Skyrim Dead is Dead Thread IV

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:51 pm

I've been following these threads for while. Great reading thank you all for sharing.
I've been longing to give it a try but time has been short of late.
I believe, however, that tonight is the night.
I will start my new DiD character, Rommel, a male Breton fleeing a bounty in his homeland only to be rounded up with a bunch of rebels and carted off...

More fun with a new DiD character: Amarie Rane, Female Breton, starting on the 17th of Last Seed. I'm going to try to get her home base set up in Riften. Since I'm still lacking the "Hail, Sithis!" achievement, I'll take a shot at getting her through the Dark Brotherhood quest line as early as possible.

I have two characters over level 60, DiD.

Mage: Noxius, an ex-Telvanni wizard. Dunmer, 500+ years old. Primary skills: Destruction, conjuration, alchemy. Maxed out a few others too, but those are the ones I use.

Assassin: Dantus, in a group of vampire assassins who call themselves the Wraith. Use a combination of stealth, magic(necromancy), and poisons(alchemy) for their kills. Joined the DB and thieves guild but it is really just in infiltrate them. Even though it doesn't hurt I avoid sunlight. Primary skills: one hand, sneak, marksman.

Both being over level 60 I'm always terrified any time either has less than 75% health and I pop a fortify/restore health potion to boost health and replenish some. I go down cliffs VERY VERY carefully, and avoid waterfalls that are more than 2 stories tall if at all possible. Mage kills most things from range and keeps summons nearby. Assassin stays hidden and uses undead spells + poisons + health & invisibility potions when detected. So far both live.

If either died I think my least concern would be buying a new controller, and biggest concern being buying a new flatscreen.

Maybe I'd be willing to DiD on Expert though.. but master? You guys is crazy.

Flavius is still kicking, but decided to try a new character anyway.

Name: Odoacer

Race: Breton

Focus: magic

difficulty: master

followed Hadvar through Helgen. took advantage of his invincibility to level up destruction from 15 to 20 and one handed to 25, rising to level 3 in the process. Then followed him out of Helgen.

Here lies Junos. High Elf Mage, Level 29. He grew so frustrated that yet another Dead Thrall disappeared on him when they are supposed to be "permanent" that he threw himself off the bridge at the College of Winterhold to make a point...Nobody was around to witness said point being made.

*Not sure if this qualifies for DiD since he killed himself. I will still be starting a new game in frustration over gosh darn Necromancy!

A short update on Kasil. Sorry this will be more synopsis and not much story telling tonight.

Okay after returning to Whiterun, Kasil headed off to a certain barrow. There he completed his mission and then returned to Whiterun to become Thane. More importantly, Kasil helped out a certain poor redguard woman and obtained his scimitars, a bunch of them. Then he set off to Riften at the behest of the same redguard woman. Seems she was interested in marrying Kasil, so first he visited a priest of Mara. He also met the beautiful and caring Mjoll. This made him decide to stay here in Riften and help the people out. He is nearly thane but he needs more money to buy the house. While in Riften visited Shor's Stone then to Darkwater then after a short jaunt back to Shor's Stone a return trip Darkwater. Then off to Ivarstead and finally paid a visit to Windhelm and Winterhold. Now currently looking for work to get the funds to purchase said house.

Current Stats:
Level 10 Smithing 41 / One Handed 40 / Light Armor 28 / Speech 29 / All others skills < 21
Health 150 / Stamina 140

Thanks for the absolutely pointless post.

Exactly! :thumbsup:

I am trying to get Lilith to advance her Illusion a bit. I really need that Invisibility spell, and it only shows up on higher levels. But going through the countryside poses a risk too. The animals detect you faster than NPC's and one hit from a saber-cat meant almost instant-death.
I like this! The night random encounters are so different than those from the day! With my non-vampire characters I usually don't travel during night-time. I met Vampires, so sad that they were hostile... :sad:
This frenzy-calm thing is really cool, but I must get my combat skills up too.
I wonder how long the reanimate from the Ritual Stone lasts...I hear you can reanimate
Spoiler
Giants
with it! It would be nice to have one of those as I trek through the wilderness! Not very stealthy, but fun.

I know! That just slays me. I want to be friends...but noooo. It's all "You shouldn't have come here!" or "And you thought I was just a pretty face..."

I have never tried the Rit Stone. I haven't played since making it to Markarth. I need my 1H raised before I enter the city, and I REALLY need another AOE Calm spell. VOTE is good but I need to cast it a couple of times.

I will try to get some quality Hands-On-Brest time.

update: Odoacer is doing well. He's working his way through the destruction tree, and working on other magic trees as well. Currently has the dual wield desto overcharge perk and the firebolt (apprentice magic) spell, meaning he can 2 shot bandits and take down other things fairly quickly.

I do have a question to carry over from another thread. Kill sequences (impalements, beheadings, etc) do those count as dead is dead deaths too? That seems like too much at times, but I understand the reasoning if they do count.

Hahaha! I know what you mean! It's not fair, the werewolves get to have their club, why can't Vampires?
Looking forward to HoB's new adventures!

kill sequences. as in the little animations you sometimes get on targets. they're like cinematics. For example, character with sword gets one where he drives his sword through the target's chest, and the target is dead instantly.

by default I've been assuming it counts as a dead is dead death, but I thought some clarification would be nice.

That's what I thought. I lost my Red Sonja type warrior char, Samone The Crimson, at level 7 to a female Bandit Chief. Man! was she smokin' hot! I ran her as a sword and board, wearing only gauntlets and boots. I mean she was a spin off of Red Sonja, for crying out loud. The battle was close and i thought I had the BC down. It went into a finisher, but it was in a dark corner of a cave. When the camera backed out...It was Samone who was lying on the ground. :cry:

Her death was avenged by her twin sister. She had black hair though. A dual wielding warrior named Celest The Ebon. I retired Celest at level 52.

Sometimes with loss comes great reward.

I haven't played in a few days either, waiting for the CK to come out so I can mod some things before starting any new characters. My first two characters are basically retired; I did everything I wanted to with them, and until I do implement said changes there's not much point in playing them and amassing even more cash (the second guy has over 450K now) I can't spend yet.

I am looking to have my rig up and running by 03/01. I should have this done by the last Friday in Feb. There are several Mods on my "must have" list. One being Overlook Tower. My next Vamp, can't wait. My Q is, if the CK is not out yet...how the hell are these mods already hitting the public?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We entered Markarth.
Spoiler
Hands-On-briast approached the entrance from the North cliff face. She was able to sneak around the edge to a somewhat sneaky side entrance. Basically bypassing all of the guards. This will be our secret entry from now on. Under the cover of night, she enters the gate. Spawning on the other side, she was met with the disturbance of an assassination attempt. This is where any normal char would attempt the progress of such an attack, but HoB could only watch and hope she would not be detected. Not that she really gave a skeever's ass anyway.
After the event died down, she was approached by this guy and it went into dialog. No real way around this. I just wanted to get this part behind us. After he quit yappin', naturally he went hostile. She was able to calm him and had VOTE ready for alerted guards. Fortunately it wasn't needed. We just took it for what it was worth and got the hell out of there.
We decided it was best to head back to the college. She needed practice and spells. We teleported to Embershard. There was some stuff still stashed there. We gathered it up and headed to the trader. This was almost like a second nature now. Making our escape with a good amount of gold, it's off to the college. Once there we picked up fury. We needed more coin still.
HANDS-ON-briast : What about that claw thingy?
ME : Right! We could do the favor for the trader. That should promise a good bit of cash.
HANDS-ON-briast : Cash? WTF is...
ME : Coin! My dear...coin.
HANDS-ON-briast : You talk funny.
ME : Nevermind that, let's just go!
We shot to the Guardian Stones and crossed the river. She was startled by giant spider, but it was easily dispached.
HANDS-ON-briast : Awww, how sweet. A cozy little cabin.
ME : It would be best we avoid that place right now.
HANDS-ON-briast : Just a peek.
Spoiler
It's about 3AM and the clouds covered the moons. HoB approached the cabin and cautiously slipped to the front corner of the shed. Peeking around she could see an elderly female tending the small garden. A strange urge came over her and she took a small step forward.
ME : That's not your average lit...
Just then HoB closed the gap and slit the throat of Anise. It was a risky move. Had she not been successful, one blast of fire from that old witch and it would be over.
Now we had a place set up a temp hold out. We stashed everything down to a carry weight of 25. We set out for BFB, climbing the West cliff face. One by one those idiots fell to her little and not so impressive Dwarven dagger. We entered the Barrow and turned the bandits on each other. It was hilarious. I never get tired of watching that stuff. The most I have ever laughed from a game is playing ME and turning Vorcha against each other. I was making the Vorcha voices for the bandits. I was in tears.
3/4 of the way in she had reached 90 in her Illusion skill. I had a perk saved for this. taking MotM, we now had control of the undead. Again the tears flowed as I LMFAO. Her Conjuration is still very low so we just let the Flame Atro whittle down the end dude.
It is now about noon, so it was off to the trader. He was happy to see us and his damn claw. So happy, that calm is no longer needed. They welcome HoB without any hostilities. This gives us the opt to work a little hocus-pocus on the Blacksmith. All the while dogging arrows from that damn elf! God! I HATE that guy! I have some very special plans for him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

@ Blackwyrm : I feel ya. Keeping up with them can be hard. I eventually got to the point where I just naturally keep an eye on them before I travel or enter another cell. Sometimes they just remain on the other side. I go back through the door and they are just standing there or they are lying dead for some reason.

Looking forward to hearing about the new char.

@ Pahldus : Kasil and Mjoll (plus the other dude) sitting in tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g....Sorry I couldn't help myself. They say that when we get old we revert to our childhood. Yay, I will never play COD. No matter how much I revert.

Good luck with Kasil's future adventures.

update: decided not to make Odoacer a DiD character. Considering it is my first time on master difficulty, I still have much to learn, so I'm going to play him normal style and I'll start a new DiD master character later. Disregard my above DiD intro for Odoacer.
