Things that you can't suspend your disbelief over?

not being recognized for slaying the boss of the main quest by anyone

Or having anyone acknowledge The fact that I went to sovngarde as a living person. stuff like that should make people stand in awe of my abilities.
Or when you become the leader of the companions, the guards still say things like “Oh you are the new member of the companions. What do you do fetch the mead?”

that kind of crap removes the suspension for me.

You do get some praise from city guards after competing the MQ.

And not many people would know about your

The generally poor, monotonous animation, and the obnoxiously long NPC greetings really take me out of the moment most.

For all the problems RAGE had, the one thing that no one can take away from it is that it had some of the best animation/AI of any game, well, ever, and those two things really added to the experience.

Honestly? There's nothing that I can't suspend my disbelief over. It's a game. It's a software system with all the limitations associated with the time -> cost -> quality triangle.

Sure, there are things that annoy me- inappropriate dialog being among the worst ("So, you're Brynjolf's new protoge, eh? Don't look like much to me" Except that I'm the ****ing Guild MASTER, you twit!). Absolutely, there are things that I wish were done differently. But there is absolutely nothing that I can't overlook in order to enjoy the game.

Not being able able to "suspend your disbelief" means that it's something that is so bad you just can't enjoy the game because of it. So again, there is nothing in the game that has that particular effect on me.
No, not being able to suspend your disbelief doesn't mean you can't in enjoy the game.

For example, I love that B-Grade Dungeons and Dragons film with Jeromy Irons, but there is no way I can believe it unlike Lord of the RIngs (or for video games, Mario and Morrowind)

The generally poor, monotonous animation,
To be fair, Skyrim is the best TES title yet in terms of animations

That ebony armor and weapons aren't made of some tropical hardwood. Why would somebody think ebony is a metal? Also, where's the ivory? We've got at least two types of tusks, but no ivory?

Change ebony to a wood you gather with an axe. I reckon we can go with an implied ivory by using the tusks in a recipe. The result? We'll be able to make pianos and accordions at the forge!

That is very true, but they still have a long way to go.

It's actually stranger than than. Ebony isn't metal. It's blood. A god's blood.

And yeah, I've been waiting for someone to mod in Ivory weapons, just because of the dual wielding potential. *bad-dum-tshh*

Materials in TES have a history of not being the same as their real world counterpart.

Ebony in TES is a metal, you mine it, it's incredibly powerful and expensive. It can get annoying but for the most part that's just how it's always been with TES.

I can't belive how many people bashed this topic because "is just a game". Yes, and this is just a forum about a game so play along or find better things to do.
For me: becoming head of all guilds joined trough a linear progress once you joined.
Things like dialogues and unlimited containers too of course but I personaly see those like game technology limitations and issues they could rise if done otherwise. The one I mention I can find no such excuses for.

The lack of believable number of NPCs in what were intended to be quite epic battles in the Civil War campaign.

-The horrible NPC's.

Basically in order to succesfully roleplay I have to avoid settlements.

'Do you go to the cloud district very often, what am I saying..'
'I work with my mother at the vegetable stall, its hard work..'
'I dont claim to be the best blacksmith in Skyrim..'

Argh shutup-shutup-shutup!

Personally, I was impressed with the amount of people involved in the battles this time around. Unlike Oblivion's "Battle of Bruma" with something like 3 city guards and a handful of daedra, IIRC.

EDITED:

Oh, looks like I was wrong. Just watched a video of the battle on the Tube. You actually had 12 soldiers plus some other NPCs. That's about the same number you get in the Skyrim CW battles. Something to do with engine limitations, I guess.

For me, it's that stuff shows up in shops faster than I could expect an army of foragers and fashoners to get them there, yet none of these people are visible in the game. The faux-economy strains my belief that these items aren't simply magically appearing in the shops.

The battles were of an impressive scope, but they didn't take advantage of some impressive character backstories, Legate Rikke, Galmar, Ulfrics civilian advisor, it's like they started but didn't finish.

I guess I was expecting something of the scope of the Dynasty Warriors series.

i think my GF has it, the stuff she pulls out of her bag sometimes is mind-boggling, women have this talent with bags they just like...dont end.

Glass is supposedly a raw form of ebony. Though it's difficult to tell anymore with this Malachite [censored]. But, I suppose it makes a pretty big splash when a god's heart hits the ground, and Skyrim is pretty near to (the now-ex) Vvardenfell geographically. So it doesn't seem that weird that you can find at least ebony in Skyrim.

Half the popluation of Skyrim being immortal kind of ruins it for me. How am I supposed to clear out those camps when all the commanders are immortal?

The Vigliants of Stendarr can't recognise a vampire and a priestess of Azura running around their little hall.

I marvel about how seemingly poverty stricken Nords go "Thank you for carrying this thing 50 meters to the other guy I can actually see standing over there. Here's 400 gold."

The skin-exposing armour. Sure, I can accept the Nords ahve some magical frost-resistance, but most of the other races don't. Hell, I'm Canadian and while I do fine in winter, I still keep exposed skin to a minimum.
