Stupid ways to die in Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:49 pm

Thinking I was immortal during the opening scenes, and being a bit too fascinated by Alduin. One annoying crazily jumping bug less around the head, he must've thought as he blasted me away.

Oh, and i have a bug(?) which causes my character to always ready her healing spell instead of also firing it. No, I'm not holding the mouse button. So it's not my first time I died while having the spell ready, and heal after I'm dead. Unfortunately, it doesn't resurrect me. :sadvaultboy:

Got attacked by three wolves early in the game, and I couldn't take all three on yet. So I decided on running around a bit, filling up my health and stamina, and went back to finish them. Unfortunately, I must've ran around a LOT, because when I turned around to face them, about 20 of the animals suddenly caught up to me and encircled me, completely blocking me from any escape path. Needless to say, I didn't last long ...

Using J'Zargo's scrolls when fighting several undead during Potema's quest ... :stare:

Using whirlwind sprint or Kyne's Peace instead of another (offensive) shout on numerous occasions. Result: sprinting right into enemies's arms (or mouths), sprinting off cliffs, being owned by draugr deathlords who don't like Peace, and so on.

Was attempting a dramatic entrance into a den of necromancers, conjurers or somesuch... the plan was to leap down fron the entrance platform-thing into their midst and, in a flurry of whirling blades, dispatch the malevolent fiends.
As it turned out, I got hooked up on a piece of scaffolding. Eventually they noticed my frantic pogoing and crouching and electrocuted my sorry [censored].
LOL, this is fantastic. Wish I could've seen it. From the necromancers's point of view.

Talking to a Guard while trying to pay off my bounty (I'm sorry for casting Fury on that chicken) with another Guard sneaking up on me and playing the kebab game with my back.

Falling off that whale bone bridge. Sorry, no spoilers. Also, getting fired in the air by a Giant.

You can fall of that? I thought there was like an invisible barrier or something. Been a while since I was there though.

My very first time and very first death in Skyrim:

I spent too much time deciding which door to take in order to enter Helgen's Keep. Alduin firebreathed me. I died.

To this very day, I STILL feel stupid.

Isn't that bridge pretty straightforward? I mean, literally. How do you fall off that?

Oh, wait... are you on console? Because in PC I can only go in 8 directions in a line

I'm on console. But it was hilarious because once I saw the bridge I thought, "that's what that poster was talking about" and I was going to make sure to be extra careful. Well, I was in awe by the scenery and nearly fell in on one of the "short ribs" but barely saved myself by jumping a couple of times.

I too got caught up in the scenery and the significance of the occasion... and not knowing at the time when I was going to be magically booped back to Tamriel, I was trying to take in as much as I could every step of the way. Even before I went back out to cross back over, I spent a lot of time running around to see who was in the hall and talking to NPCs of note. But at some point I got close enough to the "important" ones that it initiated their scripted stuff... and still I kept wandering around looking at stuff. By the time I realized they were on their way out, I was way behind and sprinting to keep up. And I had a very Nervous Purvis hand on the mouse because OMG THIS IS IT I'M GOING TO DO THIS THING!! and that was not a good combination. I jumped, oh how I jumped, leaping and cursing and clawing frantically for purchase as I dropped to my impending doom.

I'm sure Alduin got a lot of laughs telling *that* story to the other dov on poker night.

"So, yeah, the Dovahkiin showed up to kill me the other day. You'll never believe what happened. She actually... oh man, you are gonna love this... she fell... and died..."

*pauses to wipe tear of joy from on fiery, evil eye*

"...trying to get... across the @#%& bridge!"

*cue Dragonlulz*

Forgetting I had recently used ethereal shout before jumping off a waterfall... tried to cast it as jumping... but the cooldown wasn't done yet.

Sad part. I play dead is dead, and that was a level 72 mage who had done EVERYTHING but finishing up the main quest. Now his son is running around... level 11 right now, and he has a fear of heights.

This is something like this for me too. Near Whiterun, there is a bandit camp whit a hole full of spikes and when I visit this place from the door inside the camp (whitout falling into the hole) I got killed just by touching the spike.

My personal best has to be running through a pile of bones in the opening cave (lvl 1) and being killed by the rebound. Owned by bones. Woop.

Glad I wasn't the only one :)

Random thief running up to me and initiating dialogue while I was losing a fight against an ancient dragon. By the time he shut up, the dragon killed me.

Using telekinesis on an NPC.
I remapped the keys because I'm left handed. Right Caps for shout and right CTRL for crouch.

Seeing a goat on the bridge to Windhelm on my first visit at level 9. Drew my bow and then went to crouch to see if I could one shot it sneaking for the 2x bonus, tapped the caps key for my unrelenting force shout by mistake and hit a guard. It wasn't until then that I realised how many guards there are on Windhelm bridge.

What was most annoying is that I had got quite a few wolf and bear pelts on the way there and my load game took me all the way back to when I exited Whiterun. Took the carriage second time rather than do that run again though.

Fast-traveling to Winterhold College, after the loading screen, my body would be seen crashing into the base of a ravine. Repeated several times. Decided to alter the game a bit, mounted my faithful steed Frost, rode a bit before again fast-traveling to WC. This time after the loading screen, saw me and Frost get catapulted off the top of a sleeping Ice Bear (into the ravine). Apparently the Ice Bear was sleeping at the fast-travel spawn point.

My dumbest death was not really my death. I killed shadowmere! And I realley miss that horse. I was riding around the north up in the mountains and I ended up going off a cliff. I ended up on sea ice and survived, but poor shadowmare didn't and I didn't want to reload because I just finished a mask battle or something like that.

I was taking the shortcut down from Dead Crone Rock (walking along the steep mountainside), i hadn't killed every Forsworn in the area, so i decided to use Aura Whisper to see if the coast was clear. Only i had gotten the hidden treasure at the tower so...

You guessed it: Wuld! Splat!

Chaurus reapers get me everytime. I always think they are going to be easy and three snaps and I'm dead. I shouldn't be so cocky with them and give them a bit more respect.

I'll bet this has never happened to you!

I'm playing an Argonian thief in Nightingale armour, and I'm clearing Fort Hraggstad of bandits in the first civil war quest. I'm alone and using reverse pickpocket to poison the bandits and Mehrune's Razor to finish them off. Downstairs to the last bandit in the prison, and he's a marauder, so he's taking a lot of lingering damage health potions. I got him to about half heath when my luck ran out.

I try a couple of swings with the razor, but I'm really weak when it come to melee, so I decide to make a run for it. I got to the top of the stairs and I see "close door" on the HUD. Thinking this will buy me a couple of seconds to get out of the building, I give it a go.

The split second that I pressed the button to close the door, the bandit marauder's kill animation kicked in - the one where it spins you around and you hit the deck. SLAM! The door closed as I was spinning, trapping my head! The last thing I saw before the load screen was a closed door, a Nightingale cape dangling from it, and an Argonian tail shuddering in its death throes.

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor - I couldn't believe it.

The back of Windhelm is a mountain which appears be close enough and high enough to allow you to "jump/fall" pass the walls into Windhelm.

I figured there will be a forcefield to block me and I will simply slide off. I was 1/2 correct. There is forcefield. But it uses the bottomless pit effect.

My funniest may be the first time I investigated those jars that hang from the ceiling in Draugr dungeons.

Don't stand underneath them when you first take a look.
