I think Skyrim just replaced Final Fantasy VII as "most overrated game" of all time.

#2 game of all time? Not really. If it was #2 game in the past 5 years or something I could understand that, it's a great game, but it's definitley not second best of all time.

is pc gamer suppose to be legit or something? Never bought one, never read their reviews. I wonder how much research went into this list or is it some dimwits personal top 100 that he's allowed to print in magazine?

I havent read the article but thats mighty silly. Skyrim is one of those games you need to play for a while before the flaws seem apparent and ranking it as number 2 sounds like something my non existent 3 year old brother might say in the first few minutes of playing. Half Life 2 is a much, much better designed PC game.

What is Portal?
I don't really care. Portal doesn't enter anywhere in my top games since I've never even played it. Skyrim, well maybe but probably not top 5.

I wouldn't care, it's a horrendous game...

Honestly I am not sure where Skyrim falls on my list. Going to try to place it now hold on. I am leaving mods out of this btw.

1- Zelda- Ocarina of Time Master Quest (N64)
2- TES III: Morrowind (PC)
3- Final Fantasy X (PS2)
4- TES IV: Oblivion (PC)
5- Might and Magic XI: The Mandate of Heaven (PC)
6- Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
7- Dragon Age: Origins (Xbox 360)
8- Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360)
9- Civilization (PC)
10- Zelda- Wind Waker (Gamecube)
11- Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor (PC)
12- Zelda- Majora's Mask (N64)
13- Age of Empires II (PC)
14- Age of Mythology (PC)
15- Zelda- Skyward Sword (Wii)
16- Demon's Souls(might deserves a higher ranking) (PS3)
17- Dark Souls(might deserves a higher ranking) (Xbox 360)
18-TES V: Skyrim?? I guess? (PC)

Skyrim is my eight favorite game that I played on PC. Then again I have not played all that many games for PC.

Assuming the CK gets released, and then give it a year or so for the mod'ers to do their thing, then rate a mod'ed version of Skyrim? Eh, maybe. As it is vanilla no, I can't say I would agree with that. I thoroughly enjoy the game, and is in my personal top 5 favorite games, but to give it an objective #2 all time? No, don't think so.

#2 based on what?
Graphics: Hardly
Storyline: On par with the Twilight series
Innovation: More or less the same as previous TES games
Sales: Far better than any previous game in the genre...but not even close to CoD

I think the game is great, but if ranked as #2 I will agree with those who place it among the most overrated games of all time.

Opinions are like a@@holes... everyone has one!

I do think Skyrim is the best game I have played in recent memory, and I have played all the other TES games going back to Arena too, never could get into portal, don't see the fuss.

Never played a Final Fantasy title either although I have vaguely heard of them
Not sure it makes any sense at all to make best game lists when the games are so very different from each other

I guess I must be old. I never played Portal, never even seen it played. I kinda know what it is cause I saw it in a comic strip once.

One thing about the list - many games were better on the console than the PC. First-person shooters, hell anything looked better on TV. It's not surprising that those popular console games are farther down the list.

But not to have Baldur's Gate ANYWHERE on that list is a crime.

No it isn't in my opinion. It was very good though. Probably somewhere between 19-30. I would have to place it after Link to the Past though. Come to think of it that should be higher in the list lol.

Yup was a great series. Very few M&M fans left I think. Shame it went down the drain and almost the entire original team is all gone. Ubisoft has the IP now I believe. HOMM 6 is not bad but nothing like HOMM 3 if you were into Might and Magics turn based strategy/RPG franchise. Was fairly successful too. Talk about choices that have actual effects though, get to choose sides and all that good stuff in M&M 7. Come to think of ot HOMM 3 deserves a place in that list too.

Sigh...nostalgia...

I never played it so I cannot add it lol. I have been hearing about it for a long time though. I also need to try Half Life and such as well. Better go find that Orange Box.

I haven't played 3 for years lol. I loved the crap out of that game! I never figured out the Map Editors for HOMM 5 or even 6 yet. That is where I got most of my fun with 3 lol. 3 was the last one set in the world I actually liked. Then they moved worlds because of a catastophe...why?!?! lol

I was always Haven for some reason. What was your primary faction?

Slow and strong. Hated those damn cyclops and Thunderbirds. Good thing I had Archangels to resurect my units though.

On the other hand, what modern action gamer hasn't tried Portal? As it happens, I haven't, but at least I've heard that it's supposed to be great and innovative, even if you don't get to blow things up, cut them into small pieces, or burn them to a cinder. And since I don't get to do any of those things, I'm really not interested in the game at all.

Except for the part when you use explosives to tear the enemy to peices and throw them into a fire.

It isn't the bulk of the game, but it is there.
