New Vegas trailer discussion

2 things
1: if the mountains are a "fence" then the scope of the area must be huge because vegas would sit at the edge of the map
2: if the robots have tacken over will they be friendly for the most part? and is there a war between survivors and robots?

p.s. indian gouls :gun:

To answer number 2, I think that if the robots have taken over. It's a likely assumption, that they're NOT friendly.

Is it just me or does the trailer give some of you a "Bioshock" type feeling? I mean with the robotic janitor type creature (Big Daddy's), the song that sounds a lot like "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin, and the zoomed out view of a giant light filled city like Rapture.

Anyways, Hell yeah! Long live Fallout, all of them- well except Tactics and that Xbox spin-off.

A7=Area 7? I don't know, it's just the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. Like Area 51...but with a seven.

I'm liking how intact NV seems to be. I'd always thought a largely intact city in the Fallout world, with mutants and power armored crazies surrounded by a wasteland, would be awesome.

I don't think the whole 'robots taken over' thing is likely. It wouldn't be very interesting if the whole theme of the game was controlled by hostile robots. I do like the idea of NCR annexation though. Maybe choose a side, NV citizens or NCR?

Why are we expecting the soldier or scout is from NCR?

The flag is just there, and it looks quite worn. So the stranger might be from somewhere else.

The only reason I would think he's NCR, or any other faction, is the '7' and 'A7' on his gear. It makes sense that they'd be unit markings or something.

I wonder when we're going start getting info about how the gameplaymechanics have been altered (or have they been at all). I'm pretty sure the SPECIAL and skills have been tweaked some, but I'm kinda aching to know how much and in what ways.

I liked the trailer, felt similar to Fallout 1 and to a lesser extent, 2 in the style and atmosphere. :)

I don't however have any real ideas about what this stuff is all about, though maybe we'll see some direct continuations of plot points and character arcs from Fallout 2?...

I get the feeling that NV is at least somewhat under control by robots just by watching the trailer. There is probably plenty of people/ghouls living there but its more than likely policed by robots at the least. The flickering cowboy gives me this impression as it changes from hostile to happy.

I don't what to think of the guy at end, doesn't look like a vault dweller noob. Looks like bullet holes in jacket might be someone from past or maybe a cyborg of somesort.

The flag to me is just out of place. Who travels around carrying a flag on a pole? Makes me think NCR is in control of NV however why would plant the flag right in front of graveyard, not very welcoming.

Actually, that's possible. Maybe NV is already under NCR control (thus the flag) and you are the 'A7' guy, coming to New Vegas. That actually seems more likely to me.

Banner-bearers?

Or it got already taken away from NCR, and the flag is all that remains as proof of (ex-)NCR control.

Just as possible, though I suppose we won't know until it comes out. Nonetheless, it is fun to speculate.

My theory at the moment is that the main character is escaped from some Vault or military place (A7=Area 7? The government, or more specifically the enclave, was involved in the Vault-Tec project, so it wouldn't be to far fetched to believe they had their own Vault out in the desert somewhere, as a back up in case something happened to their oil rig) and is coming to NV, which is or was under NCR control. I'm certain that the player is going to be from a Vault, because it just wouldn't be Fallout if they weren't, so this fits. Plus, your character would have to be from outside NV, otherwise it would be retarded for you to be asking who or what things were.

Judging by the trailer the mountains will replace the rubble that fallout 3 had
to stop you from walking in alot of areas in d.c

So the robot that was picking stuff up or looking around in the video, is that like Wall-E? It reminded me of Wall-E very much for the cleaning up or looking around it did. Does this mean we will have EVE? :P

To me it looked like it was broken, repeating a motion but actually picking up nothing at all - just sort of clawing at the sand and twisting back and forth.

Impossible to say, but great food for the imagination!

Not really. When you take Talon armour and wear it, it still says Talon Company on it, but you aren't Talon Company. So it could be scavanged goods. Of course it might not be. Speculation is wonderful isn't it.

This is what I thought too. Looks like it is picking up rocks, and since the picture keeps switching between nice and nasty, it must be malfunctioning. Looks like a prime candidate for some scrap metal.
