Fallout 3 is the 1st FPS game I've ever played, (I played FO1 & FO2), and I don't mind it much. I do hope they improve the FPS aspect though. When your guns skill is low the spray and pray effect is realistic but on higher levels you should be able to play with going into VATS hardly ever. (VATS should be reserved for taking a weapon out of somebodys hands or hitting that grenade thats just been tossed at you. LOL) It would also be nice if the enemy didn't dart around like cheetah on speed while your shooting at them, or at the very least you should be able to track them better.

No, that wasn't my intent at all. I was pointing out that the FPS system that is used, could be improved so tracking the enemy would be abit more realistic. Also, if the AI had the enemy actually hide behind cover... what an improvement that would be. :foodndrink:

It isn't the enemy's movement thats the problem here, its the players ablitiy to react and track the enemy's movement, that could be improved.

I had many guys hide behind cover...by running like a cheetah on speed, like any real human would do.

RPS

Along with sandbox, and that describes Fallout 3.

Indeed. I can hardly look at FPS the same anymore, RPS is just too good to pass on. As long as it's from Bethesda/Obsidian :), I will purchase, because I know it's going to be epic.

Heh, for me, if it is a Bethesda or BioWare game, they definitely have my money. If Obsidian does well with this game(which it seems they will), I'll definitely buy any future Fallout games from them(if they do get to develop more).

I'm guessing it's like "Well, if we have to make this damn game like Fallout 3 can we at least tweak the shooter element so it doesn't totally svck?" You know, like aiming at somebody's head and somehow missing? That whole thing was fine when you had a few pixels to look down at and turns were taken slowly based on virtual dice-rolls--but when you can literally see your gun pointed at somebody's head and miss? As Chris Berman says: "Come on, man."

All well and good. Though I would like to miss every now and then?;) . It doesn't need to apply to-hit-rolls. Use waivering, recoil, reloadtimes and holstering&unholstering speed (attack speed and damage with melee/HtH) based on skills.
Fallout 3 combat does need a lot of tweaks and I'll admit I took the "more shootery" part a bit too literally, but the first thing coming to mind with those words - for me - was Seruous Sam. :P

It's impossible to determine exactly what it means. But if it was a quote from one of the devs (and I'm sure it wasn't), then you would probably be right, which would be bad news IMO.

I have face palmed a few times at that. I let the enemy kiss my gun with his head and 'Oh noes he absorbed my ammo, crap they were expensive cells!'

It's a video game. Why worry about something, that, in the final game, will probably be something you won't touch after the beginning of the game?

Because giving a 22 cal weapon the magical ability to cripple limbs and then throwing critical bonuses on top of that is akin to having a shotgun with minimal spread and long distance bonuses. I'm not saying that this a game breaker, I will not dwell on this when the game is released but I still can't resist reacting to that WTF feeling and exclaiming, "Do you honestly think the average person is this stupid? GET F****** REAL ALREADY"

I'll get over it but damn, just because the time line split doesn't mean the laws of physics are out the window. Seriously though and no offense to anyone here or Obsidian for that matter but these kinds of over looked details just make me ask "What are you f****** stupid? and Who's writing this s***?

It has to be misinformation it just has to be, I can't see anybody working for Obsidian being that careless as to just ignore the the mountains of ballistics data available to the entertainment industry and just saying" To hell with realism I'll just make some s*** up, nobody will ever know". It just doesn't wash with me and no amount of "it doesn't really matter" or "it's just a game" is going to make me (a man of science) suspend my disbelief for something that defis the laws of physics as I know them. I just can't do it.

I will not speak further on this matter unless someone else would like to pretend that I'm a moron with no real world experience and argue the merits of a 22 caliber rifle with AK47 type qualities.

Oh, trust me, it'll surely cripple limbs. Would you like to take part in a test to find out? :)

Who cares. One of the best guns in the old Fallout games was a Red Ryder LE BB Gun.
