The Skyrim Dead Is Dead Thread

Been having some fun with other chars, figure I'll give DID a shot. Starting Geidon, a redguard smithing 2h axe. Here we go.. think I'm gonna go all over the shoulder view to give a better view of the axe cleaving some guys in half, don't really like this view so it'll put that much more of an edge on it I think. Shunning most towns except for trade and an occasional smith, this outta be interesting =o Up to 6, with such feats as retrieving the Dragon Stone and running down an elk to put it to the axe blade, this warrior could go far

Ronsvik was one-shotted by a hagraven fireball thing, does that still count? Or can I revive him? Is there signs of life?
About to start another session playing S'Thassa, and have a quest to go fight those things; after my experiences with the lightning-slinger in that mine I am not looking forward to said mission, and might even delay it until I have a better summon to distract them with.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I forgot to mention in S'Thassa's intro that I am playing not only D-i-D but blind to boot, so have absolutely no idea what I am getting into with each new situation. It makes exploring each new interior that much more thrilling, since i don't know who or what is hiding in there nor how to properly deal with them. Sadly, my next character will have a far easier time in the mine mentioned in my previous post, since I now know that certain spells and perks I took should be delayed early on for my type of character and the subsequent ones will be much more efficient and effective in the early going. On the flip side, that also means I'll be able to wander more, with the probable consequence of running into something I'm not quite ready to fight, so it may yet even out.

Guess I should provide an update before I disappear off for the weekend.

I'm still on my first character, now a level 23 Argonian jack-of-all-trades. He primarily uses a war axe (currently on an exquisite elven war axe with no enchantment) in his right hand, with the noob fire spell in his left. He also has an exquisite elven bow, used primarily for hunting, but also to get a critical hit or two in on opponents before getting up close. The axe is used far more often than the destruction spells, but he's recently joined the Winterhold College in a bid to raise his magical strength. His steady source of income is from smithing the hides he collects into fur armour, so his smithing skill is at a fairly good level. Further to this, he's been slowly raising his alchemy and enchant skills. Sneak has also been rising in line with his hunting, while lockpicking is used whenever required so that is rising too.

The lack of specialisation is starting to cost him now he's getting to higher levels. No one form of attack is really devastating, so he's made himself an elven shield to help limit damage taken. He's been close to the grave on a number of occasions, despite the preferred tactic of "run away!" - once he was set on by three bears, and only escaped with his life thanks to an almost forgotten fireball scroll, when turned all three bears into steak. Another time, a battle with a blood dragon would have ended in death, had it not been for some last-minute gorging of 50-odd apples, 30-odd carrots, and well in excess of 70 tomatoes. There's a lot to be said for eating a healthy amount of fruit and veg.

Despite having Lydia available as a companion, he prefers to travel alone (the poor pathfinding in previous games has made me reluctant to take on any passengers). He may be forced into taking on some help soon though, giving the increasingly difficult nature of combat.

I'm really pleased with how he's coming along, although I haven't really explored his race too much. RNG picked Argonian for me, but I never really feel they're complete without a spear in their hands. He'll be getting a prominent place in my hall-of-the-dead mod for sure, once he goes. Might give him his own armourer's shop.

The memorials and causes of death make me laugh so hard. Keep it up fellas. I could never do this myself, I'd probably throw a brick at my laptop every time I died.

I should point out though, if you're going to write RP texts about your character, make sure to spoiler them if they contain any important reveals from the main quest lines and such. Not everyone has the game yet and since this isn't the spoilers forum they might not be expecting any here.

I don't play DiD myself, though I might on my next character.

Anyway, I just read through the epitaphs and just wanted to say I salute you, Dead is Dead players.

Character: Hrothgar
Difficulty: Master
Current Level: 6
Status: Alive

Hrothgar is a Redguard thief who came to Skyrim in search of their famous mead. His first night in Skyrim he must have consumed lots of mead, because he woke up in the back of a wagon with some captured rebels. After being saved from execution by a dragon attack, he made his way into Riverwood. Hrothgar is a selfish drunk and the first thing he did was take all the blacksmith had to offer for free across the street to sell to the pretty boy at Riverwood Trader. Soon after he began hunting, fishing, and harvesting to make some coin. He soon cleared the emberstone mine, and picked up Sven as a partner in crime.

He had a particularly close encounter with death on an adventure today. He was scouting and harvesting along the lake to the West of Riverwood and encountered a thief. Of course he told the thief off and a battle ensued. Sven was nowhere to be found as he usually gets distracted by water or butterflies while Hrothgar is hunting. It was a hard fought battle and took some poisons and potions, but eventually was a success. On the way back to Riverwood to turn in for the night came the strangest encounter. Three weird looking elf women came down the road, and were bashing on males and declaring their superiority. Hrothgar was very angry but sober at the time and knew he couldn't survive a fight against all three of them. Then the woman engaged in conversation accused him of believing in Thalos, to which he quickly replied he can believe in whatever he wants. The woman took offense to this and called Hrothgar a 'heretic'. At this time she drew her weapon and he had no choice but to flee. After running down the road a bit, here comes Sven, running out of the trees after an afternoon of butterfly catching. Hrothgar looked at him with a look that said "where have you been idiot." Then turned around to find that only one woman had pursued him. A battle ensued and just when things had looked so grim throughout the day, Hrothgar finds himself with a shiny new set of Elven armor.

I will continue to update this until I must post a RIP.

Smokt has joined the Stormcloaks and advanced the cause of rebels. On his first advance into Whiterun he was pleased that his house had been spared from the fire, hopefully his Housecarl had survived the savagery and guarded his stockpile of dragon bones and scales. After forcing the Jarl to yield he returned to Ulfric who dispatched him to begin fostering the rebellion hroughout the realm. Smokt was beginning to have his doubts about Ulfric's true intentions and is becoming disaffected with Ulfrics bravado. Being that Smokt is actually an Imperial he is having thoughts of assassinating Ulfric and ending the rebellion. Certainly his loyalty to Ulfric in leading the chargeon Whiterun will give SMokt the perfect opportunity some day.

Until that day comes Smokt has decided to return to helping the Companions and destroying the witches that have cursed them. He is wary though since these witches yeild powerful magic. He has returned to the blacksmith, no longer on fire, and forged himself a new flawless axe and shield in preperation for the journey. Perhaps it makes sense to spend some of his new found wealth at the apothecary with potions for himself and his trusty companion or further upgrades to his blocking skills to defend against the Hargraves powerful magic. Yes, yes that does make sense!

1 question, can I copy background lore from another game for my Character? Or is it a must to come up with background story by myself?

Exactly. I can't emphasize the importance of this. It is the FIRST thing explained in the OP. I don't care for spoilers anymore than the next guy. That's why we are in this section. This thread has always been in the GDF, and it should stay that way. I like to think that it's contributors are mature and respectful enough, not only post the truth about a character, but also contain ANY detailed information within spoiler tags.

We can help one another, by PMing me or the the poster directly on any material that is not wrapped in tags and may be considered a "spoiler".

You can do anything you want. You don't have to create a backstory, nor post a story like update. (Although that is encouraged) Just jump in and enjoy your experience.

Welcome aboard and good luck.

So i have to tell the story of how i just almost died. I was exploring and ran into a dragon, since my character is pretty much full sneak perks, i knew i couldn't fight it, so i ran. Well it decided to follow me from the mountains, all the way back to whiterun. I ran, healing and doing everything possible to survive. As i came up on whiterun, i felt somewhat relieved because i knew i could count on the guards to help me, but it wasn't over yet. Upon attempting to cross the river i ran into a saber tooth, oh god. I ran and used my level 1 unrelenting force shout to keep it off me, while still using all of my magica potions to keep healing. I kept running until i finally got to whiterun, i then lockpicked my way into someones farm, hoping i would be safe, yet the sabertooth was waiting for me inside. So i ran back outside to find the dragon directly in front of me, with about half health left i ducked behind a windmill and was taking hits from the dragons fire breath AND the sabertooth. I paused with 30 points of health left, almost certain that this is where my character would meet his end. I remembered i went argonian for a reason, health regen. So i used a health regen potion, ate every bit of food i had left to get me back to a total of 45/210 health left, selected my health regen power and prayed i would survive. As i used my health regen i dropped to what looked like zero health, but with the 60% health regen and 10x health regen power, i was now regenerating at 600%, and nearly instantly was back at full health. The guards took down the sabertooth and i used the houses for cover and gradually took the dragon down with my bow. Most intense fight i've been in thus far on skyrim, my heart is still racing.

And THAT, my friend, is why I play DID. I got chills reading that! Normally, one gets excited when being in a tough situation, anyway. That rush is intensified 100 fold, playing DID.

It's a great thing to feel confident. Just don't let that cloud your judgement. Stay focused. :spotted owl:

Ok guys. The thread is getting close to being maxed out. I'll ask a mod to lock this one. The response is great. I'm glad to see a growing interest in this style of gamplay. Please continue in the "http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1277166-the-skyrim-dead-is-dead-thread-ii/". It will be up in a few minutes. :goodjob:
