Still No Patch?

Post » Mon Apr 11, 2011 10:19 pm

Back on topic, it seems they have submitted the patch.

Today or tomorrow seems reasonable.

I wonder if it will be just bug and crash 'fixes' (ha!) or will they introduce new gameplay changes too? More spawns for example?

I know about the sniper gun balance fix that they've hinted at, but what other actual balance changes do you want in the game?

my pc version on steam just patched.

actually i think that might be the old patch. cant check because steam is decrypting another game.

but the exectuable for fallout 3:nv now says version 1.2.0.285

so someone can compare that against their own patched game and see if its newer. like i say, it might be steam hasnt updated my game before. ive got 4 pc's on the go and i dont which one has what i times.

My current file version is 1.2.0.285 - my Steam is offline and I don't wanna update until I know this upcoming 'patch' is safe.

No, that's not a new version.

Exactly. Why even say it just patched?

because it did just patch for me.

sadly my 4th computer wasnt synced as i thought it was and my jubilant thoughts of playing new vegas again were suddenly cut short when i saw black ops, that i bought launch day, only just start decrypting. :/
which is why i edited my post after crying buckets of blood and swearing at my monitor.

To update, we’ve wrapped up work on the latest Fallout: New Vegas patch and submitted it. Will let you know when it’s up on PS3, 360, and Steam.

Does this mean anything to anyone? "Submitted" to whom and for what? If this has been submitted for certification, it won't be available for at least a week if past experience is any indication. This isn't particularly useful without some elaboration such as an ETA and a changelist.

Hoping it'll be in the next few days. I don't have an exact ETA. When we know it's up, we'll let you know. We're putting together notes on the update, too.

What's the hesitancy to publish the notes now if Bethesda/Obsidian is done with the patch? Is there a possibility that some fixes may be pulled if they are not approved by Sony/Microsoft/Steam's certification testing?

Where does the PC (non-Steam) version fit into this? Does the PC patch have to wait for Steam certification/approval? If so, what exactly is the reason for this? I would think that if it has been approved by Bethesda, it should be good to go for PC users that aren't using Steam.

There is no non-Steam version of the game. All legal versions of the game use Steam, and Steam will be the only source for patches.

I don't follow you. My copy of the game (PC-DVD, Games for Windows) certainly does not require Steam to play, nor is it an illegal copy of the game.

There is No non-Steam version of New Vegas. Reguardless of whether its digital download or disk, you still have to authenticate on Steam and Steam is still required to run.

If you know of a way to install this without steam. Please, let me know. I am an inch away from returning this game.

You can switch steam into Offline mode and you will be able to start both Steam and the game without internet connection even

Either you haven't bought a copy of the game at all, or you've purchased one from a pirate. Beware of buying games from people with Parrots and eyepatches.

s part of a Q&A series on the gamesas forums between Fallout fans and the New Vegas team at Obsidian and Bethesda, Senior Producer Jason Bergman revealed that the PC version of the upcoming RPG will require Steam activation. "Fallout: New Vegas uses Steamworks for achievements and other features (such as friends lists, cloud storage of user preferences and so on)," he said. "Use of Steam will be mandatory at retail."

How did all your saves get corrupted on the PC? I've never heard of that one before.

Did you know the game automatically makes a backup of your quicksave? Did you try that one? Rename the ".bak" version to replace the ".fos" version.
