I can't hold with that. I do, in fact, think its outrageous.
My personal beef with NV is simple.... I would love to enjoy playing it but the game won't run for long enough for me to achieve anything approaching immersion, which is the whole point of an RPG in my world.
I disagree with your point about the state of NV simply because if you were right, this patch we're waiting for would not be necessary. If it works for you, great, you're lucky but far from being in the majority.
I agree with your first part. The moment DLC was made for consoles it was a slippery slope towards the "push it out, fix it later" mentality that PC has been plagued with over the years. While as a consumer I'm aggravated with the logic, as someone in the business I can see the need to hit certain timeframes to maximize sales. It is a business in the end and all is (usually) forgiven once the patches roll out. This one is on Bethesda pushing the game out before it was ready for release, IMO.
I disagree with your last point because many games receive patches whether they're necessary or not. I believe NV's upcoming patch is needed for those having issues, but with the knowledge of well over a million units sold and only a very minute portion of those sales expressing their issues it's impossible to assume that the issues aren't in the minority of cases.
