Three most simple easy changes that would improve the game f

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 3:16 pm

By simple / easy I mean things that wouldn't be hard for Bethesda or modders to change or add, that don't involve dramatically overhauling the game. "Fix the combat" or "revamp the magic system" would be examples of not simple / easy. "Make potions heal over time so they're not spam-able" would be an example of a simple / easy change(and is my #1 simple / easy change that'd improve the game for me).

better pathing for followers, maybe a shout that instantly teleports any follower currently in your company to your side, also a way to force equip stuff on a follower with the default UI, I have noticed that even using the console equipitem command followers will sometimes take off stuff I gave them or sometimes it just won't work at all. followers in general are my only gripe with this game, I gave up on them and rely exclusively on conjured help.

I believe that one is in a larger mod.....can't remember the name.

For me: Change to dialog options in only guard behavior to topics simliar to Daggerfall, where you could say one subject,
and it would trigger via a simple script another dialogue choice (unvoiced) just on general lore.....
And change it so it's different in every city.
(For a modder, this wouldn't be that difficult, as I have changed dialogue options in Morrowind, and Oblivion before).....
Just simple subjects such as you can type in a search box: Dunmer / and the guard would come up with 3 different choices for you to make
based on that one word subject......and if you typed something he doesn't "recognize" , he simply says, "bite me", hehe......seriously, "I'm not sure what you mean"......

I have a feeling this might get moved to the modding forum.......but it's a borderline topic i think.

Three things ain't enough.

Best thing they can do is fix ALL the bugs, doing anything else right now is asinine.

-A map that shows roads.
-A questlog you can sort yourself (i.e. a folder for quests you don't want to do [yet])
-More comprehensible flight paths for arrows (i have no idea where i'm shooting most of the time)

oh thats for sure hahahaha, specially the "map roads" part, I mean, most of the time when I try to get to somewhere without 'fast travel' option I get stucked in the middle of nowhere 'coz my char just don't know how to climb or walk up some stones.

It would also be nice if there were a bigger combination of skills and specially in combat. Improve some movements, skills and combos would be nice!

Oh, and I almost forgot: PLEASE, I mean, PLEASE, let the NPC up levels too! No matter who I take with my on my trips, once the game level increases they all die with hit kills, it's so lamy -.- Specially Vilkas, that guy is up to no good! I crafted him a full daedric set and for what? To die in a melee combat against some random mobs... huk

I just take him with my to carry my stuffs all the way back until I manage to sell them on some random NPC, otherwise it's simply impossible to carry it by myself =/

#1: Give monsters armor ratings above zero, and give enemy NPCs better perks and reasonable skill levels. A level 40 bandit chief should have more than a 25 in heavy armor. :P

#2: Lower Destruction magicka costs and scale the impact perk WAAAY down to where it does not cause stunlocking. 1/3 of caster destro skill sounds about right. Scale up destro damage (modestly) to prevent the "paralyzing pea-shooter" effect of what should be the most dangerous magic skill in the game.

#3: Repair melee/archery damage calculation to not have so many multiply signs in it, and convert/reveal armor ratings to display the damage mitigation as a % rather than an abstract number.

Just a few off the top of my head. I plan on modding in some legacy-style spells like levitation and featherfalling, and will probably mess around with reinstating Mark and Recall through scripting effects. Need to put a map marker up on the world map! :)

I would really like the UI to have sortable items. Also little icons for stolen, enchanted, poisioned...

I would also love to have item sorted and divided that are containers. After you hit a certain point there just seems to be no sorting done with them.

I know these are fixed with mods, but something like that should be in the vanilla game.

I want 8 hotkeys on Xbox 360 again. I hate the new system and my hatred of it grows with each playthrough. I miss the system from Fallout 3/NV/Oblivion.

8 Hotkeys >>> 1

If I just had one wish to make the game more fun for me and it had to be a simple fix (not massive overhauling etc. as the OP asked) it would be this. With 8 hotkeys I could play my mage again and just choose 8 spells and have so much more fun. I stopped playing my mage because I cannot stand pausing every 1/2 - 2 seconds. I replayed fallout 3 recently and that was one of 2 pure gameplay/mechanics features that stood out as vastly superior.

1.) Armor and Weapon base values can now have greater versions that can be found in the world. This means, itemization progression will never cap out.
2.) NPCs ALWAYS scale and never are completely out leveled.
3.) Difficulty options added to give user control over difficulty, including setting NPC level scaling offset, encounter frequency, elite spawns option, and encounter population option.

Fix mouse click/scroll issues
Remove the upper level cap on NPC's
Get companions to back the [censored] up another 10 feet or so, I want them close not inside me.

Also add a glue factory so I can do something useful with the horses.

1) Tie the chance of finding treasure to the difficulty setting

2) Bring back weapon and armor durability

3) Make items more expensive in shops to balance the economy

3) Revamp the journal system and allow the player to make their own entries in a blank book

Melee :

A whole set of paths for the different weapons in each Skill tree, not just an arbitrary couple of perks for damage augment.

Magic :

Same thing as above.

Companions :

More functionality... ie : Defend the area, pickpocket or steal mobile/object, Patrol a path, give them the bandit ability to dodge arrows.

The issue I am having is the same prob I had in Oblivion and Fallout: My gear is maxing out half way through the game and I have tons of cash with nothing to spend it on. Also hitting the same challenges over and over; i.e. killing the same monsters. It would be great if the first add-on got rid of the growth-ceiling. That is, I want to finish the game just after I max out, or maybe even just before.

How about first person view on horses..... Ability to give commands from horse so i dont have to get off every second to pick something.... and ability to use BOW on horse

I rarely ride the horses in the game because of the third-person view thing..... even though I really like the third person view in this game( when im shooting fireballs it reminds me of DBZ)

But i say First Person View on Horses FTW

Get rid of the freezing and restarts on the PS3.
Stabilize the frame rate to around 30 fps on consoles.
Make the main quest and all secondary quests completable.

When/if those are accomplished...

Combat from horseback, via horse attack and/or weapon.
Create a barber to change hairstyle and facial hair.
Fine tuned cursor sensitivity for combat and aim, separate from the general camera sensitivity, like with a shift/hold state.

Speaking of hotkeys, one the things still yet to be fixed that really bugs me sometimes is not being able to bind a set of weapons or spells to one key. They've got this whole dual wield system they hyped, but they gave us an incredibly clunky method of using it with their default controls.

Three things for me to improve the game massively;

1.) Enemies scale all the way up to level 81
2.) And increased spawning numbers difficulty option
3.) A hardcoe esq mode

Respec at the end of the tutorial
change the respawn rate for dungeons from 30 days to 15 days
Instead of having standard +5 and +10's at the beginning allow the player to choose which 5 skills get a +5 and one skill that gets a +10.

Remove "quest items". I hate things being stuck in my inventory for all of eternity. If you sell it, boo hoo.

Have destruction scale.

Have cooking buffed.

A mix of specific and vague descriptions for all quests (including misc.) and the option to turn off your map updating/quest markers.

Difficulty measured in AI improvements/damage increase, not health inflation.

All NPCs killable, with the game telling you when you failed a quest due to murdering one (non-misc only) or the Morrowind "Doomed World" message for one vital to the main quest.
