The Dark Brotherhood... better in Skyrim or Cyrodiil?

Just a general query to find out whether or not players prefer the DB questline in Skyrim or Oblivion.

For me, OBLIVION!

Thanks in advance for all your feedback

I've spent very little time with the DB in Oblivion, so take this with a grain of salt. I love just about every character in the DB in Skyrim. Except cicero. Im sending him to Oblivion! While many have argued the various guilds were better in Oblivion, it often took far too long to actually finish the questlines. That's why you see the shorter and streamlined quests in Skyrim.

Skyrim.

and why? in Skyrim you do like 2~3 quests and you is already the mofuking listener, in oblivion you work work work alot to in the gran finale be rewarded as listener :3
and the quests in oblivion are so much funny and creative, the only awesome quest from the DB in Skyrim is the emperor assassination plot :/

The quest-line is far more compelling, with greater reaching implications. There was only really one thing I liked about Oblivion's DB and I'm pretty sure that thing (Mansion quest) is high on most peoples list. I also prefer the tone and characters of Skyrim's DB (except Cicero, uugh).

Imo they were in even in terms of storyline, but oblivion had more fun missions. Skyrim's on the other hand became really epic towards the ending and even topped Oblivion's

Cyrodiil, ALL because of the Black Hand.

I mean, WHY WAS THERE NO BLACK HAND IN SKYRIM? ;_;

You yourself just say "For me, OBLIVION!" without explaining why but when DeanG says "Skyrim." he needs to explain? xD

I prefear the Oblivion one, sure the skyrim DB is great, but the Oblivion DB was just epic. Ohh and i miss Vicente Valtieri my former mentor, the child vampire in Skyrim is kinda nice offcourse, but i wish they hade given her a more uniqe look and some more interaction & spookiness (A child vampire in a assasin guild has SOOO much spookiness potential). Offcourse i also miss Lucient Lachance (Hes just pure epic, the ghost in skyrim isent enof, no charater in Skyrim gives me the same impact).

Skyrim's DB was supposed to be a shadow of her former self. They didn't get their contacts from the Black Sacrament/Night Mother, they were just plain paid assassins...

Skyrim for me. Wgen I did missions for the skyrim DB I did it too help the DB. I was just more invested in it since I wanted them to regain past glory. I enjoyed the Cicero abd emperor stories more than the black hand one from OB as well. OB DB story was still good though.

the brotherhood in skyrim is pathetic, like festus said, nothing more than a band of hired cut-throats. the oblivion brotherhood was much more fun, had much better characters (i love cicero but no one in skyrimm is half as well done as lucien) and was longer (length is good, beth, not bad)

I liked Oblivion's more. The quests just felt more fun to me, and I felt like a real assassin doing those. In Skyrim, I felt like a mercenary for hire or something. A stealthy mercenary, but still... The quests were still fun, and I enjoyed it, especially near the end. I just hope in the next name, assuming there is still the Dark Brotherhood, the organization will be back on its feet again.
Oh, also, the characters were better in Skyrim. :)

I wish I could combine them both to be honest. Oblivion's had a much more interesting and engrossing questline.. but I like the look of the Sanctuary's in Skyrim's. I also like the uniform better in the Oblivion version. It seems odd that an assassin would want to wear an outfit with flashy red accents if they're trying not to be seen. Should've been all black a la the Nightingale armor.

Thanks for your response and i completely forgot to state my own opinion,

Basically i prefer oblivion because for me i find the storyline much more involving and also i prefer the characters and the sanctuary,i fell that the questline in skyrim is far too short and with the characters involved in that storyline i fell that they could have done a lot more with them, also i find the quests in the skyrim DB too easy when compared with the oblivion Db (spoiler) as in the quest in which you must infiltrate the prison

I have seen many threads on this topic and most people favor Oblivion. On the surface, I would too. More detailed assassinations in Oblivion Better guild mates, deeper plot with twists and turns along the way. Skyrim had huge shoes to fill here. However, the whole backstory and demise of the DB in Skyrim plays off the the end of Oblivion's. Not going to post any spoilers but the Black Hand fails to exist atthe end of Oblivion so the downfall was inevitable. Then in Skyrim, Astrid has forskaen the 5 tenets and is running what is left of the DB into the ground with her rouge approach. I was devastated when I first came upon the santcuary to find this out. I hated Astrid for that and wanted to start a revolt right then and there. Now dig a little deeper. you have so much potential here with the questline. Sure you can go and kill each target easily or you can RP it to leves where the sky is the limit. What I am saying is that the two cannot be compared as they are not apples to apples. The DB was at it pinnacle in Oblivion and has fallen on hard times in Skyrim. you get to build it up again and Dawnstar is amazing. I will say that the armor and robes were better in Oblivion but what do you expect from a dwindling group?

I prefer skyrim's dp over obilion as it has more interesting plot twists and characters are a lot more interesting. In oblivion you just raise through ranks in a steady pace. The problem with skyrim is that majority of the assasinations are pretty straight forward with almost zero risk of getting cought (although I blame this on bad stealth mechanics and piss poor AI).
