those that have their copies, this complaint will rise greatly.

The yellow/orange barrel is actually higher-res in the high-res picture if you look closely.

But I don't want to base this too much on the pictures.

Photoshopped pictures. Everything is fine. Don't worry! :) and just so you know there is a patch coming out on day one! :) :tes:
Where is the proof that the pictures are photoshopped?

On the other hand I would also like to say that the comparison pictures prove one thing and one thing only. They prove that one picture has better textures than the other picture. Any other conclusion drawn from those pictures is nothing more than conjecture. They most certainly don't prove why there is a difference in the pictures. They also don't address the other countless variables or combination of variables that could be causing such an issue. Or if there even is an actual issue with the game to begin with.

This insane speculation needs to stop. We've heard nothing from Bethesda on this.

Sir Drake, thank you very much for recommending Geogaf. The articles there convinced me that it is a repeatedly observed effect. I will not be installing Skyrim on my HDD on Day 1 unless Beth addresses it. I'm not complaining, these things seem to happen to TES games, they're very ambitious. I remember signing out and signing in to my xbolive account so that floor switches would start working again in OB. Still put hundreds of awesome hours into OB. There is almost always a work-around and if not, always a patch around the corner.

How will you know if the day 1 patch fixed it or not without installing the game and playing for a few hours? Hopefully there's an announcement.

I love the fact there can be complaints by people who haven't played a game and the game hasn't even launched yet.

Wonderful. I'll hold off until I see an actual reviewer post something first hand not "so and so random user who may or may not have a pirated copy took these fuzzy screen shots..."

I'm confused. I thought you said the problems were fake? So you are getting the streaming problems or not? You have the game, yes?
It depends on the memory stick. The really fast ones are really expensive. The others are pretty meh or crap.

Denial of...

?

Do you have a 360 copy loaded to your HDD right now?

Do you know people who do?

Because I do...

Denial of the issue, of course! Perhaps you do, perhaps they clear their cache every now and then or haven't accumulated one large enough, yet. Regardless, this issue is existent.

And again until I see or here confirmation from people other than random internet goers (and the game is actually released...) it is a complete non-issue. Everything i've heard and read (and been texted...) by people who have actually played the game on 360 said it looks great and they haven't had any issues.

Installing a game makes it run better. This is simply a fact.

Apparently memory sticks fix this, like I said before. Have you read the same as me on this? I wish MS or Sony (or is that fixed on PS3 now) would allow the use of NTFS instead of the slow FAT32. Anyway MS svck sometimes.

People do the same thing when something supposedly doesn't have anti-aliasing or run at a sub-HD resolution, or something. Just because people don't care about, shrug off, or don't notice blurrier textures doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist... and how many 360 players even install games to their hard drives? This is by no means an insult (I'm a console player), but most console players don't really have a clue about the inner workings of their platform or of the tech that drives computer-generated graphics nor do they often seem to, you know, care all too much. It's not because the reality of an issue isn't there, it's that people are passive and apathetic towards them, oftentimes.

Typically yes, but that fact has obviously been up for debate as far as Skyrim goes.

Memory sticks? PS3? We use HDDs... like real gamers! :P

As long as its 2.5", the PS3 is perfectly compatible with most HDDs and SSDs.

so how do you download patches on the xbox? is it the updates that come up when you put in a new game, or is it something ill have to search for and download?
sorry if it has been asked, im not exactly computer savvy , as the magic window box usually just piss's me off.
OT, i hope if this is true that it is resolved soon. :brokencomputer:

They just auto download yes; when you boot up a game. It will disconnect you from Xbox Live, download the patch and then re-connect you to Live.
