I support the Storm Cloaks

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:13 am

Well the encounter you get once you enter Windhelm for the first time is pretty much self-explanatory.

And neither of those two guys are stormcloak members. Even if they were, two racist drunks does not make up an entire group of people.

That sort of reasoning leads to the line of logic that all imperials are murderers because of the imperial captain at the beginning of the game.

It is convenient for the Thalmor that the Stormcloaks initiate the rebellion. Remember Ulfric was set loose.
It's not actually right to say they initiate it. Imperials took their religion away first.

I will give 10000 septims to the one who brings proof that the Empire is against the worship of Talos :twirl:

The WGC signed by the empire demands it. Been sympathetic and forced still does not change the fact Empire actions are against the worshiping of Talos.

Actually there was three groups - Don't forget the France which supported the rebel Americans because it was way to weaken British Empire. Of course the Thalmor is not supporting Stormcloaks, but they still have a kind of similar goal: to weaken the Empire of men.

Actually Thalmor do support the Stormcloaks. If you read the Dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak at the Thalmor Embassy you find out that the Thalmor consider him an asset, as he keeps the Empire busy. However, a victory for neither side helps the Thalmor. Ever wonder why Stormcloaks don't encounter the Empire's Elven Allies when attempting to take over Skyrim? An Imperial victory means a stronger empire. However, a Stormcloak victory means a stronger Skyrim, and the Thalmor fear that the Hammerfell incident would happen all over again. What use is the Empire to the Thalmor when it only controls no other provinces(if that eventually happens)? Though it does not happen in the game, I would assume that Skyrim will form an alliance with Hammerfell, and Highrock might be pressured into joining as well.

A stormcloak victory is pretty much a guaranteed death of the empire as it is. I'm pretty much 100% certain High Rock will secede in that case given how power hungry their nobles are.

Single Khajiits can enter and leave the towns. But no Caravanes are wanted because they sell Skooma and Moonsugar and other "illegal" Stuff.

Are you sure about that? You are the sole exception, being the 'Dragonborn.' The only Khajiit I have ever seen in a city was J'zhargo, and that was in the College.

Certainly not, but you can get a picture on what's going on inside town, can't you? It's a hint.

This sort of reasoning lead me to believe that Ulfric, or the Stormcloaks in general, were indeed a racist bunch. Turns out i was right about him.

Yeah I did get a hint because I actually checked around town.

Nurelion(altmer) owns a respected alchemy shop in town and has no problems with the locals.
Niranye(altmer) owns a stall at the market and says while they weren't trusting at first, she proved her worth and was accepted whereas the dunmer refused to cooperate in any way.
Ulindil(altmer) owns the stables of the town and seems quite pleased with his life.
Arivanye(Altmer) doesn't have any issues with the local nords.
Revyn Sadri(Dark Elf) has no issues with the locals and the guards even recommend you to his shop when you talk to them.
Hlaalu(Dark Elf) farm outside the city employs a nord who doesn't mind working for him.

My friend, long before the Imperials "took their religion away", Ulfric was already on the hunt. You really should read Thalmor's dossier on Ulfric.

Only your imagination, I'm afraid, fired by that one incident.

As others pointed out: elves and other races work and live in the city. Nothing sinister going on.

Are you sure any Khajiit would like to live in Skyrim? If you talk with caravan Khajiits you'll find out that they dislikes the weather and the cold air of Skyrim. They have came here only because they can make good money during the war. I doubt that any Khajiit would ever stay and live in any of Skyrim's cities if he's not getting a really huge pile of gold for it - which seems rather impossible to happen.

Yes they only don't let the Caravanes in. But since the most Khajiit prefer the warm sandy deserts of Elswyer (as they always say) there aren't living any Khajiits. I think it is just to cold for them there.

welll you guys forget something. it is the contract between the thalmors and the empire which does forbid worshipping talos. so, if you beat the thalmor, the contract isn't needed anymore.

this makes the stormcloak thing stupid. if they just help the empire against the thalmor, they would be able to defeat them and the contract ends too.

so i couldn't really support the stormcloaks. it's all a stupid honor-thing. the smartest choice would be to work together with the empire, as soon as they are ready to go for the fight. this war just weakens both sides. not the thalmor though.

Ulfric POW until 4e175
WGC 4e175
Markarth incident 4e176
Ulfric imprisoned by empire for over 10 years. Did prison involve a hunt of some kind?

?

So why is Hammerfell allowed to secede and Skyrim isn't?

There is a book called "The Talos Mistake" which is written by Imperials. It tells quite well what the Empire thinks about worshiping Talos as one of the divines.
For example it has this sentence: "The Emperor agreed to the outlaw of the worship of Talos because it was the right thing to do."
This in-game-book is really easy to found in several dungeons and other places and in this link you can read it on the wiki http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Talos_Mistake
I actually stole that book from tolius or whatever he′s name is. imperial scum

@Dust

"Niranye(altmer) owns a stall at the market and says while they weren't trusting at first, she proved her worth and was accepted whereas the dunmer refused to cooperate in any way."

Besides that, Windhelm was offered as a safe haven for the Dunmer of Morrowind after the erruption of Vvardenfell, which was over 200 years ago, long before Ulfric or his Father. They've always lived in the sickly Gray Quarter, even when the Imperials had a say in it, the civil war has just made discrimination worse.

He had the option of fighting, but he went the path of the coward and gave up his people's freedom. The Thalmor wouldn't of even proposed the White Gold Concordant, unless they were severely weakened as well. Both the Empire and the Thalmor were in tatters at that point. Titus Mede should've made it a fight to the death, winner takes all. It would've been a gamble. The Empire could've won, or the Thalmor could've won. Better to die on your feet, than live on your knees.

Not the way of the coward but way of the sane person. If had to choose between fall of the empire and total elven domination vs White gold concordant I would have choosen the same as Mede. Although what you say about fighting to the last makes sence, but Mede did not think the Thalmor was as weakened as it was.

If the storm cloaks won, how long do you think it would take the Thalmor to retake Skyrim? If they can't push the empire out of their own land how could they hope to defeat the Thalmor? The Empire chose to sign the White Gold Concordat because the chances of them winning the war was pretty slim. Better then losing the war and having the Thalmor ruling all of Tamriel.

They've always lived in the sickly Gray Quarter, even when the Imperials had a say in it, the civil war has just made discrimination worse.

I'll try to explain myself better. The example i gave about that encounter isn't determining on whether the people from Windhelm are racist or not. I thought more about Ulfric. I've spent quite a bit of time on that city and i got the impression that all the other races, especially the dunmer, the argonians and the khajiit are unwelcome. So then i spoke to Ulfric and confirmed my initial suspicion, that he was indeed a racist leader. Now, this doesn't mean all the people in the city think like he does, no. Perhaps i spoke from a wider angle when i should have stated my argument was against Ulfric and Ulfric only.

Also have you read a book called Scourge of the Grey Quarter? The preface says A complaint on the presence and behaviour of the growing Dunmer population of Skyrim.

Don't want to jump into conclusions, but this alone says something at least.
