PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 18

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:44 am

Weren't much patches that I can remember for it to fair and things can get added by accident also. Or intentions can change and they could still not release the DLC even though the patch contains the files.
Again this is up to Bethesda to tell us and keep us happy, to stop 20 odd threads (optimistic guess) of QQing. And I include myself among the QQers.

Hot Coffee was removed because of legal complications that it would cause, things that would effect the games rating and such. Still, when the files were discovered by hackers, there was outrage, the game was re rated, re-called, patched to stop people from accessing it etc etc. It's not comparable to this.

The same [censored] will happen at the next DLCs as well if they don't sort out their PR.

It's gonna happen, they announced it back in August 2011. The first two DLC's for Skyrim are timed exclusives.

And was the DLC really timed, did they just say that to buy some time?
Delaying the [censored]storm and possibly trying not to damage sales of other platforms in an underhand manner?
Did M$ say "keep the money, we don't give a [censored] if you keep it xbox eclusive, we won't take the cash back now anyway"?

All the above are just [censored], but until there was official word from Beth they would be just as valid as the last man's [censored].

Yes it was really timed. It was announced before the game was even released.

It is up to Bethesda to supply the answers and none other.

True, but they inadvertently did in several different ways.

Could be some legalities there, I am sure soon? was already trademarked by DICE during BF3.
Deos this mean the Skyrim forum is going to be closed at some point because they don't like what they are reading on it, sounds far fetched but look how that turned out for the EU battlefield forums.
I jest of course. :)

or Soon is trademarked because people who were here during fonv knew what soon meant. Soon meant dun for the hillsand usually 2 weeks to 2 months after what people expected soon to be. Soon coming from a bethesda PR guy, its problemly tardemark necause that one little word from them is a clear sign to be scared lol.

Im still expecting that it will come out next month.

I have gone from excited about Dawnguard to "Eh, whatever" because of Bethesda's attitude towards their customers. Any person with one ounce of common sense would have known that when they announced a THIRTY DAY exclusiveness for Xbox that they should at least make some sort of announcement about the projected release for other platforms when that 30 days was over. Will I still buy it? Sure. More content so why wouldn't I? But have I lost all respect for Bethesda? Absolutely. I have my own small business and if I treated my customers the way Beth treats theirs I would be out of business very quickly.

If I weren't playing on PC and had access to all the mods available now and the new ones that will be created for Dawnguard I honestly wouldn't bother buying it. But they will get my money for Dawnguard and any other future DLC simply because I love Skyrim. I will think long and hard before buying anything else from Bethesda. They have gone from my favorite game developer to a third-class company selling first-class games in my opinion.

This. +1
I cannot believe there are 18 threads with an average of 200 posts about this. How can you go round in this circle so much?
How can you get this upset about it?

You should be thankful for the fact that you are in a position to complain about something that you appear to think that you "entitled" to. Move on - do something else, get some fresh air, play another game...
+2 I start feeling sick when I look at it. Other than a few, most of the things here have been said over and over for 18 Threads.

Everyone saying why some are impatient. I am patient for 30 days and for a month I have been patient. Now I see post on Twitter by Bethesda as follows, "We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I'd tell you." Source of Twitter post https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/228527108681502720 Then some XBOX users shouts or others say you are impatient using inflamatory words like entitlement?. Then somebody uses the classic line of go play another game. Remember Blizzard saying that about Diablo III single player offline or the option to play offline, "That is what other games are for..." For that remark I did purchase other games but not Diablo III. The biggest problem is that we know XBOX got it first that is perfectly fine with me. I can wait a month. But the issue is that we known that the exclusivity ended for Dawnguard but no Dawnguard yet for PS3 or PC. Well do we have to wait 60 days or longer? It like I have a part in my car and want to replace it but the part place keeps giving me delays so go to another car part place. I don't have that option with Skyrim because the part is being supplied by only one vendor. I might just go buy another game and not purchase Dawnguard at it. The moral of the story is this for Bethesda, "Be careful with how you word timing in a press release. There's little doubt that Dawnguard will come to PS3/PC platforms at some point, but that original 30 day promise is causing all sorts of trouble now." Source http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/726393/skyrims-dawnguard-dlc-still-unconfirmed-for-ps3pc/

It is in Bethesda's hands if they want to earn a profit off of their original base of players the PC gamer. I am thankful that a patch has finally been announced for PS3 but will be released soon and pleased that a new patch has been released for the PC. Last word my patience is wearing thin so get to it Bethesda. Quickly!

All due respect, but the game-change between small business and big business is astronomical. At the larger end of the scale, especially when it comes to ambitious creation, technicalities can meld with legalities to create situations like these. You should be well aware of that though, if what you say is true.

I wholeheartedly agree that this situation has not been good towards consumers, and that transparent honesty would be the ideal modus operandi, but they are no doubt restricted in what they are actually allowed to announce, similar practices are rife within big business. If someone injures themselves at my place of work, even if it was 100% my personal fault, I'm not allowed to apologise. I think that stinks, but what can you do? :(

If it's cheap, why not? The combat is... Well, clunky... But it's a fantastic game, much loved for a good reason! There's a massive hollow tree stump in Seyda Neen, get into a position where you can reach down into it and ye shall be richly rewarded ;)

Ol-Petey feeling the heat and showing a sense of humor over at twitter.

Thanks. I'd ask if anyone wants to meet up in-game, but since half of you want me dead right now, maybe I'll go solo. :-) -Pete Hines

I will laugh so hard if one of these scenarios. Telling people to wait until the end of this week to reveal:

- 360 Exclusive afterall
- it's coming to PC/PS3 but not when

"They owe you nothing" is a terrible excuse. If they CAN release it for PC and PS3, they should. Deciding to keep it exclusive would be the biggest dike move made by any video game developer.
Sure, and they could release console only games on PC. Deciding not to is the biggest dike move made by any developer.

Your logic works both ways here, and mind you, it is stupid logic.

Exactly.

No game developers owe any customer anything. But guess what? Like genuine human beings, they still do things out of gratitude for their fans. Look at Valve. They're damned awesome. Hell, last week, Gabe released FREE DLC for L4D2, then on the same day discounted the game to a fraction of the price. If the world went by Echonite's logic, what kind of world would we live in? Games would svck! They'd all be based upon Activision's business principles. Morrowind would probably still be 40 dollars RRP. Oblivion would probably still be 70-80 dollars RRP.

Echonite, why do you feel the need to blatantly defend Bethesda when they've clearly made some sort of mistake? Don't say they haven't made any mistake because the fact that this is the 18th thread on the subject contradicts that.
I never suggested Bethesda shouldn't release the DLC for us, and I hope they DO. All i said is they don't HAVE TO do anything. Whether or not they should is completely different.

Im not defending anyone. What I am doing is pointing out the stupidity in your arguments about being "entitled" to something you haven't even droped a dime for. Without investing, you have no room to complain about anything.

Valve releasing a free DLC is irrelevant. What Valve does with their products is what they do. It has nothing to do with what Bethesda does for whatever reason they do it.

In the end, Bethesda will undoubtedlty release Dawnguard. The level of demanding and lack of patience around here is... sad, for lack of a better word I wont get in trouble for.

Yes, of course I realize there is a major difference between my little remodeling business and the goliath that is Bethesda. And I understand that certain people may not be allowed to say more than they have at this point. BUT, the buck stops somewhere and the person making the final decision on whether to make a simple announcement is wrong not to do so in my opinion. I really don't think people would care as much or even be surprised if the date is pushed back. It's just the way it is currently being handled that really irritates me.
