Should the Nords have enslaved the Dunmer when they came to

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 4:08 pm

You're just repeating things you've heard that sound vaguely scary and support your inherent distrust of non-natives. It has no basis in reality. There's no getting through to you so how about we agree to disagree?

There's nothing wrong with Nationalism it is natural to want to conserve ones heritage and history but you seem to misconstrue it as Ultranationalism.

Ultranationalism IS wrong the conversation of ones heritage and history should NOT come at the price of another's.

Yeah you're right there Xarathox. No race is innocent, all have commited crimes on others.

I think personally the Dwemer are the scummiest. They actually enslaved their own cousins (The Falmer) and blinded them, eventually rendering them feral.

Because until the city of Vivec fell and Red Mountain erupted, the lizards couldn't have fended off a girl scout troop. :D The only reason the Argoninas razed the Morrowind countryside is because we were severely weakened by 2 disasters.

Argonians came in like carrion birds who only eat after the animal is dead.

Silly, weak lizards. :D
You mean the same "weak" lizards who poured into the oblivion gates with such fury the Dremora Lieutenants closed the gates themselves so they wouldn't be overrun. Every other province was devastated by the Oblivion Crisis, the much worshipped House of Telvanni struggled without much success to close the gates in Morrowind while the Argonians fought back with such might they sent the Dremora into retreat?

Argonians can be fierce enemies. Think about it, they can breath underwater, whole armies of them could swim through a cities sewer system and attack the heart of the city no matter how strong it's fortifications were.

Which is great writing, when you think about it. The fact that each people has faults shows some quality understanding about differences of culture. However, I think the Bosmer are the closest to being true pacifists. Not much lore stating how dikeish their ancestors were to everyone else (actually, none that I've found).

Yeah the Bosmer seem to be the most peaceful race. Although they have joined the Aldmeri Dominion on both occasions relatively willingly. Not to mention wasn't Mankar Cameron and his ancestors Bosmer ?

Valenwoods willingness to join the dominion is understandable in the context that they knew they'd be destroyed if they didn't. Kind of the tamriellic version of the holocaust would've taken place. Even so, the Bosmer are still second class citizens under the dominions rule. And they don't often fare well under said rule.

As for Mankar..I'm not actually sure what race he was. It's been a while since I last played oblivion..so memory's fuzzy about him :P

No he's an effing Altmer. I think all the other races seriously need to exterminate the High Elves. It's ALWAYS them causing catastrophic wars and daedric invasions. Well recently anyway.

Mankar's supposed father, the Camoran Usurper, led an army of Daedra and Bosmer Mercenaries through Western Tamriel and was only stopped by a Illiac Bay alliance.

Also, whenever Valenwood is threatened a Wild Hunt is called in which the enemy is hunted down by Bosmer in "beast form".

I don't think defending their own lands counts as a war crime or violence against another race. They called the Wild Hunt on the Khajiit because they had invaded Valenwood and were ruthlessly pillaging settlements within it.

Yes, but if you have read Scotti's journal then it tells you that such an attack is a final solution as there's no turning back. The participating Bosmers turn into monsters permanently, loose their sanity and destory everyone except fellow Bosmers then turn on each other when there's nothing left. It's a suicide.

Slavery doesn't exist in the Empire. And when the Dunmer came to Skyrim, they came to Skyrim when it was still part of the Empire, I believe. Now, Ulfric's land, at least in Windhelm, and Ulfric's rule.

Septimus Scotti is a fictional character within the ES universe although you are correct it is a last-ditch defence of Valenwood.

What are the other reasons for you "violently" hating an entire race? Just curious.

Because they're a mighty race that strikes fear into the heart of all elves. A strong, united Skryim sends chills through the bones of elves and elf lovers.

That's true but his account is based on real historical events is it not ?

Same reason how all Falmer are responsible for the attack on Sarthaal, and how all Dunmer were responsible for slavery. Even though it was illegal at that point.

Supporting the Dark Elves helps found a future alliance with them against the Thalmor, so no, enslavement is a terrible idea.

Aren't the Altmer effing racist ?

Jesus do the other races in Tamriel need to wait until they're all enslaved by the Altmer before they actually see them for what they are ?

What do you mean all? If the Altmer tried to invade Blackmarsh the Elves would get their asses kicked so fast you don't even know. I mean honestly, if the Argonians can drive back Daedra with relative ease, what chance to mere(mer) mortals have?

Though I suppose the other races might have to worry about the Altmer.
