Yesss you rule. Also, Watchtower's Control and Resistance is [censored] crucial. I also highly recommend Mekong Delta in general, and I'm currently checking Toxik out on youtube, and they are blowing my mind.

Mekong Delta is a band I've been meaning to check out for ages....might do that right now. What's a good place to start with them?

My favorites are The Music of Erich Zann and Kaleidoscope. The latter has some pretty weak tracks, including and awful Genesis cover, but the good tracks are spectacular.

Cool, I'll have a look around and see If I can buy them this weekend. Cheers!

bump back to page 1 with some more ugliness...

bestial warlust - vengeance war til death
more insane australian warmongers. (in case you couldn't tell..)

death yell - morbid rites
old school black death from santiago chile.
some of the riffing sounds like a bad trip.
in a good, insanely shredding sort of way..

goat seman - devotos del diablo
ridiculously harsh black death from lima peru..
their vocalist is a total wild man.. highly recommended

repulsion - horrified
this is a classic.. extreme relentless attack.

death strike - [censored]in' death
also essential.
pure aggression from the dudes who went on to form master.

the battle rages on.. :gun:

Since im in the Metal thread i though i'd ask for some recommendations. Ive been looking for some Thrash lately, i think ive exhausted all the larger bands like Slayer, Kreator and Megadeth, and the only newer band that really do it for me are Municipal Waste. Any recommendations for less popular old skool thrash? Cheers.

Anyone here not like operatic vocal styles like early Candlemass, Iced Earth, etc? My friends completely hate the vocal styles of those kind of things where the vocals are lower and more operatic, and won't even listen to artists that use those kind of vocals. I just don't really get their point of view, but I really couldn't care less what they think about those styles of vocals. To me, it's their loss, but does anyone else not like those kind of vocals?

Technically, Speckman founded Master first, then Master broke up or went on hold, then he started Death Strike.

MEKONG DELTA TALK HAPPENED HERE!

As far as Mekong Delta is concerned, I prefer their S/T LP to anything else...but it's partially due to familiarity.

My post with around 45 short reviews, links, etc. for stuff I've picked up recently should be coming soon for anyone interested in my metal opinions (and that should be all of you...), possibly by the end of this coming weekend.

I've got this album pre ordered but listened anyway.

It's actually very good. The clean vocals mixed with the repetitive mesmerizing guitars is divine. And the bass.

Maiden will release a new album this autumn.Although it will probably feature some killer tracks,I am more excited by the tour for the album.
BTW,does anyone here like Accept or Running Wild? The best classic metal bands IMHO,along with Maiden,Priest,Sabbath,Dio and Saxon.

We got played some Sabaton in history once (long story), some kid in my class likes them, but it was the first time I'd heard them. God their cringeworthy. Not bvad, just not something I'd listen to within 100 meters of anyone else.

Balls to the Wall man. Thats a metal anthem.

Just put some Danzig, Emperor, and Bathory on ym Ipod.

Man, The Golden Walls of Heaven is an amazing song.

Just found a sick video of In Flames performing Dead God in Me+The Jester Race live in Lisabergshallen. Really sick video.

Notice how the crowd is hyped up until Jester Race starts, and everyone just starts going insane and jumping up and down. Would have loved to be there. Too bad Jesper left though. :(

oh yep. got me on that one. some of those songs were supposed to be master songs, but they couldn't find a guitarist. then split, & speckman did death strike. after the demo, schmidt jumped back on drums, and they switched back to master. then they went back and forth a few times.. lol. sorta confusing with those two. either way, the death strike tracks definitely rip.

cancer "to the gory end" is another good one, sorta in that same vein.

one of my good buddies from back in ohio has been real busy with his band http://www.myspace.com/prosanctusinferi.
supposed to be working with paul ledney on an upcoming release.
sounds similar to the profanatica/havohej sound, but a bit more articulate, & a little more pissed off.

profanatica - "weeping in heaven"
havohej - "dethrone the son of god"

some of the same songs since it's the same dude.. but havohej has a more rotten sound.
i also really liked the profanatica tracks on "trampling the holy faith" with goatsodomy, nuclear desecration, and unholy crucifix.. pretty good split.

I love Havohej and Profanatica.

Have you checked out http://theroyalarchblaspheme.hellsheadbangers.com/ yet? It's got John Gelso (of Profanatica), and Imperial (of Krieg). It's pretty great stuff...and the LP should be out in April I think.

Been reading that 'Swedish Death Metal' book recently (its pretty damn good, too), and at the back there's an A-Z of Swedish death metal bands (and a few black and thrash ones as well), but the best entry has to be for 'Sado Bastardos':

This book lists a lot of obscure and pointless bands, but this wayward lot from Uppsala is without a doubt one of the strangest, sickest, and most mind-blowing of all. This extreme grind outfit rehearsed regularly for two years in the mid-90's and, according to bassist Robin, a violent fight between band members broke out during every single rehearsal. Notably, when Robin came up with the idea of a song that included a non-grind part, he immediately got his nose broken by the vocalist! When Robin mentioned that he should probably go see a doctor, the vocalist (a forty-something homeless guy) calmly told him: If you don't finish the rehearsal, I'll kill you. Their first and only gig was a private party in the rough suburb Gottsunda with about 15 people in the "audience". It ended in tragedy--during their last song, the singer stagedived onto the concrete floor, broke his neck, and died on the spot. The band broke up. Shortly afterwards, the guitarist (the late vocalist's son!) was committed to a mental institution, the drummer went to prison for manslaughter, and Robin started living in an abandoned train car at Uppsala rail station. Apparently Sado Bastardos recorded a rehearsal tape, but unfortunately the only known copy was kept in a box with the rest of Robin's belongings at an ex-friend's place. Though he was offered a considerable amount of money for the tape by various local grind fanatics, he didn't have the guts to face the guy again. One can only suspect it's lost forever. Yes, this is really a band to check out for those into the bizarre and morbid, but I guess your chances to hear them or see them live are slim to none. The only thing left to do is probably just to write their name on your leather jacket. That will also be a problem since nobody knows what their logo looked like--but I sure hope it was Times New Roman with a hand-drawn pentagram in the background...
