Skyrim Dead is Dead Thread IV

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:19 pm

Alright, this one really p##### me off. I was having a blast with this character, but much like the "stealthy" giant that killed a previous character, this character also got killed by a giant!

Here lies Zorin Morgoth. Male Breton, level 28. He found his end under a giant's foot.

I need to start soul trapping from a distance.

EDIT: Hey look! I got 100 posts! I need to go spend more time on Skyrim.

@SENIOR CINCO. Yes, it's really exciting. I'm very happy that I started a S4 Vampire. It really fells like I'm "in the game" because I'm so concentrated. The VOTE worked, and good that id did, because I had no Calm at the time. I really enjoy how you present HoB's adventures! Where do you go for smelting the ores? I find it impossible to enter Whiterun to use the smelter...or you just use the ingots that you find?

@Fewr. Wait, are you a Vampire OR a Werewolf? Or both? You can do that? And good job on your latest quests, those are tough ones!

@Deerber. Good to see that you made it out alive!

OK. I decided to take over Anise's Cabin. Why the hell did I do that? I already have enchanting and alchemy tables in the College...needless to say, the following night I decided to go out and steal people's Wheat and pluck the wings from the Luna Moths. So when I exit the mine, right at the entrance I'm greeted by 3 heavily armored thugs out to teach me a lesson! Oh, great! I used VOTE on them, then it was a very long run-snipe-calm fight. I am ashamed to admit that I used the river as help. The AI is kinda stupid sometimes...
After I dispatched them I went to the nearby farms for the Wheat. It was actually funny to hear the guards with their funny accents shout : Ahh! A VAMPIRE, kill it!!! Die Vampire! then Hey! I didn't ask you to cast your magic on me! (calm spell)

So not much adventuring, but will do, will do!

EDIT: Blackwyrm. I'm sorry that you lost another. Those Giants are really out to get you! Do as I do, for each DiD character that I lose, I take my Dark Brotherhood strong lady and go avenge them, in a gruesome way if that's possible!

Ops! You're right, Senior Cinco! It's just that... A-hem... I don't know how to do that. How can I use the spoiler tags? Could you explain it? Thank you, I'm sorry for my noobiness! :)

Oh and yes, this is a truly remarkable thread and I'd like to thank everyone who shares the adventures of his character here so that I can enjoy it like I do!

I'm both. I'm a werepire. Trust me, it comes with significant drawbacks. and technically no, only way to do it is to become a werewolf, use the console to remove disease immunity, and then catch vampirism again. Even then, your console work is not done. If you ever transform into a werewolf, once back in normal form, you must use the console to reset your race as a nord (or other basic race) vampire, otherwise you won't be able to feed and will eventually be stuck in stage 4.

and those are just the console tasks.

you still suffer reduced health as you increase stages, you still get no rested bonus, you still suffer extra fire damage which, considering werewolves have no health regen, can easily kill you.

Enering any hold is tricky. If you approach at night, there will be less people to deal with. ( you probably figured that part out, huh? ) One trick i learned was to sneak up to the door under Inviso, prep my Inviso spell, activate the door and very quickly release the spell. You will spawn on the other side under Inviso. You can then silently kill the posting guard. ( i like to drag the bodies off into the shadows or pending patrols, leave them as bait for the other one. MOOHOOHAAHAAHAAAA!!! ) The smelter should be easily used at that point. But you need not tarry, you could still be spotted by a wandering drunk.

There are a couple of others outside of towns.
Spoiler
One is guarded by one or two Winterhold patrols, at the mine just down the road from Winterhold. Another is a mine east of Markarth above some guy's house, at a "T" in the road with a Bridge. Once you kill the Foresworn it is a good place.

I save up ore for those. Usually i just use ingots.

Anyway, I'm glad to here your char is as much of a blast as mine. I wish you continued success. BTW I saw her pic in the other thread. I love the claws.

@ Deerber : That wasn't directed at anyone. It was just a friendly reminder to everyone, myself included, that we want this to remain in the GenDis forum. Great reports on your char.

Thank you SENIOR CINCO for the great tips! HoB is clearly more experienced than my Lilith! I don't know what Lilith has been doing for the past hundred years that she's such a noob now.

I'm thinking of modding the Riften house to have a Smelter, although I'm not sure where I'd put it, since you can access it from outside town. I'm also considering having my H2H Vamp blow off quests completely and live entirely off the land, so he might take over a dungeon that has one and use it as his base instead.

See, that is why I want to move to the PC. Can't you just use the Console Command to spawn all the crafting stations in one cave or castle? Then set it to NOT reset? There is one ruined castle that has a room w/ everything but a tanning station and smelter. I would LOVE that place for HOB.

EDIT : that is the house I used for my first vamp. He was just a regular Vamp that fed all the time. He is what inspired me to play a S4V-24/7. I took my next char, Rouxsepia, to level 60 as such, but she used Anise's Cabin as a base, for the whole game.

If TES was available on Macs, I'd probably make the switch just to have the availability of some of those crazy mods. Not sure if it's possible, but it'd be so cool to make your own "wizard's tower" of sorts off in the wilderness.

Decided today that I have run into too many dungeons that have kicked my ass but thanks to reloading after death I am often able to defeat them eventually. This changes today as my last "unmodded" playthrough will now be dead is dead.

Currently Crito Varo is level 15, a scout in the Imperial Legion and has organized a triangle trade with several bandit groups. He has some adequate magic skills, specifically in Restoration and he has a knack for archery. I know dead is dead is meant to be played from the early levels on but I figure im in a pretty challenging range now, ie draugr bosses, dragon priests, giants, mammoths, crits from bandits and stormcloaks all can kill me and have killed me about 10 times before today, but now he will die should he be killed =P...

Varo is now on his way back to Solitude after running some missions for the Legion. While in Solitude he is going to do some fishing and maybe a little bit of bird hunting so that he can fletch some of his homemade arrows.

So... you are taking a character that has died multiple times and playing them as a "This is THE last time" DID? :read: :deal:

Unfortunately, no. Cell respawning is handled on an engine level, and you can only change it via editing the cell's properties in the CK. Not that the crafting stations would disappear on cell reset anyway, as they are marked as being 'Persistent' references and thus get carried over.

yes pc is awesome. Most importantly: werepire! plus, if you feel like it, you can mark followers as essential (though don't do it for all of them), or,if you want to quest during the civil war and feel like you're actually part of an army, you can use Bat .txt files ti enact console commandes when you type enter. for example, I have a mod that, when I type "Bat i" in the console, spawns about 8 Imperial legionares at me. Same thing if I type "Bat sc", except the spawners will be stormcloak. It's really nice during the battle missions (ie, fort attacks, whiterun, solitude, windhelm) you can also resurrect guys you didn't mean to kill.

also, for you: Embershard mine, just south of Riverwood. Inside it has beds, tanning rack, and blacksmith, pretty sure it also has grindstone and workbench. Just needs that added smelter, an alchy table, and an enchanters table and it's the ultimate vamp base. well, once you clear out the weak bandits of course.

Hi there fellow DiD players!

Quick update on Lilith. Took over Halted Stream Camp.
As I approached from the south gate, on my left there were 2 apprentice mages (one fire, one ice - of course the Fire Mage won, this game is trolling me  ) , on my right, 2 wolves and 1 Spriggan, in front - the bandits.
I avoided the Mage (especially the mage, 100% weakness to fire at S4) and Spriggan and proceeded to frenzy the bandits, yeah! Let them be my servants!
Inside it was not so hard as I expected. I managed to get the Chief to do most of the work for me, and when that was over, and he was exhausted and weak, he fell under my spell once more and I extinguished what little life was in him.

The only problem with using Embershard for that is lack of space to put them in. Interestingly, the very first time I cleared it out I was thinking of renovating the place and kicking the bandits out permanently (i.e. deleting them from the cell in the CK), but later decided not to bother after finding some more suitable mines and ruined forts (note to self: check wiki for more candidates). There's also the side issue of setting up camp in there meaning that the ore veins will never respawn, which is a Bad Thing? if one is into Smithing.

Haven't checked in for a few days. Delvin and Jenassa continue their adventures and try to find wedded bliss amid the problems besetting adventurers:

Delvin (as Jenassa comes running up the path): where were you, dear? I just got jumped by three Wisps, two Shades and a Wispmother.
Jenassa: I don't climb rocks; I stick to marked paths.
Delvin: But you're a Ranger.
Jenassa: Just because I like Kynareth's furry creatures and enjoy being around trees does not mean that one of my parents was a mountain goat, as one of yours must have been.

At another occasion:

Delvin: It's nice that you have set up a store to keep you occupied. May I see what you're selling.
Jenassa: Certainly, dear. Have a look.
Delvin: My, that Elven Sword and War Axe are very well made... Wait a minute. Didn't I give those to you as an engagement present?
Jenassa: Perhaps. Or perhaps they are just a cheap Argonian knock-offs.
Delvin: But I made those especially for you. Why are you selling them?
Jenassa: Because my lawyer said they were not community property and I can do whatever I want with them. If you want them, fork over the septims.
Delvin: But if I ask you to trade gear with me, you let me just take them.
Jenassa: True, dear. But you asked to see what I had for sale.

On another occasion:

Delvin: Honey, I'm getting a little hungry. I don't suppose you could fix me one of those nice home-cooked meals, could you?
Jenassa: Certainly, dear. Just as soon as we go home. Until then, it's field rations or starve.

Delvin: Sweetie-pie, it's cold in this sleeping bag. Can you do anything to help with that?
Jenassa: Of course, dear. Here's a torch. Be careful that you don't set anything on fire.

Wedded bliss ain't what it used to be.

Now see...I honestly believe, that until you can invision your character having conversation with other NPCs, that one can truly have an ultimate RPing experience.

Sorry it has been awhile since my last Kasil post. I haven't had much time to play the last couple of days. However here is what I did get accomplished(told with liberally applied roleplaying):

Kasil had just spent a restful night at the Bannered Mare Inn and received an edict from the Jarl of Whiterun's mage to retrieve the

However, Kasil was not confident he was ready yet for such an imposing task, so having heard that Dawnstar has

, Kasil grabbed a carriage ride up to Dawnstar. The driver did however let Kasil that there was no return trip possible unless he returned immediately. Well that wasn't going to work so he decided he would simply have to hoof it back on his own.

Upon arriving Kasil visited the

Kasil set out to visit this stone on his way back to Whiterun. On his way up this mountain he faced several wolves and learned of the base for the

before finding the stone. He also discovered a hidden shrine to one of the Daedric Lords as well. There were some bandits at the standing stone that attacked Kasil on sight. If only they would have understood that he would have left them alone, but now I guess they are entering Sovngarde. He activated this standing stone and instantly felt its power.

He now headed down the mountain on his way back to Whiterun. He avoided the fort at the bottom as his experience thus far in Skyrim told him that most likely the inhabitants would be hostile to an outsider like himself. The rest of his journey back was fairly smooth. Kasil had to dispatch some Frostbite Spiders but they weren't really a serious threat. On his way back

he did come across a weird little man calling himself Cicero. It seemed Cicero's wagon had busted a wheel and he needed help getting it fixed. He asked Kasil to convince the nearby farmer to lend a hand and Kasil said sure. He approached the farmer and only after some serious convincing did the farmer agree to help. Kasil informed Cicero of this and was thanked with a pouch of gold for his troubles. Nearly back to Whiterun, Kasil was attacked by some bandits as he approached the northern watchtower of Whiterun. With a little aid from the guards, Kasil dispatched them with little trouble.
Now he is back in Whiterun where our journey will continue.

It is with great sadness that I must report the demise of Delvin Wickhouse and his wife, Jenassa. Having carved their way through hordes of Draugr and Bandits, uncounted wolf packs, a dozen dragons, a few giants and more bears, sabre cats and skeevers than can be easily counted, they were done in by a lone Bandit Marauder who could launch Fireballs faster than healing potions could be chugged. When news of their passing reached the headquarters of the Thieves Guild in Riften, Vekel the Man remarked, "Wickhouse? Don't we have a Guild Master named Wickhouse?" To which Vipir the Fleet replied, "We have a new Guild Master? Why doesn't anyone tell me these things?", the memo regarding Delvin's promotion having apparently been misdirected to the Honnigbrew Meadery or Black-Briar Meadery West (there still being some confusion among the affected employees as to its proper name). They are survived by their loyal housecarl, Lydia, who could only manage a muffled "Mmmfff mmmfff" due to the bread in her mouth. Sources in the Whiterun marketplace predict steep 2nd quarter losses as Lydia will now have to find a real job to pay for her bread.

Date of passing: 26th of Sun's Dusk, shortly after midnight. Level 25.

Starting a new DiD Character today, my 3rd....

Manthrax the Wood Elf ftw! Perhaps a character inclined towards sneaking and long-range (read 'cowardly') combat will live to an older, riper age.

Great thread, this. No headstone's required, but RIP's go out to my two previous DiD Characters:

Grimnar the Nord - Toasted by a Dragon Priest, served on a bed of whitehot armour plates, with a side of steamed Lydia.
&
Sir Bradicus - Gang-banged by Sabrecats...and not in a good way.
