new patch finished

Angry doesn't even begin to imagine what I feel about a single person having unrestricted access to hundreds of times the wealth of even the majority of criminally wealthy people. With that, I never mentioned anything about the divide between gamer platforms. I was referring to the "exclusivity" deal that M$ has. Papa Steve can launch ANY console he wants. Console gamers were on their ears over the launch cost of a PS3 and that was sold at over a $1000 loss per unit. Apple makes computers out of common PC parts and then charges 3 times what a comparable PC costs...for what...a custom made OS that requires Windows anyways to use the vast majority of available software? I really doubt that even the Mac monkeys would be willing to pay over $1500 for a white, limited functionality, Macbook that has no screen.

Wait... You're mad because Bill Gates is rich?

Thank you. Everyone else needs to stop being rude and say thank you. I know your mothers taught you manners.

Should we? If someone pulled this kind of thing to me face to face, I would probably punch them and take my money back. And some of theirs.

Gstaff didn't do this and gstaff didn't have to tell us anything, it's polite to say thank you.

Yes because Matt "Gstaff" Grandstaff is not the Community Manager ... oh wait he is.
You KNOW what the Community Manager does ... right?

Since the patch has been submitted, it sure would be nice if they told us what it fixed.
Or at least what game play adjustments they made, such as what exactly they did to lower the sniper rifle, or how energy weapons were changed.

Yay! I haven't really played in about a month just due to a few quests that won't complete due to bugs, I'm kinda missing the game. I stopped so I don't get too far and find out the quests are still uncompletable even with a patch, so I've just waited. This is great news indeed!

Since this is related to patches. I'm HOPING a dev/GStaff will see this.

But I found the Tortiseshell glasses (I cant recall how its spelled) from the guy in Vault 19, and if you drop them, you get the red box/exclamation mark no world object issue. Would you guys kindly fix this? Thank you.

I guess my day shall be spent waiting for news of the Steam patch and a changelog....then perhaps installing the patch and making a new character. I was feeling a little bored w/my last chr. but slight break+patch+new chr. might do the trick. I think my most recent chr. I just wasn't liking my concept/build.

Also, PM me with the part of the US Constitution that says it's illegal to not spend your money. I would love to see that...

There's definitely a bit in the Constitution about delaying game patches for too long. That's the part that has me up in arms.

Yeah which means he posts one thing, not go to the threads that talk about the patch, but whatever if you want to be rude that's fine, does that mean you don't say thank you when someone brings you your food because you know that's their job right?

I deleted some posts that started with flaming and lead on with quoting it and arguing. This topic is about the new patch release, not Bill Gates so let's stick to that.

A new patch would be groovy, I wonder how long it would take to catch everything? Part of the issue is the game is MASSIVE. One thing I've run into on a couple characters is after a certain point ED-E will do nothing more than pack inventory. He'll fast travel with me, even when he's lost and I just go in a new door that auto saves, but he refuses to fight or follow me down the rabbit hole of any dungeon/vault/cave/etc.

At least he's a sheild, because enemies target them.

Secondly, I really don't understand why people are so upset. Obsidian is trying to improve their game, what's the big issue? These guys are obviously passionate about Fallout and want to extend that to us as customers and players. There's far too much hate in this generation and much of it comes without good reason and a huge sense of entitlement. Let's just enjoy what we have and be thankful for the people in our lives who extend us courtesy, like Obsidian. The game is selling like hot cakes, they could just leave it be and sit on their money pile.

Not in the Constitution, but in the Fallout Bible...

Aradesh 10:4 Thou shalt not delay updates longer than one cycle of the moon. Such actions are deemed heresy and is punishable with death by super mutant. If a super mutant cannot be found, then the offender shall be dipped in liquid chocolate.

So, are you saying that "...could be as early as tomorrow..." means actually one month?

Myself I am starting to wish GStaff had not said anything about it being in one day possibly. Now all I am doing with my spare time is waiting for it, clicking refresh refresh refresh.

Oh dear, how I hate these games.

The game was released on October 19th, 2010...

And the patch is coming out this week or next. So basically, Obsidian needed another 2 months to actually finish the game, but it was decided to stick to the original release date so it could be pushed out before the holiday season. In turn, fans, customers, what have you, get a technical abortion of a game and it's "too bad, so sad" from there because once we crack the seal on it, we own it. Will developers and publishers ever be held accountable for this kind of business practice?

@fixyourgame - What you say is of course truth and as I see it a fairly universal opinion. Except for those lucky few who have not had problems in number. We all are angry about this insult but to keep saying it makes no change now. Maybe you feel small relief at posting it for all to see but it has been said much already and does not really help to get the patch quicker.

A small note I wish to make is the use of the word "imminent" that it says on Steam about the release of the patch, which can mean "immediately impending" or "overhanging". Overhanging, like dangling, like fishing and we are the fish. :)

Businesses are held accountable for what they do. It's called profit... If a business makes a habit of screwing over their customers then people will stop buying their product. However, customers also have to hold themselves accountable as well. If you go out and buy something without doing any research into what you're getting, you're in for a gamble. You might get what you wanted and you might not. Many reviews on the game said that the game was buggy and rated the game lower because of that, so it's not like the information wasn't out there. Relying on luck or getting mad at the people who made the product you bought just seems like passing the buck to me.

Are the developers and publishers of video games responsible for the state of their products at the release date? Yes, but the customer is also responsible for choosing whether or not to buy the product in the first place.

i agree, profit is the factor. but when you have major review sites bought out by advertising campaigns, giving games an 8.5 or a 9 when they should really get a 6 or 7, glancing over the major issues (on top of not being able to return the game to show my disapproval) we're kind of stuck, no? also, to the other person who replied to my post, what i wrote has nothing to do with making the patch get released faster, etc. im a patient person. i'm just annoyed because everyone seems to be overlooking this stuff and accepting it as the norm, when it simply should not be. There should be some sort of standard set on the quality of a game and/or a return policy for software/games, etc. I would have loved to show my distaste for this game by getting my money back, but that's just not an option.

Gamespot is the site I normally go to when I'm considering a game and while they're not immune to the allure of money from publishers, they still offer pretty accurate ratings on games... Better than IGN at least. http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/falloutnewvegas/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary%3Bread-review (considering the bugs).

I've bought buggy games before in my time http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/adventure/truecrime2/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B8 but I held myself responsible for making the mistake of buying them. I just see it differently I guess.
