Skyrim is really boring now.

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:36 pm

I don't know what to say. I have been playing over 150 hours of this game and still finding fun quests, awesome locations, and having fun leveling up(I'm a level 51). My brother is over 300 hours and still is playing on his one character and still loving every moment of it. I guess we have our opinions.

Edit: Also, Op I am a Paramore fan, too.

Once the Dev Kit comes out their will be more quest more equipment and more styles of characters.

I have some stuff in planning, like a hand to hand skill tree, pole arms, throwing weapons, and the thing I really love doing quest writing.

I'm not bored in the least. In fact, I'm overwhelmed because there is so much to do.
I could spend hours merely:
-exploring unmarked terrain on map
-organizing/decorating my house
-walking around interacting with people

I get so easily sidetracked in this game, it's ridiculous.
I've been playing non-stop (to the point of being completely unhealthy) and I still haven't finished the main quest
I also am yet to experience:
-Thieves Guild
-Companions
-Dark Brotherhood
-Imperial/Stormcloak
-Nearly every "miscellaneous" quest

It's hard to explain exactly where all my time went. I am pretty unfocused when it comes to quests, yet somehow in my Skyrim experience, it feels like A LOT has happened.
I've seen my character grow in spirit and in battle. I've endured the loss of Lydia and three black stallions. I've trekked through swamps and forests and to the peak of snow-capped mountains. SO MUCH has happened, yet... so little has happened. It's a beautiful thing if you ask me.

Not to defend Bethesda overmuch, but that's called a game ending. There's just no more meaningful content, you're done, start a new character or play something else for a while. It's not because there's no official ending that the game can go on forever. I mean, I was fed up with those Radiant Quests at level 15.

70 hours?? Pfftttt.. I have 236 hours over 5 characters and still find new stuff. I have 710 hours logged for New Vegas. Always something to do, places to explore, or new builds to try.

At about 96 hours; just got into plate armor; I haven't even been to all of the cities yet..still only have one stupid house. Not bored at all. If i do, can drop into another game for a bit and come back. That's the great thing about TES games; continue a game or start again. Always something new can happen..

"Dude, this book I just bought is [censored], its missing the last 300 pages......."
"Yeah but dont worry, its a 1000 pages book so you got a good 700 out of it, thats more then most pocket formats will offer you!"

Terribad argument is terribad.

No you have a terrible arguement. Skyrim doesn't have a standard gameplay length like a books page number. That makes no sense. Do you even know what you're talking about? Because the OP is obviously trolling.

Wow that is a great anology. That makes a lot of sense and have never thought of my gaming like that

That's the way I've thought of gaming for a long time. When it starts to feel like work and you sort of find yourself in this habit of playing a certain game whenever you have spare time but aren't really having fun anymore... that's when you know you're 'full.' Time to take a break, and later get a different 'meal.'

70 hours and you don't know what to do? Your bored? Go exploring, I am 260+ hours into this game and have only explored ....maybe 40-50% of the dungeons. Make yourself a Mage type, Thief type or Archer type character and then bump up the skill level to Master....we shall see how bored you get reloading your game whenever you run into a bear your first 7 levels or so....lol

You can tire of anything eventually. This may be Oblivion(Morrowind?) on steroids but it`s still Oblivion!Bethesda - Please take note.
BTW It`s still the best game ever made (for those who don`t like any criticism of the game).

Skyrim was a load of fun when I first got it, I'm now 70 hours in. With Dragon Armour and about 50k gold, and there really isn't much to do anymore. I have the best weapons, and the best armour and there really seems to be no point to carry on.

Anyone else feel the same way?

No, I don't feel the same way. Then again, I play perma death on Master difficulty, I also build my characters based on realism and all of my characters eat atleast twice a day and sleep 8 hours per day. So, it will probably take me another 6 months before I finally reach the end.

Gee, only 70 hours of fun and entertainment?

But to answer your question - No, I don't feel the same way and I am well over 70 hours.

Each time I hit level 30 I start to get bored with Skyrim. What I do to try to is take break from Skyrim for a few days or a week or I just delete that character and start anew.

People are still confused on what the argument is here. Yes, the game has a lot of stuff you can do. For the most part it is a giant sandbox game. The problem people are having is that rewards and item/character progression basically stops fairly early into the game. This ruins the enjoyment for a lot of players considering it trivializes content for one, but also there are no rewards in the game for completing quests. This makes the storyline take a backseat. You may be ok with doing content just to do it and that is fun for you, I won't argue what is fun for you. There is a definite problem in that character progression stalls mid-way through the game for many people through no fault of their own.

I understand your arguement perfectly but maybe I play really differently because I don't share your experience and still feel I'm developing after over 100 hours. There seems to be always some cool new perk or something I want to get or new cool thing I want to find/craft etc.

Multiple characters with very differnt paths might spice it up for you though.

I'm almost 50 levels into my second character and still loving it. I'm also still discovering new things, new tidbits and such that I missed the first time around. Even new quests. If you approach the game like an actioner, where you MUST have the best stuff to beat the next boss, well, you're going to be disappointed AND you're not only playing the wrong game, but the wrong genre entirely.

Sure everyone was excited and loved the game for the first 20h but then what?... there is absolute zero replayability  the dungeons look all the same, radiant quests are utterly boring, there is no special loot, there's like 4 armor set ...

I can see why you would want to point out somethings that you think should be improved on, but understand that evey game is not going to be tailored to you.

This is where you're wrong. This game has mods that enable you to tailor the game directly to what you want to do. A short wait and the arguments about content in this game will be as dead as the dragon priest I left crumpled in the corner of Mzulft last night.

My first playthrough took ~90 hours, then I lost interest to continue with the character (lvl 32 nord twohanded warrior) and created another. Now I'm playing my third character and steam says I have played over 200 hours  So, no, I have not lost interest in the game, but I find certain characters uninteresting to play, for long that is. My current character is Imperial Assassin and his the most fun to play I think.
