Patch 1.2 Unofficial Thread

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 11:50 pm

I was having the same issue as many other people in that my main menu wasn't loading. What fixed it for me was disabling the one mod I had (Val's crafting meltdown). It seems I can play the game fine and DR doesn't seem to be broken for me.
However, my performance has gotten noticeably worse since I updated.
Thank you! I couldn't tell which mod was causing this, just that the game only worked when I deactivated them! :celebration:
On another note, when did they decide to use Comic sans as a font? Before the patch it was a normal looking font and now its Comic sans? Is it the patch or my computer?

I get the exact same thing, how can they miss something like that?

And I had set steam to not update anyway :brokencomputer: guess I will go back to using the original exe.
That's what I am afraid of. Now I can't even play my other steam games without skyrim updating? This is bs.

No Skyrim tonight then if so many are messing up their games. Thankfully there's footy on the telly!

If Beth is working on a patch for the patch (1.2.1 lol) Im guessing we'll here about it round here first

I don't think anyone has wondered why people are angry. To the contrary, they are telling us that they will continue to monitor the forum and continue to work on peoples issues. Of course the anger is understood. But really, we either detail our problems in a meaningful way or we rant. Which one will likely result in results?
Thank you for providing some sanity to this madness. Glad to hear that they have a plan, despite the attitude of the forum. :turned:

Is disconcerting that this patch is available 2 days after the ps3 version and contain same bug, also if PC don't need certification.
There are no reasons for this delay.

Ok, it's always rough when new patches come out and cause problems. It is however awesome when a month or so passes and the big patches come out and fix a multitude of things and people are once again happy. And that has always happened to the extent that most are happy with the game.

The impatience of members astounds me. I'm not sure anyone releases a perfect game and a game of this size always has many issues that come to light when millions of people are first getting it. I always like to jump over to the spoilers section where folks are playing and enjoying the game to give me a reality check. Fortunately for me, Skyrim has been my most stable Bethesda game to date. I had issues with MW, Daggerfall and Oblivion upon release and I've had little to none with this one. So far my only problem has been my character walking around with an arrow through her head or ice shards hanging off her back and head.

I always hope for issues to be quickly resolved but understand it takes much time. The devs have to collect data, recreate the problems and find solutions followed by testing and approvals from sony and microsoft to issue patches and sometimes the patch causes other problems. No different than many other companies and their games upon release.

I'm a cup half full person who has much patience and I am of the belief they will stand behind their game until they have sorted out issues and am patient enough to await that moment. Wish I could spread some of that demeanor to others but I can't so I'll just share my strawberry pop tart with you all.
Well, no offense, but you're a moderator. I don't think you got that position by NOT kissing ass. Every recent game Bethesda has been involved with on the PC has been far more bugged than your average game. They're poor ports. And I've been dumb enough to buy three of them. Brink, RAGE, and Skyrim. It's pathetic that they would let us pay $60 for unplayable games. 95% of the major issues present would have been caught and fixed had they done even a month of QA testing on the PC. But it's clear that we're not even worth that much to them. Their focus is purely on consoles, and from what I hear, they can't even get those releases right.

Never again. I'm waiting until I can get Bethesda games from the bargain bin on Steam. They're usually not adequately fixed until a GoTY version comes along, anyway.

Summer, this is the PC Support forum, it's no place for rational thinking!
For me personally, when I'm half way through a game and cannot continue because of broken quests and the occasional crash to desktop, you will have to forgive my slight lack of RATIONALITY!!
I rationally went out and pre-ordered this game because I really enjoy what Bethesda does best, open worlds, but after Oblivion, Fallout 3 and now Skyrim, my rationality is slightly strained.

As a previous poster said, its a "Hardware and Software Issues Subforum". People here are disappointed and angry, and angry people on the internet are impatient and believe a mistake can be fixed as fast as they can report it. Every game support forum is the same, BF3, Mass Effect or StarCraft - wait...no Blizzard makes no mistakes.

The happy, greatful players dont post here. At least I never do when I have a perfectly working game.

But I DO post here...because it doesnt work.

Edit: And RANTING is easier than forming FULL sentences. ESPECIALLY with CAPSLOCK!!!!!1!

It becomes impossible to use fast travel and favorite menu after today patch. Now they just close when i left click on something there(using PC and mouse+keyboard). I cant bind anything to the right hand (from favorite menu) and i cant travel between places in the Skyrim except of going there on my feet.
I confirm the "leftclick" bug.
Also now, when I pickup the book, I cannot put it back, I can only read it or take it to inventory.

Please, fix it, or give us rollback tool !!!

Something wierd just happend while I was browsing mods, so maybe you might know why this issue happened: So I'm browsing different mods for fun, steam is running in the background doing its own thing since I quit my game to deactivate and uninstall a mod thoroughly and decided to see if there was anything new. All of a sudden I get a steam message pop up saying tesV: Skyrim had just finished downloading, I was like whatever, probably a patch or something. I go to play again eventually and it loads like normal, after a few seconds this message pops up.

"skyrim: your game version is NOT supported, supported patches: 1.1.21.0 (31oct11), 1.1.21.0ceg(18nov11)"

I verified local files cache and next time it went to launcher, scanned my hardrive for settings so I customized the setting again, clicked play on the launcher screen and still the same it just allowed the illusion that everything was fixed.

So anyone know why this happened, I don't think it downloaded a patch like that.

- General functionality fixes related to remapping buttons and controls (PC)
Apparently, this issue still hasn't been fixed properly.
I swapped the buttons R and F (and changed some others). But in the menu, the buttons for dropping and favoring an item are displayed wrong. But in the treasure chest menu for example, they are displayed the right way. It's been that way pre patch, and it still is now.
What have they done there? How hard can it be to fix that? It can't be much more than two lines of code. :D

- ESC button can now be used to exit menus (PC)
That point is done as stated, but now I can't exit menus with the button I entered them anymore. That's annoying.

- Fixed occasional mouse sensitivity issues (PC)
I didn't really know what is meant by that. But apparently it wasn't about the bad klicking issues. I still have to klick on the menu items more than once, most of the time and navigating through menus is still a mess.

Sorry, but i don't think the patch fixed anything... :/

Ever since I have downloaded the patch I am now having issues with my Xbox controller. First of all it is an official controller purchased from Microsoft, for Windows. It was working properly before the patch. Now the "A" button does not work in the menu. It works in game as I have it mapped to the jump action. But when I go into the menu and try to use it to activate or select an site for fast travel it no longer works. I cannot switch back to keyboard and mouse because I cannot select the option in the menu. I don't know if others are having issues. This happened after the patch once again.

I will post my specs though I doubt they have relevance.

Alienware Aurora R5
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
AMD Phenom II x6 3.7ghz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5830 1GB

After messing around with it some more I have found that the button seems to be reversed in other menus like Items. In this case it is working to set favorites, which I have mapped to "Y," and y is equipping things. Again a does not work in the system menus every other button like "B or cancel" does what it is supposed to.

also if they put the top guns on PC debugging, they can use the PC as a platform to avoid lenghty cert. on consoles that are gonna come back broken anyways.

Like I said you can patch PC and get feedback and useful input 2-10x times faster than a console, it only makes sense to patch the [censored] out of the PC, use *US* as a regression testing force, and avoid hangups waiting for console cert. which are only going to create more issues, which you could avoid altogether just focusing on PC for a month.

that is at least if this game is native built for PC, or if it actually is just ported round. I would be interested to know what one is the native ex.

I don't know if it's was already sad, but the italian translation was broken, when you exit from enchanting table the reply "Si" was replaced by "S".

I want to be honest, I've gained fps. An average of 3-4 fps. I confirm the Magic Resistance bug, but I've not noticed others. Also a little bug when you want to make a quick travel. For me it work, but when ask to confirm if you want to travel to a place, in the answer there is a mistake. It's writing S instead of Sì. Italian for Yes.
I'm also getting the same results, no gui problems, no dragons flying backward, I'm affected by the resistance bug, I gained a few more fps but the loading times are a little bit longer.

Well, I started up the game and it looks OK. However there is no "active effect" in the magic page and there should be on this character. So if resistances have been removed at least it's being reported correctly. :)

Quick question. I disabled it and got the main menu. Now will it have to be the modder or Bethesda to fix this to use it again? I really liked having that mod around. Weird how one little mod can do that. :/
