Patch 1.2 Unofficial Thread

Post » Wed May 23, 2012 4:18 am

It appears that Steam is now sending out the Patch.

We want to keep all Patch posts in one thread to make it easier for the Bethesda and the Devs to monitor the results. All other Patch threads will be closed and directed to this thread.

Here are the release notes for the patch (Sticky at top of this forum section)

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1294878-12-update/

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you are running any mods and you are having issues post patch, uncheck all your mods in the Launcher and see if the issue goes away. If it does, then add the mods back one by one until you find the one or ones that needs to be updated.

Downloaded the patch. People were complaining about dragons flying backwards, save game corruptions and mouse sensitivity being made worse.

From what I have tested, my save games have not been corrupted. Playing as usual. Fast traveled until a dragon spawned and it was normal and I forced V-sync OFF through my Nvidia control panel and the x and y ratios seem to be the same and no longer tied to FPS.

Still testing.

According to the patch page on the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Patch Bethesda has removed the patch from the servers. Reinstalling Skyrim now gets you the 1.1 patch again.

Not sure if it's true. But hopefully we'll get a fixed patch soon.

Can we get a confirmation on that?

Those that are having mouse issues after the patch, delete your skyrim ini and let the game create a new one, or remove any mouse tweaks you have added(fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0350, and the y-correspondent). Works like a charm for me.

As in they fixed the mouse problem, you just have some tweaks that are no longer compatible with the game.

Sorry, reposting since it was moved. Somone was helping me with an issue... -.- Which I will most likely not get any more help with...
--

I've had issues with Steam before, but none quite like this.

I hate Steam, unfortunately I have so many of my favourate games on it. Steam is a conveiniance when buying, but an outragously inconveinaince when DL'ing.

I will verify integrity and see. I had forgotten about that'un! Thanks PlayfulDreamer.

Edit: After Verifying, it says all was presant and correct, but has now started to DL the patch. I'll just let it do it, see if the bugs are presant in my game too. If so, just have to wait for Bethesda to [censored] up some more- sorry I mean fix some more.

Interesting release notes. Are those official?
*Elemental resistances removed
*Dragons flying backwards through the mountains

But I take that means the patch has gone live for PC now?

Sound levels for XP users are still too low! I haven't been able to full enjoy the game since release. Please address this issue in the hotfix.

I just realized that if all hells breaks lose, I can always just reinstall the game from disk and unplug my internet connection. Would be far from ideal though.

Yup. We should all just go and do something else for a while. Let's listen to some good music.
Have you guys heard this Skyrim soundtrack? It's AWESOME! A remastered Oblivion theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNli9Po1wRs

Reposted from the last thread, just in case anyone missed it--just in case the UESP's report isn't true and 1.2 is still floating around in the wild, here's how to prevent it from downloading while still being able to play the game:

FYI, for anyone not wishing to update: telling Steam "do not automatically update this game" (right click on the game in Steam -> Properties -> Updates tab) will prevent Steam from automatically downloading the update. However, if you're running Steam in online mode the next time you try to launch Skyrim, Steam will attempt to acquire the update then.

The only way to prevent downloading the patch while still being able to play Skyrim is to run Steam in offline mode (Steam menu -> "Go Offline...") whenever you want to play the game.

Please be aware that if you play Skyrim while running Steam in offline mode, it will not record your hours played, nor will achievements unlock. In-game chat also won't work, and while you can still take screenshots, you won't be able to upload them to your Steam profile until you go back into online mode.

Also: can anybody tell me what they did in regards to keybinding fixes / not fixes / breaking things even more? :cold:

I wish they would made such decision earlier. This was expected.

I just verified game cache. It does not roll you back to 1.1. If you updated to 1.2 you are stuck with 1.2.

Armor DR is broken for me,as well as moonwalking dragons, and elemental resistances, not sure if this is unique.

No mods, comp vanilla retail copy through gamesas, PC.

UGHHHHHHHHHH

roll it back fellas, temperance and humility is knowing when your wrong.

Also just my two cents but I'd like to see you guys working on broken progression like "the thane of riften" and "blood on the ice" instead of breaking more features.

This game without armor DR might as well be EA sports FIFA 2012 with no football.

I can't even play anyway because SKSE hasn't been updated, but by the sounds of it, nobody can play with this patch anyway.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Patch says that "Clearing the game data, and downloading the patch will now give you the 1.1 patch." Maybe that will work.

XP on our desktop .. Game is working a lot better after the patch.

Highly recommend for those that have been tweaking -

Delete your Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini

Let the game regenerate new ones. Your first time in game the mouse will seem weird again but ... Just try the in game mouse sensitivity before you go tweaking ini again

Had a brief 10 minutes trying it without any personal tweaks to the newly generated ini's and all seems fine so far - touch wood :)

The mouse at least is a lot better, and no stutter.

Just about to let the family loose on it so time will tell

The UESP page says reinstall, not verify game cache. I suspect you'd have to delete it and re-download from scratch if it's true.

I'm sorry Beth but up until now I've stuck up for you and given you the benefit of the doubt. Why why why would you send out a patch knowing it has a game breaking bug?? Seriously what the hell man.
Obviously they need to broaden their test machines configurations a bit.

I watched Steam download the patch, and for me it's completly failed to fix the one bug thats been driving me absolutely utterly insane. I will often lose sound immediately upon loading up a save game that then proceeds to kill the sound for the whole computer. It can often taker 5 or more reboots before the game finally decides I can have sound. I'm keeping it at 44100 hz as has been recommended. So.. when's 1.3 coming out?
