This doesn't worry me.

This does. Come on, really? Does no one else have a problem with this?

Everything else sounds great though.

What exactly do you find wrong with it? Sounds fine to me...

He means that he wished that some of the guys who made the first two games (which were turn-based and in an isometric view) would have brought it away from a first person action game and made it more turn-based, if at all possible.

Try to cater more to the old-schoolers.

NO NO NO NO NO NOT LIKE OLD FALLOUT GAMES!!!!!!
one of the reasons i LOVED F3 was the loss of the turn based action!

That is the main reason that I loved Fallout 3. But Fallout 1 and 2 stories > Fallout 3.

It wouldnt be possible in todays market of Modern Warfare and Halo.

Immersing the player in the role they are playing rather than making them appear as puppeteer overlords to their character and their world is all the rage. Quite frankly i do prefer this style, despite what some of you may say it does most of the time, succeed in drawing the player into the game world, F3 was no exception. And neither was Oblivion, or Morrowind before that.

You can assume that they will try and infuse some of the earlier games "flavour" if you will, into a shiny new package, which sounds just fine to me.

Well, the FPS gameplay wasn't that great. The enemy AI was rather poor, the guns weak, and the lack of iron sights for guns was odd. If they are going to change it from TB to RT, they need to make it good.

It just doesn't make sense that a 22 cal is going to cripple limbs and have critical bonuses. Anyone that knows anything about ballistics knows that a 22 cal has a hard time penetrating bone. If you wanna shoot me with a 22 you had better do it point blank to my head or hit a vital organ because a shot in the arm or leg is not going to stop me let alone a super mutant or even a human pumped full of adrenaline. It just doesn't make any sense at all and I certainly hope it is misinformation and if it isn't...well that's -1 for Obsidian and realism in their games.

Anyone that knows anything about games knows gameplay> realism, so what if it?s a .22 or a 9 mm or 45 other calibers, if the devs things there is a gameplay reason behind it they use it.

It's a video game. Why worry about something, that, in the final game, will probably be something you won't touch after the beginning of the game?

Well we're talking about the first person shootery of it, and in every FPS me and my friends play, your guy typically gets shot, your health goes down, and then you wait untill your health regenerates then start shooting again. If that happened in NV, people would hate it. SO that only leaves the option of being bullet sponges and using stimpacks or dying over and over and over again from being out numbered in the early stages of the game and quitting.

are you seriously saying that we need health regeneration to have actually fun and lethal combat? you really need to play a shooter made before 2005.

I'm a little nervous about that "gangs evolving" thing. It sounds more like Oblivion style level scaling :(. Fallout 3's scaling was just fine for me, and I don't want 50% of all the raiders having power armor and plasma rifles when I reach level 20.

It won't work like that. By the sound of it, it will probably work more like this: A few raiders, in homemade armor and carrying kitchen knives and sawed-offs, find a crate of army surplus. Now said raiders have combat armor and assault rifles. It'll probably be situational, like that one random encounter in Fo3 where you see raiders in Enclave armor near an overrun Enclave camp.

I have more info, once again it's from The Vault, so yeah, thank em' and all the people that gathered the details.

US OXM info:

* Character creation is virtually identical to Fallout 3, with cosmetic changes like the Gene Projector being replaced by ReflectionTM, "You're SPECIAL!" by Vit-o-Matic machine and GOAT by a psychological test
* The local super mutants are pretty tough and will keep you from wandering aimlessly in the early portions of the game - they tend to be tougher even than deathclaws
* Sunny Smiles' dog is named Cheyenne. They'll assist you with the Powder Gangers in the Ghost Town Firefight quest if you help her kill some geckos.
* The Varmint Rifle is a low-power .22 that does significant damage to limbs and has a high critical bonus
* If your Barter skill is high enough, Chet the shopkeeper give you the 9-Iron golf club and some weapon mods
* Every skill will have use in conversations at various points
* Each firearm has a maximum of three modification slots. Once you affix a mod to a gun, it's permanent. Hunting Rifle modification examples given are scope, custom action and extended clip.
* Temporary followers, like the Goodsprings folks that can help you defeat the Powder Gangers, will also be controlled through the companion wheel
* Concept art of Hoover Dam and screenshots of the Black Mountain radio tower and the character standing inside the mouth of Dinky the Dinosaur shown
* With high local reputation at Goodsprings, you'll get a free bed to sleep in and a discount at the store
* Neil, a super mutant who hates Tabitha, can help you storm the mountain
* Tabitha is actually a male super mutant gone completely insane
* "Skill magazines" you find in New Vegas will only temporarily boost your skills
* There's a rollercoaster in Primm
* The combat gameplay was tweaked to be more first-person-shootery

And additionally, here's info from Finland's Pelit magazine:

* Weapons have unique/individual qualities. Some cause critical hits to head, others will damage your limbs severely for example circular saw will eat your fingers.
* Death animations vary depending which weapon you are using.
* Different gangs and villages might evolve during your gameplay while you are not watching. For example random Raider gang might find a hidden weapons cache and rise to power.

Oh man thanks for the information! These sound great it sounds like that they are working hard on making more features in the game and sounds like its going to be a major improvement! I like the magazine thing, so magazines are going to be like drugs? Only temporary increase skills? Sounds like a good diea. Sounds like barter is going to be alot more improved which is great. The modifacations is an idea that has longed been dream for by many, and brings back some clasic elements. As for the other stuff meh isn't as a big deal to me than what I just mentioned.

You're welcome. I appreciate the hard work Obsidian is putting into it, if they keep up the good work we might see more of them in the future. :) And if it sells, Beth is going to be very happy, so best of luck for you, Obsidian. I like the details I've been seeing so far, more great stuff to come. I still want to see gameplay though. :( Guess I'll have to wait 'til E3.

Sounds like the melding of Bethesda's new-tech approach to the Fallout license and some of the original gang lovingly caring for and crafting the next installment over at Obsidian is shaping up to be the Mass Effect 2 GoTY challenger.

I was thinkin' on this earlier, jus' to amuse myself. I had a fantasy vision of the game selling as well or better than Fallout 3, Josh & Chris telling Todd & Emil "We're thinking of doing the next one with a rotating iso camera like Dragon Age but with a turn-based option" and Todd & Emil looking puzzled and distraught as they're all about to start protestin' meanwhile Josh & Chris just hold up a sheet with the sales figures and a big Zenimax contract already signed.

Heh-heh. A little chuckle-worthy, I thought.

I find that very unlikely, consider Beth has threw Fallout 3 created a whole new fanbase suddenly shifting the gameplay style again would just throw them of.

I don't mind the FP-perspective but I pretty much hate the "S" part. God I hate shooters. Hate them. You hear me, world? Hate.

Here's the funny bit... I like shooters (Blood is my favorite shooter). I liked the original Halo, and every BUILD engine game that I played (which is all of them including 7 paladins).

I like FPP RPG's (like Arx Fatalis, Ultima UW, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, Gothic 2, and even Oblivion). I really (really!) loved Die by the sword ~though its less of an RPG than Diablo.

... But I don't like FPP in the Fallout series, same as I'd not like being stuck with ISO playing Decent or Homeworld.

I like and bananas and I like anchovies... but not an anchovy Split (as opposed to the banana kind).
