Primm Walkthrough Video

Plus with the quest, you can (assumingly) clear the town of convicts, have friendlies repopulate, and reopen the casino!!!

Really? That sounds awesome. I often thought how cool it would be in certain areas of F3 that after I cleared them out I could develop them further, like bring a trader and more settlers to Big Town, or collaborate with Pronto the trader to entice settlers to come to Paradise Falls (once you've wiped out the slavers). I don't even mind clearing out enemies if there is just a small quest, like please go in that ruined factory and find out what happened to my brother who went scavenging in there, or something. Anything. Give me some reason to do it and I'll happily go to it. But please, not just dungeon after dungeon of killing enemies for XP I don't want and scauaging for loot I don't need.

Other than enemies, Primm is supposed to have a companion, at least one vendor, and I wouldn't be surprised if it is more a full settlement once the convicts are killed. The companion isn't the deputy by the way, it will be ED-E, the eyebot.

I just hope it's not going to be another Evergreen Mills. I don't want to see any Evergreen Mills in this game.

It's not, that I know for sure. Pretty sure it's just supposed to be a settlement with a lot of problems.

that place would have been great if the raiders weren't hostile and if they added a player home quest there.

The music at 1:12 to 1:30... Isn't that the song in BC2 when you're loading a map?

Yeah. And I get the feeling they had originally intended it to be much more. Why else would the caravans stop there? Why would anyone try to trade with someone who's automatically hostile? I guess they just ran out of time.

Actually I often get that feeling when playing F3. I come across things time and again where I thought there might of been a quest, or an oppotunity for something to lead onto something else... but it never does. In my last playthru I actually started to wonder if it's just a case of they ran out of time, or did they actually complete a lot more quests but actually took them out? I can't think of a single good reason why they would do that (unless one of the highups decided they wanted to attract more shooter fans and figured quests would just distract from the action) but I can't help getting that feeling.

Does anyone else get that?

A question for the F3 forum I suppose, not here.

It is, it's not the in game music though, the people who made the video just added it in (for who knows what reason).

Am I the only one who noticed the BEAUTIFUL facial expressions? :) I'm excited for this game, I think everything I see in the game seems better and more impressive than it actually is just because it's New Vegas.

FINALLY
YES
a revolver that doesn't look ugly as sin!
that gun that he uses in the beginning that's my favorite weapon so far (though admittedly I haven't been looking at the hype for this game)
I love revolvers and was really annoyed that there were only two in FO3, one of them being absolutely terrible in damage and the other having a completely useless scope.

and could anyone tell me if that was filmed with a camera pointed at the screen or if that footage is actually screen captured, if it was screen captured then that's great because the colors look so vibrant and environments look great, open and expansive.

from the little I've seen I'm really liking this game more than I did FO3, don't get me wrong I've had a lot of fun with FO3 (in fact I'm playing through it again now) but the whole feel, story and look of the game just seems more the original fallout style and flair

Got any examples?

I was a stealthy long-ranger with Boone in my corner (sometimes Cass) and also had speech tagged. I also play a lot of console shooters, so the mechanics of dispatching enemies at all ranges is probably helped by that. I used primarily rifles and the more powerful handguns (revolvers). When vault/cave clearing I'd throw an SMG into the mix for room clearing at close range.

Is "Oblivion with guns" really a bad thing? TBH I want NV to be "Oblivion with guns". I want to be playing the same character for 250+ hours and still have plenty of stuff to do in the game.

The whole realism argument goes right out the window when your character survives a head shot from anything. Hell, forget head shots. Chest shots from a high powered rifle using AP ammo you don't walk away from and the armor required to provide 100% protection would weigh so much it would crush the user. Power Armor? Let's see that stuff stand up to copper lined shaped charges, depleted uranium rounds or even tungsten core rounds.

When the game starts playing by old school Rainbow6 rules then you can gripe about the stat boost from a hat. Of course a Fallout game with such rules would not be very fun to the majority. There you are jogging along at full health and your character falls over dead because some power ganger you didn't see hit you with a 7.62mm rifle from 100 yards. That would get real old, real fast.

Havn't followed the whole thread.

As an avid gun-nut, I pretty much wet my pants when I saw a realistic Colt SAA reloading animation with that first pistol. (May not be an actual Colt SA, but it sure reloads like your standard Single-action revolver.)

Awesome find!
