It's one of the best I've ever played, but I don't think it's number 2.

Official reviews for Skyrim in general were a joke. Ratings within what, a couple of days of release? That's just ridiculous and outright stupid for a big game like Skyrim.
The reviewers had received their copy a few good days before official release.

Nah, they're just brainfarting lies about this studio because they're hidden behind a nickname and nobody will bother asking them for proof. And of course it's cool to bash a game that sold 10,000,000 your e-[censored] is getting bigger.

It's been a long time I don't remeber details. Anyway that pretty much how it works what do yo uthink the Marketing departs of companies do?

Though I must also say that IIRC, Portal drew inspiration from something as well, but I forget what.

Okay, not to be offensive but...this will be offensive.

You are having some major cognitive failure(or you are having one of those :bonk: days) if you think the number of posts or time spent on this forum has any relation to Skyrim or that having an opinon that does not match your own is automatically stupid and worthless.

If someone says Skyrim was worthless then yeah, that is their opinion. If they back it up with reasons then it is perfectly valid and should not be met with all these posts like your just trolling etc... If not THEN proceed to bash them and say they are haters/trolls blah blah blah....

Oh so a "master piece", is good eyecandy with weak shallow story and quests and 2 dimenional repeating loop NPC's with unbalanced game play mechanics and broken quests galore eh? XD

That's beauty of Skyrim, it's so shiny that it blinds the player for the first few dozen hours or so that they can't see the uglies. And since no reviewer can afford to put that much time in the game, it gets perfect scores :hehe:

It was about at 60h when i went from  to

The redeeming factor of Skyrim though (as with the last two TES games) will be mods.

So for me, it goes from being amazing at first, then reality sinks in and it becomes very mediocre, then a year or later I play it again with a ton of mods and it becomes one of the best games available.

The games industry publications (which include review sites) are supported by ad revenue, and it's been years since the two were single and occupying their own beds. This does not mean that every positive game review is influenced by ads and any negative review means no ads, but the magazines probably aren't going to hire reviewers who have sufficient critical apparatus who think independently.

Skyrim probably make my top 10 .
From a technical stand point its probably top 30 .
But people seem to forget is that a review is an opinion there isn't a science to reviewing.

yeah thanks for digging that up. :)

You can also see evidance of this in return views on games. IE When Fallout 3 first arrived you seen al lthe "best game evar" review where the game does no wrong, but many of those same sites then come back and start pointing out all kinds of flaws and give the game a lower score.

PC Gamer have been paid off and they would love Bethesda games still even if they release the next Elder Scrolls with no keyboard and mouse support. It's beyond belief how PC gamer svcked upto this game, when it was released in such a [censored] state.

While I LOVE Skyrim, and have logged over 240 hours in my single campaign...I have to agree. It isn't the quality of the game's content that I have an issue with, the game is truly amazing content wise, but rather the huge number of bugs and incompatabilities which made made it into the actual game, not to mention that there is NO reason for Skyrim not to be 64 bit.

Only a small fraction of players are trying to run this game on a system which barely meets minimum requirements, you can't buy a 32 bit system any more...the fact that this game lacked real 64 bit support, neglecting all of the benefits which would come with it, make it a glaring red mark in my book.

Yes Skyrim is a great game, but no way is 2nd best ever, that being said...how the HELL did portal win that list?

I remain of the same opinion unless they received their copy like 3 weeks earlier.

Imagine if we had a portal spell in Skyrim! That would mean it would become the greatest game ever!

Didn't bother reading the full thread, just skimmed it but what I have read is making me laugh my ass off, with all of the posting of lists and outrage over rankings. The point of making lists like the one PC Gamer has made is to generate rage and controversy, commentary and traffic. Seems like mission accomplished 1000%+++ to me.

All of you angsting over this, you've been played.
