All the rewards and appreciation Skyrim gets are well deserved in my opinion. This game is a masterpiece.

Wasn't aware masterpieces were allowed to have game breaking glitches.

1.Deus Ex
2.Oblivion
3.VtM:Bloodlines
4.Morrowind
5.Star Wars Rebellion

Deus beats Oblivion because of its truthfulness to reality

Oh so a "master piece", is good eyecandy with weak shallow story and quests and 2 dimenional repeating loop NPC's with unbalanced game play mechanics and broken quests galore eh? XD

Might as well add a list of my own, but purely based on the amount of impact it had on me at the time of playing ("wow"-factor)

1. Command & Conquer
2. Heretic
3. Warcraft 2
4. GTA: Vice City
5. Half-Life
6. Morrowind
7. World of Warcraft (I hate the game now and consider myself to have grown out of it, but damn I had some epic experiences whilst it lasted)
8. Half-Life 2
9. Diablo 2
10. S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl

Main reason for all the old games is because I was much younger then, and obviously games have more of a chance to have a big impact on you as you're more oblivious to any shortcomings. Of course, it does help that in those days gaming in general was much more niché and there was an emphasis on delivering solid, original products.

Speaking of "oblivious to any short comings" it seems alot of reviews point fingers at for instance FO:NV and deduct score but completely ignore Skyrim when it suffers from even worse in said areas and clout it a perfect game! and so forth.

Also Heretic but no doom? That seems strange.

The moment you could emulate CT on PC made CT > Skyrim as a PC game.

But, to take directly from PC games...

TRIBES
Half Life 2
Counter Strike
Team Fortress 2
Unreal
Quake
DOOM
Marathon

All should be higher than Skyrim.

And that's just in the FPS game category.
Not that I disagree that those are more revolutionary games in their genre than Skyrim was in whatever genre we decide to put it in, but why are you including HL2 but not HL1? HL2 had a great engine but the single player game was, IMO, more a tech demo than a good shooter. Far, far too much weight was put on the grav gun and much too little on actually making a game that would be fun, with enemies that weren't too dumb and multiple approaches to each level. And what's with the hovercraft levels? Or that buggy? Yeah, cool, HL now has proper vehicle support. Great. I'm not playing HL because I want to [censored] drive around, am I? Just let me get the gauss gun and kill something, god dammit!

Anyway, I'm not saying the list is worthwhile, I'm saying that them leaving CT off the list is because it's a console game and not because all 100 games are better. :D

No game is perfect Skyrim is not perfect but then again neither was morrowind or anyother TES game when they were first release. In all honesty a majority of the rpg's currently on the market are in aspects complete and utter garbage, some so much to the point its insulting to call them rpg's. My Defintion of a truly good rpg is simple

Reward and challenge the Dedicated, Frustrate and punish the Lazy :)

Official reviews for Skyrim in general were a joke. Ratings within what, a couple of days of release? That's just ridiculous and outright stupid for a big game like Skyrim. I think most of the crowds who tend to criticize Skyrim were also first blown away by the world's aesthetic values and the novelty of the mechanics, but by the time you get to see the actual content (Skill trees, guildquests, main story, sidequests, etc..) you start realizing that it's really not all what it is hyped up to be. There's even official review sites that have taken back some of their initial praise after a more realistic timespan.

And well, I just didn't play Doom as much as Heretic. There's also Duke Nukem 3D which probably should have a spot in my list as well :V

Oh so being here since 07 and having like 5 times more posts in the FO section doesn't count right all my posts are in skyrim threads? XD
