:banghead:

Not to sound angry or anything but its been months since release and i still cant get past several quests without skipping entire parts with command line and [censored] around with lots of mods.

And i 2 corrupt saves.... 1 save that always spawns a radscorpion infront of me that suddenly goes superman and flies 1km straight up.. then falls down and splats near Novac.
Now i really really want to play this game in the weekend.

Am gonna start fresh ... make a new char... have a good time..... And for the record

I dont want this to happen again

With all the bugs this game has, the patch should be at least a gig

Anyways looking forward to it as the bugs and CTD's have killed all joy of continuing the game. The most exciting thing about the game thus far is waiting for the CTD to occur.... :goodjob:

Well don't expect any miracles when it comes out. It's out on PS3 already and is a 20MB patch. Judging by all the complaints I'm not sure this fixes what everybody wants it to

20 mb means they have update.esm as a patch, and plugin with such size can fix very much :)
But I hope PC users will have FalloutNV.esm updated instead

If you have mods effected by the patch having a separate ESM has some advantages (and a small DL size for the dial-up users). Not to mention we can open it up and compare the overrides in NVedit. And from that know what FIX mod's to disable.

I drooped by the PS3 forum and they are still complaining of bugs some in stability and performance and still some quest related ones that the community has fixed.

Guess the media was wrong that this would be "the big fix" or some such hype.

We can only hope, but no.... I don't expect miracles, just a working game. And 20MB seems light for a "major" fix so.....

Anyways I do hope the patch pans out as I already feel like I paid 70 bucks (CE Edition) for a glorified expansion pack.

Well to be completely fair, the size of the patch is pretty meaningless. You've got to remember that the files that actually take up space (textures, audio, etc.) are not being replaced. What is fixed that we know of our gameplay and scripting bugs and I would imagine that other bugs could be fixed with a new executable which is less than 10MB. So 20MB is probably right. But the PS3 owners are complaining about freezing and stability issues which broken quests aside I have on the PC version. Other than the scripting bugs I've encountered, I've had numerous CTDs and enemies stuck in walls/rocks/falling through floors, etc.

Will this patch reactivate the 'cloud support' for savegames?

It's pretty darn extensive

Does it fix the huge and constant fps drop on certain ATI cards that the last patch introduced?

Yes, massive. Stability issues will be (if will be) included into fallout.exe, so it will cost 16-17 mb
3 mb remain- and it is huge value. Overhaul mod can have size 3 mb, and it is very big number of changes.
Most gameplay bugs will require numerous, but little changes in the quests, scripts and dialogs, it will take a few kb. each. :)
And don't mind another platforms- our experience will be very different

So... Did Obsidian find a way to merge the new changes into the existing FalloutNV.esm without having to upload the whole thing? Or is there a separate patch.esm? Probably not, that would be really awkward.

And yeah 3 MB worth of changes in the GECK can be quite a lot.

Probably not, sounds more like troubles due to engine/your pc.
You may try some of the advices in the http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html, they should mostly apply to NV.

They're probably waiting for 12/24 or 25 so it can be the Christmas Miracle. Maybe the 26th, but if not by then, we'll probably have to wait untill everyone involved gets back from vacation sometime in early 2011. But then there are all of those other projects schedluled to kick off by then. Quite possibly they'll put out a pre-patch release trailer then and end it with "coming soon" to buy another month.

Squaresoft/Enix apologized for the embarassing state of Final Fantasy XIV. Anyone else think we deserve the same? I'm not saying Obsidian needs to commit verbal hari kari like Mr. Wada did, but something would be nice. Maybe a free DLC in the form of a new weapon and/or outfit, perhaps? Here's what was sent to their fans/customers:

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of Final Fantasy XIV.

While more than two months have passed since the official launch of Final Fantasy XIV service, we deeply regret that the game has yet to achieve the level of enjoyability that Final Fantasy fans have come to expect from the franchise, and for this we offer our sincerest of apologies.

After thorough deliberation on how to meet those expectations, it was decided that the most viable step was to approach improvements under new leadership and with a restructured team.

To realize this vision, and in doing so, provide our customers with a better game experience, we have assembled our company's top talent and resources. Taking over the role of producer and director is Naoki Yoshida, a passionate individual for whom customer satisfaction has always taken top priority. Not only is he one of our Group's most accomplished and experienced memebers, Naoki Yoshida is also a charismatic leader possessing the skill to bring together and effectively helm a team which encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. We also welcome several new leaders handpicked from other projects to work with existing talent on Final Fantasy XIV.

We realize time is of the essence and are fully determined to provide our customers with quality service. It is because of this that we ask our customers to be patient until we are able to confidently present them with a concrete plan outlining Final Fantasy XIV's new direction. The free trial period will be extended until that time.

Regarding the Playstation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011.

The Final Fantasy XIV team is working hard to bring our customers an unparalleled adventure, and we ask for your continued understanding and support as we march ever diligently towards that goal.

President and CEO, Yoichi Wada

FF XIV is a MMORPG, they need subscriptions and so you get those type of messages as without players paying every month, its dead in the water.
FO:NV is not even a multiplayer game.

To be blunt, the only reason Square Enix is apologizing is to prevent the player exodus from the game that would kill it (as MMO require a core player base) and so would mean all the money they invested would go down the drain as for FO:NV they have no reason to do so as there is no subscription model attached or require a player presence for multiplayer, only DLC serves as a incentive to put out patches.

To return the favor, who cares what the business model is or what game modes F:NV supports, it's the principal in this matter. At least Squaresoft/Enix manned up and did it. You say Obsidian has no reason to apologize, but I disagree. Because of this situation, I'm not spending a dime on DLC for this game. And glancing over the complaints from the PS3 camp on the new patch, it looks like we have yet another mess on our hands.

Sounds like all the idiots responsible got fired. That's the way it should be. I think the people who directly worked on this game should be fired or transferred to the basemant to work on pong 3 or something.

The people in charge that made the decision to release F:NV in the state that it's in should face action, not the hard working coders and artists just doing what they're told to make a living.

Besides, if working (I'm happy that it is for me), FONV is actually a pretty good game with lots of great content.
According to reviews that cannot be said for FF XIV.
