Why are you so worked up about this particular issue?

As far I can tell, there's nothing bigger going on here than a weapon working similiarly to another. Like when comparing AK-47 and M16.

It feels like it's twisting lore.
First fire-ball weapon was introduced in 2277.
Where has this one been all this time?
That's what annoys me.
Never have we seen a weapon like it before until Broken Steel and now I'm suppose to just accept that it's been there all the time in the west as well?
Then again, as long as they leave out lore for weapons I guess they can twist it around as much as they like without breaking it. :(
(Which honestly seems to be the case here)

Because it's just a regular incinerator, not a heavy incinerator, silly.

The heavy incinerator is probably in the game, anyway, the incinerator is just a less beefy, weaker version of it.

Very probable, but still, what I wrote to UnDeCafIndeed

i really honestly hope the real time combat V.A.T.S. camera thing doesn't happen all the time, and that you have the option to turn it off. I can already tell it will eventually become pretty annoying at times. Also the loading screens look WAY less messy and more polished up, i can actually read the various tips now and make out the advertisemants which pass the time for loading. Also i really like how when he killed that convict leader, he had used up fuel tanks on him, which i assume can be refilled. Thanks for the vid! :celebration:

This may have already been replied to, but it was said in the game video that the V.A.T.S. camera could be turned off/on for real time combat. :)

By that logic. Were have all the other newly introduced weapons since the original Fallout been? :spotted owl:

Because Flamethrowers were in all Fallouts. So what is the problem with a projectile variant of it?

They shouldn't introduce any new weapons? Is it that what you are saying?

Twisting the lore? One weapon of no particular importance or substance (not anything like the fat man, for example)? You're sh1tting me, right?

I'm sorry but I'm completely at loss here. :)

Well, I'm not sure what Sawyer was getting at but thats definitely some form of the heavy incinerator.

And I would agree it's probably a watered down version with the one from FO3 being found later on.

We have one, it's called Heavy Incinerator and is in the possession of Enclave remnants and probably Lyons BOS.

Honestly, I'd change from a whiner into a gloater.

Just because you first SAW it in 2277 doesn't mean that's when it was first introduced. Games don't work like reality, you could see something in a game but lore wise it could have been in use in other locations for much longer, you just didn't see it.

Also remember that the enclave are not a major faction any more, if they exist at all. You might see lots of enclave tech distributed among the general populace, simply because the enclave in the area have been wiped out and looted after their main contingent went east.

The brotherhood wouldn't have been able to snatch all that tech up because of their war with the NCR.

Also, we don't really know the origins of the heavy incinerator. It could be that the incinerator is a pre-war design, and the heavy incinerator is the Enclave's upgraded version of it, sort of like how APA is an advanced version of the old pre war T-51b. (Well, not in design aesthetic, I think it would be tough to argue that APA is a advanced model of T-51b, I more mean it uses the same technology, just improved.)

The Enclave either improved upon the weapon's design (they do design new tech) or were only using the upper end models of the incinerator.

There, I solved the time paradox. Give me five bucks. :P

The only kind of magic hats are ones that can produce albino bunnies.

As to the flamethrower. Any sap with a tube, a tank of flammable liquid, and an ignitor can make a flamethrow. Oh and there needs to be some sort of pressure.

As to everything else, if you're whining about this game so much why don't you just walk outside and do something else.

That's why I said: "Then again, as long as they leave out lore for weapons I guess they can twist it around as much as they like without breaking it."
As long as they don't give any lore about a certain something something they can twist it all they want because it's not chained to the ground anywhere.

That can be a good thing and that can be a bad thing.
In this case I consider it both a good and a bad.
Good cause I love the HI and it's great to be playing around with it again. :)
And bad because they're probably going to exclude the lore again and have no explanation for it what so ever. :(

The Enclave either improved upon the weapon's design (they do design new tech) or were only using the upper end models of the incinerator.

There, I solved the time paradox. Give me five bucks. :P

But still, Incinerator is a powerful weapon (unless they nerfed it). Where would a convict get one of those?

AshJ, I do walk outside, and during that time I work my ass off and then walk home a couple of miles because I miss the bus regularly.
So yeah I'm just gonna keep whining about it while my feet feel like they're about to fall off. :goodjob:

Sure, no argument there. And personally I don't give a half about guns as long as the fit to the setting.

But I would be interested in backgrounds of this particular prioritizing. Why is it so important in this particular case - just out of curiosity.

As I said, lore-wise.
Something about it just feels weird...

I mean I should be happy that it's back, should be overjoyed!
HI was one of my top five weapons that I loved.

But it's been explained by others I guess: Older model, never seen other guns before, pre-war design etc etc.
And I understand all of those explanations but something about it still feels like it's poking me in the neck with a sharp stick.

By the way, man did I just kill this thread! :D Go team Jacob!

That's probably that bit of napalm that's still stuck to your neck, burning a hole through your flesh. :)
Heavy incinerator FTW.

But anyway, the convict is the HEAD convict. As in, he organized the jailbreak. I wouldn't be surprised if the NCR had that incinerator to keep the prisoners under control, and the ringleader grabbed it after overpowering the guards. Again, we don't know much of the specifics of where these convicts come from and how they broke out yet. I imagine that the convict leader stole it from some military cache nearby if he didn't get it from a guard.

Awful prison guard if an unarmed prisoner can kick his ass even when wearing a HI.
Should be fired.
If the prisoner killed him, then they need to implant his head into a robo-brain and fire him again.

I don't think I quite get the lore part in this case, but fair enough. (Although, that is a lot of agony over weapon that seems to be lobbing lumps of napalm. :P)

And no, you didn't kill it - you squatted it.

Wow... another thread full of Gabriel77Dan relentlessly whining about every new detail we get... It's not very fun to read these pages when it's just you complaining over and over.... And you know you're doing it.... How about you let the rest of us have fun? Didn't your parents ever teach you "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'?

As for the actual topic: I'm really glad to see videos similar to the demos the FO3 team released before launch... Having a game-industry pro narrate the experience is extremely satisfying.

I agree completely, but remember that "Incompetent Authorities" is a very common trope that I doubt New Vegas will cast aside.
Especially considering the themes of the game, remember that the NCR is supposed to be a bloated bureaucracy, they're paying an idiot named "Fantastic" to run their solar power plant even though he doesn't know anything, because he conned them into believing he has a "'Theoretical' degree in physics."

So a guard who should be able to keep control could easily screw everything up by doing something stupid.
