When you add "than deathclaws" to that sentence it's no longer good.

well im glad on that part cause i was able to kill super mutants on my maxed out character just using a meele weapon i killed them with two-four hits... :\
and they said they are stronger than deathclaws?? then im guessing that either means they must be like super "super" mutants or the deathclaws hitpoints were somewhat swapt with the super mutants hit point... idk but from that i'me guessing these super mutants are really that tough....

Sounds fantastic but for this... I hope the rest makes up for it. (I think it probably will).

I think it means they are trying to make the FPS combat not svck.

I think they are just making it smoother, and less confusing for non-RPG players.... (remember the video with the guy counting off 32 shots to the NPC's head...)

For myself, I could do without the FPS combat entirely

My hope is that the FPS gameplay is more like COD. You know ADS, slight autoaiming (the online type), and more accuracy. VATS was cool...but it really takes away the immersion and its a crutch. Cope.

I'm sure VATS is still there. But it svcks to blow through clip after clip in FPS to kill a something that takes a couple blasts in VATS. Lame.

* Different gangs and villages might evolve during your gameplay while you are not watching. For example random Raider gang might find a hidden weapons cache and rise to power.

FINALLY! :D

Why is everyone hating on the improved combat? They real time combat equaled that of a crappy shooter. It just seems like they are going to improve it, ie, no auto aim, and so on. They haven't said anything about a total combat overhaul, or changing the game to a crappy, overrated shooter, like Halo or COD.

But is it improved? All the given quote says, is that it's being tweaked to be more "shootery", which doesn't sound good in itself. Fallout 3 was "shootery" enough for me and I can't think of much ways to make a game "more shootery" from there besides further removing character skill effects. So, a clarification would be in order when ever the next patch of info comes.

I think your jumping to conclusions, I doubt Obsidian of anyone would downgrade character skill effects, most likely it means like many said they are ironing out some of the problems players had in Fallout 3 real time combat so that it becomes more easier to play the game purely by realtime without using VATS.

I've played the game with two characters without mods and VATS. Perfectly do-able.

I didn't know about VATS. I'm such a [censored].

Improving combat does not mean they will destroy RPG elements. There is a difference between adding iron sights and removing skills.

I think some ppl are over thinking the fps idea and making it seem worse than it'll actually be. Personally, I'm all for it because at times I was wayy too dependent on the vats.

Indeed there is, I've even suggested iron sights, it's not about that. The words "more shootery" just brings in certain "meh" thoughts.

Well, we will just have to wait for some gameplay footage, I guess.

* Weapons have unique/individual qualities. Some cause critical hits to head, others will damage your limbs severely for example circular saw will eat your fingers.
* Death animations vary depending which weapon you are using.
* Different gangs and villages might evolve during your gameplay while you are not watching. For example random Raider gang might find a hidden weapons cache and rise to power.

How do you guys not understand what they mean by, "More First-Person Shootery"? What FALLOUTFTW is saying is very, very likely to be what they mean by that. In Fallout 3, the out of VATS combat was pretty iffy, and was a bit frustrating at times. What they mean by this, is that their fixing it up, so that the first person combat is much more smooth, that way we don't have to always rely on VATS. For those of you who actually thought that New Vegas was going to be turn based and isometrically viewed... really? Why in the world would they do that? Sales would crash, and the majority of the crowd who actually want to buy it, would be extremely pissed off. Back to the info... thanks Chase, the info was great. :tops: I myself am extremely glad that they decided to fix the first-person combat.

Exactly. I played FO1 and 2, to return to the turn based birdseye view would be taking a step backwards.

I'm a little nervous about that "gangs evolving" thing. It sounds more like Oblivion style level scaling :(. Fallout 3's scaling was just fine for me, and I don't want 50% of all the raiders having power armor and plasma rifles when I reach level 20.

I like the idea of having dynamic factions in NV it adds some realism and a challenge and more chances to get better supplies.

The way I understand, it won't be automatic and linear, it will be random and improvised.

* The combat gameplay was tweaked to be more first-person-shootery

This doesn't worry me.

* The Varmint Rifle is a low-power .22 that does significant damage to limbs and has a high critical bonus

This does. Come on, really? Does no one else have a problem with this?

Everything else sounds great though.

I don't think it is too much of a concern to me although it should be like a 22-250 or 223. Both of those are "22" caliber. Maybe they meant 22 caliber and not 22LR (piss ant). That would make sense.
