I play on a console, but when I build my new PC I will be switching to PC because it is better.

If PC gaming is dying, it's because developers allow it to do so.

It's dying and no one cares. That's the first sign it's already dead.

Got Morrowind for the Xbox.

Got Oblivion for the 360 (Hell, Oblivion was the reason I got a 360. Oblivion + Morrowind is why I got a better PC.)

Switched to PC.

And it became infinitely better. Period.

I'm of the opinion that the pirating and illegal downloading of games as well as the 'stubbornness' of the PC crowd whereby they play their 1 or 2 games and fan made mods for each and buy nothing else are the main causes why console gaming will be more and more the main gaming market.

Gabe Newell and Markus Persson both disagree with you. PC gaming has made them both rich.

Illegal downloads, poor community, too expensive to run games at a level that consoles do for a fraction of the cost, etc. There's a lot of reasons it's dying, although I think many would consider it dead already.

Only console players say PC gaming is dying. Wishful thinking.

The fact that PC's don't have the number one place anymore in terms of sales doesn't mean it's dying.

Console gaming pretty much has the market cornered, its just more convenient for most people to turn on there 360/PS3 without having to worry about minimum specs.

Nothing against PC gamers, I was one for many years but with the exception of certain titles consoles are where the money is for developers.

How is illegal download the reason for "PC gaming is dying"? Piracy have been a problem since forever, yet PC gaming was never in a decline, even until now. "PC gaming is dying" is just a stupid phase started by trolls and the ignorant. The amount of people playing real PC games are still much higher than any multi-platform and console exclusive titles. Console gamers are the target market for AAA games, not every game. There are still plenty of games released exclusive for different reason and make plenty of profit. If Skyrim was PC exclusive, it would not make as much profit as a multi-platform title, it might not even break even. However its AAA, at today standard set by our lovely franchise, CoD, you need bombastic action packed explosion and guns of some sort funded by a budget bigger than a summer Hollywood film to be consider good enough and make enough profit to justify the ridiculous budget.

because consoles have a bit more foothold than before, and it's different. People are afraid of different things.

I think I've heard that PC gaming is dying ever since I got into PC gaming; indeed the console vs. home computer (as they were then known) squabbling pre-dates the appearance of the original IBM PC. PC gaming is alive and well and will continue to stay that way; unfortunately the usual arguments overstating the rumours of its death will continue likewise.

I replaced my gaming PC with a hgh end laptop. Nowhere near as powerful graphics-wise, but wayyyyyyy my convenient... So now I look for games with playability rather than uber graphics.

As long as there are PC laptops there will be PC games.

How can people here actually DENY that PC gaming is dying? You guys gotta take an unbiased look at the situation. Games that were once PC blockbusters are now either ONLY on consoles, or have 80%+ of their players on consoles (like Skyrim does, for example) when a new game comes out. PC gaming isn't just dying, it's been hanging on for life by a thread for years now.

I don't think it's dying, but piracy is obviously one of the concerns making some developers only develop for, or focus more on, consoles. Price I'm not sure about anymore, decent PCs are getting cheaper and cheaper. Plus, I can't see myself ever moving to console, and I think a lot of PC gamers feel the same. As long as that stays true, some developers will make games for PC even if it's considered more of a niche market or something they port to rather than develop for. And as long as PCs are still superior machines, those games in general should be at least as good as console games. Not too worried about the health of PC gaming.
