Stupid ways to die in Skyrim

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:22 am

The back of Windhelm is a mountain which appears be close enough and high enough to allow you to "jump/fall" pass the walls into Windhelm.

I figured there will be a forcefield to block me and I will simply slide off. I was 1/2 correct. There is forcefield. But it uses the bottomless pit effect.

Thank you sir, for saving me from finding that out on my own. Always wanted to try that to see what happened and now I know.

so i was walking through a forest, taking in the sights and sounds when suddenly i was attacked by a spriggon. so i pulled out my bow and went to work but she was kicking my butt. so i ran as fast as i could, but i couldnt get away. my hearts pounding, the screen is flashing red, but then i noticed a little cottage not far ahead of me, i ran straight there and just barely made it inside. oooh yeah im safe, stupid spriggon. :yuck: i noticed a lady sitting at the table ahead of me  initiate conversation mode, but before i could out of nowhere i see a bright yellow flash and hear a screech and a bbzzzzz. "nooo" i thinks to myself there's nowhere to run no hope she killed me in one hit im on the floor dead when the lady at the table says to me ''oh a visitor, please stay awhile''

I Slid off a cliff last night with my level 7 character so I ran like crazy towards it to slow my descent and actually made it! I looked up to see how far up I had fallen and thinking it was a really lucky escape. I generally play in first person mode so I didn't notice the Frost Troll behind me until the death cutscene.

More than once I thought I had Become Ethereal as my active shout, only to Whirlwind Sprint myself off a cliffside.

i have not one, but a series of deaths and events that really happened to me last week. level 10. this happened:
i was doing the Companions quest that involves (spoiler alert, i dunno how to do the button thing yet) killing the glenmoril witches (off with their heads!). or, i think it was that one. to get there, i jusyt followed the river from whiterun (my Clairvoyance spell wasnt showing the path) until i got to a water fall i had to climb. i saved, went around it (there is a hill-like bit that lets you reach the top), i saved. i walked forward and... bear attack. died.
then, when i respawned, i tried to kill it again with a Bound Sword. did well, but died.
then, i cleverly used Summon Flame Atronach as well as Bound Sword. i killed it, crossed the river, and some ghostly dude killed me near a building. can anyone explain?
failed to kill the bear with flame atronach and bound sword and Sparks four times. fifth time, i killed it, and avoided the ghost dude. got to the witches cave. killed a witch. saved. killed another witch, and was killed by one that snuck up behind me. killed a second witch (i saved after killing the first, not the second) and fast travelled back to whiterun. when i got there, i realised i had forgotten to loot the head. went back, got it, and found Aela outside of Jorrvaskor, raging about two dead silver hand.
then i went inside, and Kodlak's dead. crap. if only i'd remembered the head the first time...

That seems to be a common occurrence around here...

I recently had a character die in the tutorial, entirely due to me messing around. I often delay reaching the keep for a bit to listen to Alduin's rants (I have subtitles on) since it takes a bit for him to come after you, but this time I was a bit tired and didn't keep proper track of where he was; I get to the keep and spend a moment to decide who to follow, at which point he lands behind me and fries me.

Every time when you count on that your next move is to shout then when you press Z shout doesn't come out and you get confused and killed because of that. I hope they'll fix that shout stuck bug for the next update.

Done a similar thing, thinking I currently had Unrelenting Force to shout him off the wall and suddenly zoomed off into mid air myself. Look ma, I can flyyyyyyyyyyyyy... splat.

Playing "Who's the better marksman" as a mage throwing fireballs at a bandit archer on higher ground. I won and was satisfied to watch his fiery body fall to the ground. I go to collect my spoils and jump off a cliff into the river between me and the bandit only to misjudge the distance to the river and die mere inches from water deep enough to save me from bone crushing agony >_<

My personal best has to be running through a pile of bones in the opening cave (lvl 1) and being killed by the rebound. Owned by bones. Woop.

Ha ha :) Yay verily them bones are a hurtful lot.

For me it would be doing a power acttack and missing the enemy completely as i step on a trap floor trigger which sends a steel gate slamming into my near dead character who ends up..dead.

Another stupid way i've died is being in a hurry while almost dead and instead of healing up ending up killed by a skeever or almost dead master vampire.

Derkeethus sprinting at me, knocking me off cliffs. He never learns to stop running at me. And I never learn to stop standing on the edges of cliffs.

Also, the other day in a dungeon filled with oil, a mage stood in the oil and cast a fire spell at me as I tried to sprint to safety. Huge conflagration. Killed her. Killed her friend. Killed Derkeethus. Killed me.

I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took a wooden cart to the knee.
A mammoth fell out of the sky while I was battling a bandit thug and killed Me, him and Marcurio. Hat-trick for the wooly mammoth.

I often use those traps to kill my victim by standing just beyond the pad. The first time I did it, I misjudged the distance and it got both of us.

My funniest may be the first time I investigated those jars that hang from the ceiling in Draugr dungeons.

Don't stand underneath them when you first take a look.
LOL.

This isn't about the PC dieing, but rather an odd way for a dragon to cop it.

I was at the dragon perch northwest of Shor's Stone, the one you have to climb through a mine to get to, and stealthily shot the dragon dozing on top of the word wall. He flew up and around so I thought to get the word while he was trying to find a good landing spot on that tiny area. I got the word and then heard the "whumph" of a dragon crash-landing. If you've seen those, they usually skid to a stop, plowing up the ground. I turned to see the ground churning from a point near the cliff edge right past the word wall, but the dragon wasn't there. Then I heard the dragon making a kind of disappointed noise, but where was he? The red dot was gone. So I went to the edge of the cliff where the furrow began and peeked over the edge. There was his corpse, half way down the mountain! He must've brained himself and fell to his death. I also found a rabbit and a fox stuck to the nearly vertical terrain when I got down there myself.
