Name: Shaddix Kriox
Race: Breton
Class: Thief/Assassin
Alignment: Neutral
Born: 4E 180
Age: 21
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Backstory: Shaddix was born and raised in Daggerfall, High Rock. He was always taught to have good morals and to be a good person by his parents. He was a good kid, stayed out of trouble most of the time and he is very brave. Growing up in one of the nastier parts of the city Shaddix felt overtime that being a good person with high morals was both a good and a bad thing. It limited him in what he wanted to do. He was getting sick and tired of being so poor that him and his family could barely afford to eat 3 or 4 times a week so he starting to steal the belongings of the more "privileged" group of people and the rich. He didn't always keep things for himself, he was quick and sold the merchandise he had just stolen as soon as the market and shops where open so the news hopefully wouldn't have spread so quickly to the shopkeepers yet. He would give back to all the poor people in the Daggerfall slums. He was starting to earn some pretty decent money until the guards started catching on to him. He then calmed down a bit and stop thieving as much. One of his best friends sisters were kidnapped one day by the Imperial Legions commanding officer for that province for his own "personal entertainment".
By this time Shaddix had become quite the rebel. He does what he feels he needs to do or is what is best for the situation he is in. Shaddix's friend had asked him to murder the Legions commanding officer, an assassination. At 21 Shaddix was very skeptical about this, he had never harmed anybody before, though he had trained himself well in the art of archery and sneaking, also using a dagger for close quarters self defense. Shaddix's friend offered him money as a reward for killing the Legion officer. He respectfully denied as he didn't kill people, only animals as a very good hunter/gatherer (archery training req). Then the Legion caught wind about Shaddix possibly being the thief stealing all the goods from the rich. They brutally interrogated his parents and younger brother (he has a younger brother that wasn't worth mentioning earlier) until they were beaten so badly that the both the his mother and brother died while his father watched hopelessly. The torturer went ahead a killed his father as well.
Shaddix had come home to the house full of blood and 3 dead bodies as well as an Imperial Legion sword left behind by one of the more incompetent soldiers. Shaddix was enraged by this! He marched off to his friend refused to take the reward and claimed it to be a "personal matter" now. He waited 'till night fall where he would sneak into the Legion officers sleeping quarters, killing him with a slice to the throat. After this Shaddix fled Daggerfall and eventually fled High Rock all together. His face was plastered everywhere for the legion. He decided he would move now move to Skyrim and start a new life. One full of thievery and murder.
Shortly after his arrival to Skyrim he runs into a small camp site in the middle of the night. He was planning on killing all of these people and using the camp sight for himself; however! The campsite was ambushed by the Imperial Legion under orders to capture everybody there. Shaddix was caught in the mist of this ambush and was captured by the people who was fleeing from the begin with. One of the Legion soldiers recognized Shaddix's face from a wanted poster he recently seen. Now Shaddix was in for it... Certain death.. Or was it?!
To be continued...
Edit: Name was changed.
RIP
Nero
Redguard
Male
Level 17
Fell to a Wispmother, her ice spikes shredding through his steel armor like cutting cloth.
Long story:
Spoiler
It was quite a day for him. Having become quite fond of the locals in Whiterun and purchasing a home there, Nero had just joined the Companions and offered to retrieve Nettlebane for Danica to help out the community by restoring the tree.
Well, as resilient as Nero was, his Housecarl Lydia was not so. He lost her there on Orphan Rock, though he survived and was able to retrieve Nettlebane. As a light snow began to fall, he took time after the battle to rest her body up against a large tree off to the side, away from the black magic and heresy of the rock itself. He then vowed to kill evil mages and wizards, having witnessed their dark arts time and time again.
It was actually really cool, having this epic battle with explosions all around him until he charged the Hagraven, and then realizing afterward that Lydia had died as the snow fell and it became peacefully quiet.
His next job with the Companions was to clear out some mages in Cragwallow Slope, so he made his way there, fending off yet another assassination attempt (second one). He passed through Ivarstead on his way around to Cragwallow. Feeling nostalgic, he took a small detour outside Ivarstead where he had taken down a dragon with Lydia. That's when it happened.
It was night and he saw a bright light racing around the hills. As he approached it, the Wispmother burst out from the craggy rocks and began her assault. Thrown in a rage at facing another mystical enemy, Nero dispatched the wisps around them easily enough until he could focus his efforts on the Wispmother. Her ice spike attacks took off a huge chunk of his health, about 1/3, but they were easy enough to dodge or avoid, using the terrain to his advantage. He also had a very large supply of health potions. He was also specced in Heavy Armor and had forged and improved his full set of steel armor to Flawless quality. So what went wrong?
Well, it goes to show that you really need to keep on your toes in DID. I got to a point where I was sniping her with a bow from a pile of rocks, crouching to draw and then popping up to fire, then quickly crouching again to avoid oncoming blasts of ice. She was just as content as me to keep the ranged game, but I took a fatal risk. With about 1/3 of health left, I risked another shot since I had already drawn before I would go back into cover and heal. Well, I wasn't able to dodge the next blast. He flew several yards back, dead before his body hit the ground.
I think I may have subconsciously taken a risk on purpose, since I was getting antsy to try a new build. Don't get me wrong, there is definitely lots of regret, but I know this is the only way I can play now because I loved all those other close calls, and really immersing myself in the shoes of the character. Now I have to think long and hard about what to try next.
As reluctant as Sonoura was about continuing with the Mage quests, I convinced her that the rewards would be worth it. She is very anxious to get out on her own and pursue the evil path that she was born do take. This does NOT include any DRAGON born path. She is more interested in finding a safe haven, away from annoying peasants, where she can hone her crafts and indulge the Dark Arts to terrorize the world.
She sets forth, on what seems to be the final leg of this ass kissing line of "Please help us poor Mages" events. Our destination is in an area that lies well into uncharted territory. I suggested that we take the exploration route, and travel by foot. She would have no part of that. So we decided to drop a few gold in the closest carriage, to take us to the nearest city, outside the Dungeon. The driver wanted 50. Sonoura flashed him some Breton boob, to soften the deal, but the driver way gay. Thus, not very impressed. So we paid the fair and off we went.
Upon arrival, I thought it would be a great time to check out the new town. That idea was shot down faster than a Kahjjit mating ritual.
SONOURA - Piss on that. Let's get this stupid Mage stuff over with, so I can achieve ultimate power. THEN we will browse the lands, to satisfy my lust for torment, torture and manipulation. MOOHAHAHAAA!
ME - Fine! I just wanted to check out the shops, in hopes of getting some better gear. BUT...You're the Evil Sorceress. Sooo, YOU know what's best. - * Flips Sonoura off, behind her back.*
SONOURA - I seen that, meat!
Off we go. Sonoura calls up the Dueling Banjos. ( God I love those guys! ) It wasn't long before we were confronted by a Frost Spider. I had Sonoura back up. We had not encountered one before. The DBs were on that spider like white on a cue ball, and yelling obscenities the whole time.
Just off the road, was an old abandon ruin. More like a hole in the ground. As we approached, the boys took notice and charged in. The Skeleton was taken out, before we could get there. I swear, those guys are the epitome of a Duel Wielding Perk, bar none. The place was very small, but large enough to hold a very interesting book on Necromancy and a useful Spell Tome. Sonoura was pleased.
We made it the rest of the way, virtually unopposed.
* spoiler containing enemy types *
Spoiler
That would end, as we were confronted by several Frost Trolls. I thought the boys would have their hands full but they made short work of those guys.
We briefly explored the area. Picking up mostly coin and important stuff. We left all the generic armor and weapons. I figured this place could hold a LOT of good stuff, and wanted Sonoura to go in light. She had no problem with that, as she doesn't like to carry a lot of stuff, and I don't like hearing the damn complaining.
We enter the dungeon. I don't want go into detail here. We took things very slow. She kept the DBs out in front, as much as possible. We came upon a major obstacle. It was a hallway that contained...
* Spoiler on trap *
Spoiler
those stones that were motion sensitive. In Oblivion, these things could one- shot a hardy character. There were 3 of these damn things. One fire, frost and shock. We studied this for about 20 min. After throwing a few summoned helpers down the hall, we realized that only one is active at a time. Sonoura placed two Cryo Bobs, in front of the first one
We counted to three and made a mad dash for the other end of the hall. Sonoura was fine, but I was screaming, like the guy that woke up next to, what he thought was, a WOMAN from the bar. This proved to be the most challenging part of the expedition, thus far.
We came into the area of the final Boss. We had been building a potential strategy, along they way here. Still we had no idea what to expect. I was very nervous, for the first few minutes. I don't want to give anything away here. So lets just say, Sonoura stripped down to her skivvies and gave a, very lucky, rock a lap dance. :twirl:
I know. I don't get it either. :facepalm:
We made it out, and Sonoura suffered zero damage. She completed the Magey crap, so at least i don't have to hear about that any more. I have no Idea what is in store now. She is still level 26. She wants to get Master, in Illusion and Alteration. There are some very interesting spells available, but she needs a TON of gold for them. Looks like some exploration for money. Hell, who knows?
I am starting a YouTube channel where right now I am playing a DiD character called Elisha. I'll upload videos with commentary from her arrival in Skyrim till the moment she leaves us. Constructive critisism and ideas on how to increase the chances of survival are always welcome! :foodndrink:
Here's the link for anyone interested:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TumMkK0BFPY&feature=channel_video_title
Will be updated very regularly (uploading the second part as we speak.)
Ivreath orethi
Dunmer
Spellsword
Backstory (I'll keep it short this time)
Born of wealthy background in the imperial city of cyrodill, ivreath hated his parents and always been told what to do, he loved the riches that his life brought but was never allowed to do what he wanted and this led to lots of fights and fallouts. He often started fights with other kids. One day he feels particularly lucky and pulled a dagger on a kahjiit a few years older than himself, without even flinching the kahjiit just released his claws and slashed his face. Ivreath feeling humiliated with three deep cuts from his eye to his chin, he casts a summon spell and summons a zombie, the terrified kahjiit flees the scene.
When he gets home his parents are waiting, and not been able to stand being told off he turns round straight back out the door, telling them he's leaving to join the mages guild and the arcane university.
After a short few weeks he gets expelled for summoning a zombie on the university grounds.
He moves back with his parents for a few years hating every minute of it, his parents now will not let him practice magic in the house too.
After he saved enough money he decides to leave "this horrible place."
He takes his leave and heads for cheydinhall, on the way he encountered bandits and beasts, but manages to get by using his fathers shortsword that he stole and some destruction magic.
Still not happy after a few years of living in cheydinhall he decides to head to skyrim and seek his fortune, he's also heard of a college that commend the use of conjuring beasts. On the way to skyrim he gets surrounded by the imperial legion, and captured.
Aaah yes the no death ruleset. My favorite. Dead is dead.
I actually do a livestream of no death playthroughs for worthy games. I've done it for Mass Effect, Dragon Age & Witcher series. Skyrim is the first elder scrolls game I've played and I'm attempting a no death ruleset for it on adept difficulty.
The thing I love about playing no death is that it forces you to understand the game in it's entirety and ensures that you're always prepared for any scenario. It really changes the way you game completely. Once you experience the ending of a game in a no death ruleset, you become addicted to this style of game play.
If any of you guys would like to come watch us attempt this live you can check us out at:
http://www.justin.tv/luzarius
I encourage backseat gaming, so everyone can be part of this exciting play through.
Tips:
1. Don't room rush.
2. High ground is your friend
3. Choke points are your friend
4. Send in the companion first
5. Balanced characters with high con
6. Go slow, go slowly, play as slowly as you can
7. Get inspired by the lore, read the codex, books, listen to the dialogue. Being emotionally driven will ensure you don't die.
8. Potions, potions. Make 20-30 healing potions. You should always have 20-30 healing potions ready to go. In Dragon Age origins I had over 800 various healing potions (lesser, normal, greater, potent, etc)
9. Stealth, invisibility, anything to break sight.
10. Flank, check for back doors.
11. Don't chase enemies, no matter what!
12. Check for traps always.
13. Always ask yourself, if I go into this room where could I exit to?
14. Before entering a room check for high ground or 2nd levels. The stairs can often be used as a choke point (just don't get sandwiched)
15. If all of a sudden a unique item appears in a room that you normally don't see. Ask yourself why it's there? It may be an indication of a tough mob you're about to fight.
16. Always have a ranged and melee solution.
17. When the game auto saves it's an indication of things to come.
18. Spider webs, hmm what does that mean?
19. Persuasion, talk your way out of as many fights as you can. Minimize the risk. Be diplomatic, think!
20. Show the enemy no mercy, be as cheap as possible without exploiting.
21. Resistances are your friend.
22. Go slow, go slow, go slow.
23. If possible let the enemy come to you.
Ivreath story so far
(really brief)
Escaped from helgen after a dragon attacks, helped along by a imperial soldier.
Heads to riverwood, meets an elf named faendal, takes him with him just to carry his blunder. Recovers a dragon claw for a shopkeeper. After finding some strange writing on a wall in a dungeon.
Head to whiterun, meet the jarl, the jarl asks for ivreath's help with a small problem... A dragon.
Well turns out ivreath's a dragonborn, who would of thought?
Deciding he doesn't like his destiny, he puts it off and travels to winterhold to pursue his skills in magic, perhaps he'll visit these grey beard chaps later.
I am doing a DIRD character. Level 21 now and so far, so good. It is all the more intense since my character uses only light armor, steel weaponry and no enchanted equipment or magic.
What is DI *R* D? you may ask? Dead Is Really Dead. When my character dies, that is it. No more Skyrim. I will bring my game to the shop and sell it back.
I believe the only ruling is "dead is dead" and you stick to it. No matter how much you attach to your character, if he/she dies thats it. I play on adept and no fast travel. I won't be taking any unneccessary risks and always travel with enough health and stamina potions to increase chances of survival.
Oh and its fun, yesterday I barely managed alive from a bandit ambush I ran into while chasing a deer and the adrenalin rush was amazing. As someone said here, this game feels like it was meant to be played this way.
I don't really have the time to write some nice rp conform text about my adventures, since I am in China right now and most of my spare time I am learning the language :). So I will stick to a short summary once in a while:
Fleeing from Gelden was easy. I followed this rebellion guy to a small dirty village called Riverwood (at least I think that was the name). A woman asked me to send the arl in Whiterun a message. Since I need the money I did it. On my way I was a bit inattentive and almost died to some bandit scum. Needed to drink half of my red Lifesavers to get rid of them...but I found some nice equipment. I heard rumors about a boy who wants to contact the dark brotherhood. The lead brought me to Windhelm, a racist city if there ever was one. I found the boy and just told him what he wanted to hear. He is just a child, but seems to have some coin. Since people around here don’t exactly like strangers I went of to Riften right away to kill this old hag the boy wanted to see dead. She was no match for me.
In Riften I also found some thieves guild. The live in the sewers and got some lousy tavern there but there seem to be a bunch of nice guys. I think here I can start some serious business again. Lucky me. First of all I had to get some protection money from the shop keepers around. Good thing I can be pretty convincing. Next job seems to be a bit more difficult. I will have to prepare myself well before going for it.
In the meantime I have to train. The time travelling and being a prisoner really let my skills get some dust. To get warm I wanted to get the bounty this guy in Whiterun set for the head of a bandit leader. It was all nice and fun until I met this bandit leader. Orcs are really a different bunch here than where I come from. I had to make a run. I just arrived in the city and got me some ale in the first inn I saw when a Dunmer woman talked to me. She was a mercenary. I will see, how long she is of any use to me but together we could kill this damn orc and get the bounty. Now I really need a rest…
That is an interesting spin you guys have on DID. It's just a little too forgiving for me. If a character falls from a one-shot that's just too damn bad. I should have been better prepared. If I was to continue with that character, I would feel too dirty. Like I was using an exploit. If my character falls off of a cliff, that's a one-shot right there. svcks to be me, for not being more careful. My current character is a pure mage, and like other pure mages, they can easily die from a one-shot, at any time. That's just part of it. Anything less, depletes the excitement factor, which is the whole point. It's not really about completing a game, although that is highly respected. It's more about the element of excitement it adds to the general gameplay.
Also, having people throwing up caution flags, in my ear, kind of defeats the whole purpose. That would completely negate the element of surprise, from running a new game, totally blind. I'm sorry, but it's just not the same. Words can't explain the hart pounding sensation I feel, creeping around in these Dungeons. I am totally focused and enveloped in the game. I have a lump in my throat the size of a graqefruit and my adrenalin is on overflow. Knowing that one wrong move could be the last. NOT knowing who, what or how many, may be around that corner or through that door. If I had someone chatting it up in my ear, it would completely destroy the effect.
Still, I wish you the best of luck.
Here we go: Dead is Dead (Expert difficulty)
I'm Arctus Valaai, dunmer nightblade. Before you start asking me about the best cornerclub in Balmora to nurse a flagon of greef, I'd better explain that I've never had the pleasure of seeing Morrowind - the lizard men can have it as far as I'm concerned. My father and mother made it into Skyrim after the eruption of Red Mountain, and struck up a small bookselling business in Windhelm. The Nords were as chilly as a Solstheim winter but I had a decent kind of childhood all the same. The war changed all that, and the men who came back had no love for elves. I was young, gifted with a little magic, and wanted nothing more than to climb out of my father's little realm of literary oblivion and explore Tamriel proper. My parents had lived to see the twilight days of the united empire, and the world I found was fragmented and broken, scorched by the zealot war machine of the Aldmeri Dominion. Young, foolish and idealistic, I got myself involved in the Hammerfell Resistance. Long story short, the Thalmor fingered me for a troublemaker and I made a run for it. I knew if I could make it across the Skyrim border, I could get lost in those jagged cliffs and snowy wastelands. How far would the Aldmeri go for one idiot dunmer? Didn't even see the Mede's chopping block coming.
After escaping Helgen, My first thought was to get back home to Windhelm, but the resistance here is in full swing, and I'm not sure which side of the war I'm on. Skyrim is my home as much as a Nord's, and I don't intend to let it fall into Thalmor hands. These dragons need to be dealt with too - I promised a friend I'd warn Whiterun about them, and after that I'm going to pay a long delayed visit to the College of Winterhold. I'm not sure if the Arch-mage remembers my father and his regular deliveries to the Arcaenium library, but I need more than sparks in my hands the next time an executioner puts my head to the block.
Let the games begin
