CK Trailer Discussion #2

That new dialogue tool looks a lot more user friendly than the way it was implemented in the Construction Kit. I remember not realizing that even simple dialogue was handled more like a quest. It appears that they have given a bit more control over it, judging by the way he manually constructed the arrows to point to the next box.

In Layman's Terms? =P

Spell says: "BOOM! I exploded you!"
Target says: "Oh no I have been exploded!"

or something like that... XD

Is this just basically away to create new effect animations to go along with new spells?

animations and effects. Like say you cast a spell on someone and it triggers their AI to have them go jump off a cliff (not sure if that specifically is possible in the AI... hope it is :D)

Not likely.

And if it's not up tomorrow, it'll probably shift to next week.

Every day that passes without the CK my utter disdain for Steam Workshop grows and grows...

Every day that passes without the CK my utter disdain for Steam Workshop grows and grows...

Well given that I compared steam workshop to the 'workshop' used for Civ V a month or so ago, and watching the video... They're remarkably similar... some new features (like the webpage/subscribe aspect) but looks like it'll work pretty much like the Civ V one did/does... That said, we'll see when it's out, but my 2 thoughts on it right now (going under my assumption here)...

1. The integration aspect of downloading/installing mods should not have taken that long to implement... Certainly shouldn't have been that difficult for experienced programmers to complete... so I doubt that was the reason for the delay.

2. Complex mods... it'll probably be no more complex than last one loaded wins... Civ V was no where near the complexity Skyrim is, but it had loads of trouble at first with it's 'workshop' version... then they simply made it last one loads wins (which caused no end of grief on it's own that way *rolls eyes*)...

I hope I'm wrong, and it's more robust and capable than the integration with Civ V... but I'm not counting on it, and not sure I entirely care. *shrug* I suppose if it's done better than 'meh' I'll consider using it.

CK by EoB Friday Please! I has quest work to do! :D

I hope they aren't implementing it like valve did with gary's mod's toybox, because you had to download it every time the game started, unless you installed manually.

Valve doesn't develop Garry's Mod, Garry Newman does. Then again, I know next to nothing about gmod so I'm probably talking out of my nook :spotted owl:

It's also been evidenced that Garry seems like a mighty fine chap in interviews but comes off as a major douchenozzle when people ask for support or features on the forums.

Or a dragon that breathes cabbages instead of fire? That could be fun as hell. XD

There is some talk about new features that weren't in Fallout's CK, so maybe new features appeared even after skyrim was complete and in order to allow for better mods they are adding it - so the modders will try out new buggy innovations, and maybe even invent better scripts for AI, since animations and models are as good as they can be right now (technology wise).

Hmm, I wonder how easy it will be to change the frequency of ambient NPC pvssyr?

Some I'd like to decrease in frequency, like the spectral assassin >.> And ever since 1.3 NPC pvssyr in some places is non-existent, and 1,4 hasn't fixed it so I wonder if I could force a frequency change with a mod...

I didn't like the looks of the installation method for the Steam Workshop acquired mods at all. Is it just jamming them in there with no regards for load order and no chance to confirm file overwrites? Not to mention having to use the built-in Skyrim launcher (which I usually eschew via SKSE launcher) which has a bad habit of reverting .ini changes.

From what I saw it looks too hamfisted for my tastes. Maybe there will be an option to manually download the files, I sure hope there is.

You won't need to use the Workshop, so don't worry about using it then. No need to worry about something like this if you won't want to use it :P
