New Vegas trailer discussion

After reading the article about NCR, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe the character in the video is a Ranger. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/New_California_Rangers

That sounds tasty.

What I think I liked most about the trailer, was the way it made me feel that viewing New Vegas from the desert was almost like viewing a planet in the night sky. The brightly lit city seemed that remote.

The real Vegas, gives you the same feel. If you go to the top of the Stratosphere at night, or day, doesn't really matter. You can see that there aren't any lights but those in Vegas for miles around. It's cool.

What brought you to that idea? There hasn't been any mention, in previous FO's or lore to suggest time machines existed.

That looked like a battle flag to me, and with all those graves nearby, the scene reminds me of a battlefield.

The other thing I noticed was that the robot has both a "good" and "bad" cowboy face.

1. Intact
2. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:FNV_New_Vegas.jpg - Does that look like a city to you?
3. How could they got the resources to rebuild new vegas? Look on the DC ruins, still destroyed. New vegas- intact and perfect.

I don't just buy that rebuild theory. No there has never been mentioned anything about a time machine, but that don't means it isn't one.

The West Coast, is much more collected, than the East Coast is. Plus, the NCR has the ability to manufacture weapons, armor, and other things to make a civilization safe, and running, etc. So they could have just rebuilt it and that's why it's the way it is?

They could. But that brings another question up. Don't you think it would be a enclave presence there? Because if new vegas is so glory and fantastic then the Enclave should sure as h*** know about it.

They all got blown up in FO2 and FO3. I doubt the Enclave is strong enough to do anything anymore. All they'd be, is remnant forces, unable to fight much against the BOS or NCR. Plus, it says on the wiki, that those Enclave who didn't escape East to the Capital Wasteland, joined the now Right Wing NCR military/government, who was highly aggressive. So the Enclave could know about it, but couldn't do anything about it in Enclave fashion.

Besides, the NCR is a very capable faction with their hands in many different things and circles. So them rebuilding Vegas, isn't hard to imagine.

Well maybe not, but it still just don't really make any sence. How come DC is still in ruins, how come every city is in ruins and so on almost? Why only rebuild new vegas when u can conquer the whole planet.

We don't know about Vegas yet, but DC is still in ruins becasue there is no security, and without security and safety, nothing can be built.

Well, according to Van Buren, NCR controls just about everything West of the Rockies. They fought the Bos to a standstill at hoover Dam, whcih they also control. I also think I remember they (NCR) destroyed the raiders in the area as well. That makes NCR the richest, most powerful entity around. if you assume that the dam is still functional, there would be power to spare.

Well for one, there's the matter of resources and supplies. It's a lot harder to send an entire (large) military force, across such a large land mass, than it is to just send a small "caravan" like force. You'd have to feed a lot more people, and your supply lines would be stretched quite thin, if you did send such a large force.

Secondly, like Kjarista said. Security, is something D.C. just didn't have. The West Coast, is much more civilized (technology wise) and collected, than on the East Coast. The East Coast, is still like it was 100 years after the bombs fell, or even 50 years before. They just had no major organization, that could create something like the NCR. And before you say, "what about the Enclave?" The Enclave didn't exist on the East Coast until Eden called them to go east and regroup.

Third, Arroyo, and other places from FO1-2 have probably been upgraded last we saw of them, and are probably no longer in such ruins like New Vegas.

Does anyone else get the feeling from the trailer, that the NCR has just arrived and there's a war/annexation coming?

Exactly what I was thinking.

It looked as if the viewer had just missed Mr. 7 throwing the flag into the ground. He's surveying the soon-to-be battlefield, no doubt.

It might also explain why New Vegas is in such good shape. Maybe the impending attack will leave it in shambles.

East Coast is much more under-developed than West Coast, this is why East Coast is still using Bottle Caps as currency, West Coast is already using coins.

Maybe New Vegas was never hit with the bomb in the first place. Something else could be happening there.

That guy standing in the trailer reminds my friend of Tycho, a man in dusty leather armor with a trenchcoat and gas mask, from Fallout 1. And the more I look, the more I notice it too.

I really hope that stuff will be playable too. :s

NCR Rangers? Oh boy, I hope this doesn't mean they are antagonists this time. O_o

And agreed with Cell, the first thing I thought about when I first saw that guy was "TYCHO!!", I mean he visited the Glow, so he could have become .. something like Ignus from Planescape: Torment afterwards? Lol
Hmm, but then again, perhaps not. It's the PC probably, judging by the Pip-boy.

Am I the only one seeing an extreme similarity between this trailer and Fallout 3's?

I mean come on:
Close-up on radio/television.
Crackles slightly.
Music starts, while the camera simultaneously zooms out , while the music slowly fades away, echoing.
The city can be seen in the background (though in FO3 it was really inside the city rather than overlooking it), and the music gets more dramatic.
Then a human appears from the edge of the screen, and just before the end of the trailer he turns towards the camera.

That tower in the city also mimics the Washington monument a bit, playing the same role of giving the city something that pulls the eye towards it, and something that can be seen from very far away. Kinda like the Citadel in Half-Life 2. Though this speculation is very far-fetched.
And heck, it seems they even threw in the "War. War never changes"-quote once again.

And about that robot... Well, my first impression was that it was kinda malfunctioning, trying to dig something up, without even noticing the buried human body right in fornt of it. It seems to be performing this task extremely poorly which implies that it certainly wasn't made for it. Maybe it has just short-circuited a bit and went nuts. It doesn't even seem to be completely aware of what it's doing.

In FO3, it shows a BOS Paladin, and they were the "good guys" in the game. So I'm guessing NCR will be as well?... Maybe?

It's like that with the other FO games as well.

It is? I've never actually seen the trailer for Fallout or FO2. Well, ignore my kinda pointless observation then :)

The Fallout 1 and 2 intros have a very similar structure to these. Given that the Fallout 3 trailer turned out to be the game intro, this one is likely to be one as well.
