We're customizing weapons not cutting a baby in half. What's the worst possible thing that could come of increasing fire rate or magazine size?

In the case of increased magazine capacity, it usually results in less reliable feed action. It would tend to get worse the further towards the bottom of the clip you got, as the spring slackens. Increased rate of fire would of course make the gun less controllable, and potentially more prone to jamming.

sounds good to me. Im tired fo the "Guns that fire for 5 months without jamming then break" in F3.
Also needs a beter repair system. Everythings not tape and a hammer slamming into a desk.

All good but if they added those negative effects more people would complain than did previously about not being able to customize weapons. The only reason they're including customization is to silence those cries.

Honestly, I think Sawyer and co. are adding it because it's the way they would like to play the game themselves, much like hardcoe mode.

Well, if you want to inject reality into it, the larger the mag, the more potential for feeding jams. Increased rates of fire increase jamming rate, mechanical failure rate, inaccuracy, and potential irreparable damage, like warping barrels.

Like any mechanical device, design decisions and mods almost always have performance tradeoffs. To not have them in game is understandable, but it's not realistic...another design tradeoff.

Why would more people cry than before?

If anything, the cries would lessen due to the added feature itself.

Apparently, the conversation system and karma system have both been reworked quite a bit, which I'm excited for. Instead of just having the karma system, we'll have a reputation system, so unlike Fallout 3, it sounds like you can't just walk into a town like Megaton, kill a bunch of people, fast travel away, and have the residents and factions just completely forgotten what you've done.

I think it makes the game more realistic, in a couple of ways.

I agree. I'm not that interested in why the feature is being added. That firearm mod has ranked high at FONEXUS for months I think.

I'm assuming you're talking about the 'weapon mod kits' mod, in which case, yes it has.

Oblivion wasn't the only TES game you could enchant and rename weapons in. Look at Morrowind.

The customization system sounds good and people, being the cynics they are(All us gamers are cynics, admit it!) would complain about the negative weapon effects. I wouldn't due to the fact that I play R6V2 alot and I've played BioWare's KoToR series where I had to decide which upgrade was better and whic would hurt my attack power/chances more.

All I want in FNV and FO4 is custom armor we design from the ground up(Personal Stealth Engine please!) and a silenced, scoped H&K416 assault rifle

Yes, that's it.

Generally, I don't think it's some sort of loss of face to resspond to the desires of customers. if they put this in to respond to customer complaints, more power to them. If they are putting it in becasue they like it, then that's fine too.

If they really do open up customization as much as I think they will, I can finally put a scope on a sledgehammer, the way things should be.

Hey Sawyer, since you're lookin', I hope that colt single action (or a likeness to it) makes it in game.

Now, having read the article, I noticed this:

A statemt that really ups my hopes of an interesting combat and tactical decisions, as it implies the modifications don't just boost up your weapon but also add something to ponder about when including of them.

And then I read this:

Which is a really disheartening statement and is contradicting (at least to some degree) the earlier part. How on earth is it the best part if there's no matter whatsoever what kind of [censored] you attach to your gun? I'd say the best part is that the system itself is there, but having no illeffects to the enhancements is most definitely the worst part of it.

But then again.... Which way is it? Are there consequences or are there not?

I think what their saying is regardless what upgrades you buy for a gun one upgrade wont have a ill effect on another upgrade, BUT upgrades has a up point but also a down point. In the case of the larger mag, wouldnt effect the scope (if you have one), like wise you will get the benifit of a larger clip that reduces the number of reloads youd have to do, but at the same time you have longer reloads when you do reload.

That may well be the case. Mods not interacting together. Hopefully at least that.

Preach.

MGS 4 style weapon alteration would be ideal for the guns. But if we can really frankenstein some components that would be A+.

All sounds awesome, except the bit about the Brotherhood.

I hoping it's the Brotherhood from FO1/FO2.

I think the Y is for Xbox controlers, since the magazine is Xbox magazine, atleast thats what the bottom of the pages said when I read it online. For computer I am pretty sure its the same old V key as in FO3.

I am an xbox user and in FO3 you enter VATS by pressing the rb but you do have an option to change the controls in FO3. I just hope you can change it back to normal in NV.
