Low-Res Textures if you install to hardrive? (Xbox360)

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:50 pm

I don't think Bethesda would let it go.. if theres a patch day 1 to fix it, it'll all be fine.

Oblivion started on the 360 lest we forget. Also why they're advertising it more for 360 for that very reason. (And also why 360 is getting DLC BEFORE PS3). Which they should be lucky they got to play Oblivion without having to switch..

We'll have to wait and see but I haven't heard any problems from people who actually have the game.. ([censored]s...)

I live in Belgium, got the copy yesterday and can assure you the issue is definitely there. This has also been confirmed by several of my friends who installed the game to the hdd.

The game officially launches in two days. Despite some people getting the game early, that doesn't change. If there's an obvious bug like that, then it will be patched. Anyway, I don't think the low-resolution looks that bad, but maybe that's because I still play games on my Super Nintendo, and am now playing on my Grandpa's Atari 2600.

As a 360 buyer I hope this gets sorted ASAP, but it's still weird to me that this specific type of panic can even exist nowadays.

"OMG the game isn't out yet but based on early pirated leak footage there's a texture glitch. Quick, someone create a new twitter account for the sole purpose of spamming the company's VP of marketing with badgering complaints! Oh Noes! He's playing soccer the rest of the day and then hanging out with his children! And I know these facts somehow! What are we to do without an immediate response! Burn the place down!"

Get the PC version and wait for a modder to fix it.....and fix the rest of the bugs Bethesda will ignore with the unofficial patch.

Another problem people are overlooking is that even if you play off the disc, the textures are still screwed up for scenery.

What casts FURTHER worry on the issue, is Bethesda's negligence to release a proper patch for Oblivion on 360 around the time of Fallout 3's release, when they actually knew how to make a game work on console. Playing Oblivion on console is comparable to fishing in the desert. It does not work properly in the over world, where you spend the majority of time exploring. God FORBID they don't fix this issue.

I also wish I could magic up a PC or PS3 on a minimum wage Mcjob, while living on my own, like some of you can. Not everyone has money for this. Do the less fortunate not deserve to play a complete game?

Not going to have to. The problem is due to the caching systems interaction with installation. Wont be the case for PC.

Noah slaps you across the face, and shakes you vigorously. "Pull yourself together man! THERE...WILL...BE...A...PATCH!"

Did you know that not that long ago, video games were made out of text; no pictures what so ever! Before that, fantasy games were on...paper and required a great deal of imagination?

Giant games like these are bound to have a few bugs.

And women used have no rights and all their possessions were owned by the man upon marriage. The past is never a justification for the present. Theodore Roosevelt funded museums because he thought that learning from the past would prevent our doom from repeating it.

Granted, that's extremely dramatic, but we are supposed to evolve. I, and many other, come to expect a certain amount of quality form a 2011 game we spend our hard earned money for.

EDIT: A few NPC's floating, I don't care. But when every close up object looks like a solid color....a line has to be drawn....

Bad business model would be no patch. Patching bugs is a developer being good. I'm not going to get up in arms about this just yet.

That... and that the 360's textures aren't supposed to be as they are with the HDD installation and the real textures are there on the disc and meant to be used but aren't, for some reason.

Yeah, and beyond that, when you play off the disc, textures for the environment are worse, while your Player Character looks fine. Reverse on HDD....its a cluster[censored].

Don't argue irony with me, I'm explaining a rational fear. I'm not claiming the game is ruined, I;m saying there's a serious issue that's preventing the game form perfection that needs to be addressed and fixed.

They aren't even all screens... one is taken with a camera (one not posted here for some reason) at an identical, crooked angle... with no time stamp...

But hey it's much more believable that the textures look awful with backwards logic...

wasn't the exact same screen, he saved/turn off install and started up again.

If you look closely you would notice that the location message is not showing up on one pic.

You know what I find odd? Denial to the point of making up bs despite an impending wall of factual evidence simply because either "loyalty" to the company known as Bethesda (loyalty... company... doesn't match), submissive consumerist tendencies, and/or an inability to face the reality of a given situation is present and demands that one dismisses repeated evidence with nonsense because a consumer product crafted by the hands of human beings must be perfect no matter what and it must be defended as such. I find it very odd... and I'll bet it's frustrating for those actually affected when people dismiss their claims and reality as nonsense without so much as a shred of counter-argumentative evidence disproving multiple claims and repeated physical evidence. Ask yourself why people would go to such lengthy extents as to make up and propagate such a thing with such sincere concern were it not true.

Also, there's more than one comparison pic. The most damming of which certainly does not match up perfectly.

exactly there is more then one, so it is a real issue there is several sties that have folks who have came across said issue. It's not fake, Day 1 patch may or may not fix it we won't know until day 1 if it does then great, if not I wouldn't install in HDD if I were you.

But as I said, it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't issue. Either way we're losing visual oompf somewhere, dramatically.

I heard the "fix" for in the patch is that Beth has made the disc textures look washed out like the hdd textures are due to the way the game caches and loads. People will just think the washed out textures are normal, install the game to their hdd, see no change, and pat Beth on the back and say good job!!
