Patch 1.2 Unofficial Thread

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 10:57 pm

Who says they knew it had these bugs? Should they have know it? Yes.

Does it seem feasible they would be like "Oh wow, this patch has some bad bugs... but lets release it anyway!" I'd say no.

because the patch was pushed on PS3 yesterday and that's when these reports started. People were reporting this bug at least 12 hours before they pushed the update on steam.

No way I'm uninstalling the game. I'd rather play Batman: Arkham City and Terraria 1.1 tomorrow while waiting for them to come out with a new patch.

Oh gawd damage resistance from armor is gone? May as well run around naked, I'd get more of a laugh out of that than this...

Also I get stuck on the beginning screen after the Bethesda logo with the dragon looking thing. No "Continue" or "Load" or anything comes up. Dandy.

You can't ever roll back. You gotta be up-to-date to activate. Hey, I'm a poet. :P

Best thing is to back up your EXEs and ESM each update (I just 7-Zip the whole folder.)

I think they have to submit patch data to Steam in advance as well. So it's entirely possible that it was already out of their hands when the reports started. Besides, it takes probably at least 12 hours for bug reports like this to reach the devs.

Ohhhh, I almost forgot about the Terraria 1.1 update. Hells yeah!

Patch 1.2 changes, in a quick test that i did:

Resistances have been nullified -> Summoned a fire atronatch -> killed with flames, Storm atronach killed with Thunderbolt.
Menu -> trade menu is a lot sharper and better. So far, i had not noticed (and i have been trying) to get out of the menu by misscliking. Conversation menu is bugged as soon as you exit the trade menu, and you will NOT be able to scroll through or highlight any other options, so you have to do it manually by buttons (basically stays the same as before, but at least the trade menu works fine).
Dragons -> Urk, i had no issues with dragons before. Dragons flying backwards? No, i take that over what i saw in my game. One dragon behaved fine, another was.... wow. It was spasming as it was flying, constantly flapping it's wings and making these minor turns, like a humming bird. Then, it started running away from me (okay i know i'm awesome but...), flying backwards. I ran about 3 minutes trying to catch it and it finally stopped. So i shouted (Dragonrend) to bring it down. It...it popped like a baloon, and flew across the screen, landing somewhere at a fort over yonder about 5 minutes of walk (couldn't see it on the screen anymore).

Performance-wise it wasn't beneficial or detrimental for me, no difference there. The esc key i will never use anyway, so that was a slightly pointless fix, i would agree.

Other than this, in my short play session, i have not noticed anything else that was majorly wrong. I did not get the time to check if projectiles go away, but i hope someone else can confirm that (it was just annoying). In any case, i don't know what went wrong with the patch Beth, but if this revert is true, please put it back to 1.1 . I didn't have that many gamebreaking bugs to begin with.

Yup, some tech-savvy and trustworthy people confirmed it right away. All resistances including disease and poison too.

How did this patch get out at all? Besides fixing PS3 FPS drops, this patch does nothing else of real importance. PC users were better off given no patch at all. None of the bugs listed in the patch notes are game breaking for anyone except PS3 users.
Well, the mouse sensitivity and ESC usage stuff looked good.

so i can't see the main menu.....

Same with me..

Game seemingly starts fine as usual. That is, until after the Bethesda logo finishes.. I get to what should be the main menu, with the dragon logo and smoke, but there is no text. At all. It doesn't freeze or lock up, the smoke continues to animate, but there is no actual menu. There is nothing at all other than the logo and the smoke. There isn't even any sound after the Bethesda logo. Tried verifying the integrity of the game cache but the problem persists. Running a vanilla install, no mods, no tweaks, nothing added... I've had very little issues up to to this point other than the usual graphical glitches and a few bugs here and there. Now though, the game is quite literally unplayable for me.

I can only hope tomorrow's patch for Terraria doesn't have this many game breaking bugs. As a mod on Terraria Online, I know how bad it is when a company messes up big time.

Poor Moderators; patch days like this have to be a nightmare.

So the general consensus is to Go Offline on Steam, and wait for them to pull the patch from the Steam servers?

Regarding 1.3... do we have to wait another 2 weeks for it to go through the XBL and PS3 certification process?

Moral of the story is not to DL the patch. I am running Steam in offline mode so I am guessing Ill be fine but should I go online does the message on UESP mean that it will not DL 1.2?

Graphical shimmering for me post patch, like the lighting is jacking up somehow. Running the game on "High" settings. So, I'll move forward a little bit in Whiterun and all the roof tiles of a building will shimmer for around 10 seconds and then settle into how they are supposed to look. Changing drivers from beta back to WHQL certified did nothing. nVidia GTX260M. DXDiag in spoiler tag. Anyone else getting these issues?

I seriously hope not. This certification process is killing PC users and users of Steam in general.

I can not put things in the trunk. Push R and nothing happens. The problem appeared after the upgrade 1.2.

First-time poster, so plz be gentle :)

OK, after auto-update on Steam (my first mistake, I guess), my game is frozen at launch screen (dragon and smoke). I take it I'm not the only one this has happened to (btw...I've never had a patch that broke a game this extremely...pretty epic, really).

What is the official word from Bethesda on this patch? Sit tight till problem fixed via new patch, or delete and reinstall?

Thanks in advance for replies :)

What the hell is going on with Bethesda?? I can't believe this. If I disabled automatic updates for skyrim earlier, can I play in online mode or do I still have to go offline? I'm afraid to start up steam and see it update.

It becomes impossible to use fast travel and favorite menu after today patch. Now they just close when i left click on something there(using PC and mouse+keyboard). I cant bind anything to the right hand (from favorite menu) and i cant travel between places in the Skyrim except of going there on my feet.

Loaded up a previous character save for my mage character. Summoned a Flame Atronach and spammed firebolt at it. Killed it. Did it again and used Flames. It damaged it.

Apparently the Elemental Damage bug is confirmed. I do not remember being able to do that previously before 1.2
