Patch 1.4 for PS3 Discussion [merged similar topics]

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:02 am

First thing I'm doing after the patch installs, is running outside of Whiterun and checking the nirnroot glows, and if I have 2 Louis Letrushes.
If they STILL haven't addressed these problems regarding the games timers, with properly deleting world objects before resetting them, (even after 4 patches), I'm assuming they will NEVER fix them.

It's obvious this problem is contributing to Skyrim's savegame bloat. and over time, the games overall instability. If it's ignored in 1.4, then I'm done with the game on PS3 and abandoning this savegame (which I REALLY did not want to do) and finally getting it on PC. I'm sure someone will eventually release a mod for the PC version with custom, fixed game timers, that reset sooner, and clean up shot arrows and other random items.

I got a question and need help.
It looks like this patch most likely will get the major lag and freezes in ps3 so I need this patch badly.

The problem is, I don't have internet connection in my ps3. It'll be very risky if I unplug my adsl ethernet usb modem from my PC to the ps3. I had problems in the past where I couldn't get internet access back if I unplug and replug to my computer until I had to call a serviceman to come home to fix back the connection.

1) Is there any other way for my ps3 to get this patch without having an internet connection?
E.g. Download the patch file into my usb drive and plug it to my ps3. (Does it work?)

I should have KNOWN better....after Morrowind, and Oblivion and waited for the GOTY edition on PC and waited for all the talented modders to fix ( once again ) what Beth soft was too haphazard to care about getting right in the first place. I've had the game ( Skyrim of course ) since Christmas and haven't even opened the cellophane packaging due to all the issues I've been reading about since aquiring the game. It took community patches with multiple hundreds of fixes for Oblivion to work decently on the PC. Due to the economy I haven't bought or built a new PC yet, and thought...what the heck, they can't mess it up "THAT BAD", I'll just get Skyrim for my exisitng PS3 and later on when I get a new PC I'll get the GOTY edition and mod it "my way" after playing it as Beth originally visualized it.

To bad, that Beth seems that the way they originally intended for it to play on the PS3, was for it to NOT! Like my first sentence said....I should have known better. All of Beth's previous works have been laden with bugs, glitches and general foul ups...seems they are so busy wondering "if" they can do something, that they don't stop to think if they "should" do something, so as to make everyone have that initial "oooh....ahhh moment" only to be replaced rather soon with the "OMG why was I so darn dumb, in not waiting for the mod makers to fix it first experience"!

I've often wondered how it is, that mod makers, doing thier work for FREE can fix and make a game so much better than a company with dedicated "so called professionals", that can't "ever" seem to get it right!

I should have known better....

Here's "praying" that 1.4 actually DOES some of what it seems to promise...

If you can download the PS3 patch onto your PC from somewhere, yes that should work. Flash card should work, too.

Fixed rare issue where “Dampened Spirits” would not start properly, it happened to me since I left Riften the quest disapper.
Now I am wondering if this patch will work on my current save data games, so the quest will reappear or if I should start a new game ( i am almost lvl 50 so it will be quite painful to start again the playthourght). I really thank anyone who will reply to me.

What OS is your PC running? You should be able to just pop the ethernet cable in to your PS3 then back in to your modem when your done. Even XP will auto-reconnect your PC to the webz within a few seconds.

You don't mean unplugging the usb modem from the usb port do you?
Just buy a utp cable (LAN) long enough to make the distance from your usb modem to your console. Plug one end to the modem and the other to the console. Go to the console network settings and follow the guide for the wired connection. That's assuming that your modem has more than one utp port. If it doesn't just unplug the utp cable from the back of your pc (the one that is plugged in your network card, not the usb) and plug it to the console. When you put it back in your pc you will have internet instantly again.

I think he means a removable usb flash drive. Either that or a flash card should work, assuming he could find the PS3 update online on his PC.

I have faith in Bethesda, i'm sure they can fix it. They'll get lynched if they don't. (This is NOT a threat, it's a fact, so huge amount of ppl are pissed at them at the moment)

C'mon Bethesda, you can do it.

Im not sure about downloading it on the computer, i suppose it would work if they offer that option but it would be up to them. Does one of your friends have online maybe? It would be a hassle but you could always take your ps3 to a friends house that has online and do it there. But anyway I wish you the best of luck in finding a way to patch your game

Guys, seriously this is over for for me. I give up. I'm gonna get myself a cheap used Xbox 360 from eBay (hopefully) and enjoy Skyrim! Even if Bethesda fixes it on the PS3, they will no longer provide support for it, do you understand that?!
Sorry for what I have to do but I've heard and seen too much already. Please keep in mind that I'm not a really devoted fan or anything, I just love gaming and I'll do everything to enjoy it.

I wish the best of luck for all the PS3-only gamers out there.
See you all, later.

Amazing that even after they (bethesda) screwed you over, you are willing to go buy another console + their game again... I mean dont you see something is wrong with this picture?? Instead of making them realize they shouldnt treat you like a nobody, you go ahead and give them extra cash!

Especially when this is the whole reason Microsoft has exclusivity deals, is so that people will buy the Xbox instead of the PS3

Guys, seriously...See you all, later.

I still have my copy of Skyrim since November 26th, the day I bought it. First playthrough save, 11MB, and lagging after 5-8 hours of gameplay. Second playthrough, going up to 4MB, not lagging as of yet. Guys, seriously...See you all, later.
Oh btw, on my first playthrough save. I platinum'd it within a month. Waddup!

I just think that there's something to be said when we are 6/7 home console generations and something like ~4 decades in with this whole video game thing and you have a supposed AAA company which releases games which crater to 0 frames per second.

I love the werewolf fix, where previously it would occasionally not fail. Presumably it always fails now :D

Ok, let me put this straight. This is the third time, so I hope someone at Bethesda will take notice:

I WANT SHADOWMERE BACK!!!

It got lost in the middle of nowhere! We are more than few with this issue. And it isn't in the patch changelog. Please have the horses following us back wherever we go ina open space!!

This isn't the last patch they're ever going to do.

Future patches will include DLC achievement/trophy support.

We'll be given 1.4 and perhaps 1.5 as stop-gaps and then right into DLC patches as it's much more fiscally responsible to time paid content pushes together.

That might not be fixable with a patch. They could stop horses from disappearing in the first place, but if they're already gone then you probably won't be able to get them back.

Seriously I give up too! I'm also going to go buy a 360 and Skyrim again. You won Bethesda! You and Microsoft's plan worked! Good job at doing horrible things that should be illegal...

LOL just kidding I hate 360 and will always love my PS3... I will ask though... I'm being kinda lazy, but where are all of you reading these release notes for 1.4? I can't find them anywhere on this forum and I looked in each system's sections... Maybe I'm just dumb.

Also, what is Bethesda Defense Force? I mean has that term become so popular you really feel the need to warn people if used, they will get a forum suspension?

And I want to remind everyone I actually WAS visited by aliens and I think I am a clone. :P

No interface changes? Useful filtering? Better handling? Or have I overseen this?

Example: I have "hundreds" of small soulstones in my inventory, filled with the same soul "size". Its the same issue with the stone of barenziah - they don′t stack properly.

btw - what is the best way to send information about new bugs or helpful improvements? Only this forum? Writing PM to XYZ?
