Patch 1.2 - Thread #2

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 8:24 pm

It's "fixed" as in I can't move my mouse up or down anymore. Only left and right.
Mine goes super fast up and down. :goodjob:

they have to, dragons are doing the moonwalk and if you haven't noticed, Armor doesn't seem to be adding to your resistance to damage, its not just elemental resistances that are broken...

WTF

that is probably your pc configuration. your symptoms are typical of a mismatch between having a 2 or 5.1 speaker, and the card and windows being told you have 2 or 5 speakers. ensure that everything is all in sync wrt your actual speaker setup.
No. I'm using headphones. The game's audio is almost inaudible unless I set the system speaker setup to 5.1 and then have the Xonar mix it down to headphones. It's been this way since the game's release, and the 1.2 patch didn't fix it.

I wish they would just roll back the patch across the board until a fix is ready. I'm afraid to play my game...

Looks like this is even worse than backwards dragons and minor resistance fails. All of the controls are effed? Armor too?

Sounds like the game hit Ragnarok early. Ugh, so much for playing Skyrim this weekend :(

Quiet / near to mute sounds are a Skyrim problem, not a PC problem. Skyrim is the only game and/or program I've ever had to toggle the "Loudness Equalization" setting on for in the 2 1/2 years I've owned this PC. Everything else on my system is perfectly audible 100% of the time. Skyrim is not, even with the in-game volume sliders cranked up to max.

Okay, so not sure if this is due to the update or not but... Now when I press Play on the Launcher is asks if I wish for this Program to make changes to my PC (this only happened once at first time load up) I press OK, the launcher disapears then comes back, nothing happens..

Anyone?

ok, headphones plugged into what. SPDIF output? your receiver's "headphone" jack? See, I'm not sure you're doing the best thing by telling your computer you have 5.1 then at the end the audio will come out of just two speakers. You should be blaming the component doing the downmixing of 5.1... try it, just humor me, tell windows you have headphones. now listen to things.

Do what I did, if you like headphone gaming. buy real multi-speaker headphones, mine hookup to the optical/spdif output (so digital and 5.1 stream) and then the headphone speakers actually have multiple speakers so there really is a benefit at the channel separation...

Yes, this. I haven't even installed it yet, haven't even played it. And now when I do install it, I won't even know what's right and what's wrong because I don't have a benchmark of what the game looked like before they progressively borked it with these updates. I might be looking at something going "that's quite cool" and it's actually some huge bug that isn't supposed to be there.

Sounds like Beth screwed the pooch on this one, I'll stay with the default game awhile longer.

In Steam, right click on Skyrim and go to properties. Under Local Files, click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Wait for the verification and the update and you should be good to go.

I've had issues with Steam before, but none quite like this.

I hate Steam, unfortunately I have so many of my favourate games on it. Steam is a conveiniance when buying, but an outragously inconveinaince when DL'ing.

I will verify integrity and see. I had forgotten about that'un! Thanks PlayfulDreamer.
