Unofficial "Is [insert game here] any good?"

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:23 am

This is a bit of a broad question, but having just bought myself a Nintendo Wii last night, I was wondering what are some good Wii/Gamecube games that I should be grabbing? I'm fairly open to near any genre, so I was hoping to hear a few good suggestions some people might have.

I currently only having the Wii version of Twilight Princess.

Grab the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and relive some memories.

For the Wii get Mario Galaxy, the new Super Mario,Mario Kart(best game ever!),Okami..best ones i see looking at the Wii side of my case.

Also some games like Smash Brothers,Mario Baseball, ect. can be fun if you're into that kinda game.

I'd download some of the NES/SNES games like Mario 3,Donkey Kong Country, the N64 Legend of Zelda games...

Resident Evil 4 is pretty good if you haven't played it on any other platforms. And from what I've seen of all platforms it's on it works best on the Wii.

Does that work on the Wii?

edit: After some googling, it was rereleased on the Wii? :o

How do you buy it exactly? You need to buy points or something?

You can get Wii points by either using a credit card, or a 2000 point card at gamestop(which I prefer) then you can buy it using the points.

No Gamestop here, but I'm sure other stores will sell them...

Looks like it also requires the classic controller so I'll have to find that one too. But it's worth it. :D

On PC it's excellent, not sure about console versions. I didn't like it as much as KOTOR (I'm a huge Star Wars nerd), but it's not too far off.

YES! A love Titan Quest! Make sure you also get the fan patch (the new versions work on the Steam version of TQ). It's a great hack-n-slash with mythological creatures and historically accurate arms and armor from all over Greece, Egypt, Babylon, and the Silk Road. In the expansion, you get to go into Hades, which isn't quite as dreary as you'd think. It's also a fun game to play co-op/multiplayer, too. I also use the user-made programs TQ Vault and TQ Defiler (the former to store and sometimes edit my loot, the latter to fix any mistakes I made leveling my character).

Character leveling involves a skill tree, and you get to take at most two classes (called Masteries) to spread your skill points. Each mastery has so many skills - more than you'll have points to max out each and every one - so you can play the same Mastery in two completely different ways -- nevermind the added variation when you do more than one class. Also, archery isn't nerfed! :woot:

EDIT: I still have a screenshot I took of one of my character's skills: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Random/TQ_dream_mastery.jpg. Taking a second Mastery is really important, as I later learned. I had to scrap this character and do a bit of a re-do (via the TQ Defiler) to spread my skill points into the Earth Mastery.

You can download the fan patch now. I think the order of patching is the typical sort: apply all applicable official patches (you can do this via the in-game menu for TQ and Immortal Throne; by the way, play from the Immortal Throne.exe, since it adds some special stuff to the main TQ campaign). Then apply the fan patch (make sure it is the latest patch, and you get one that says it is for Steam. I downloaded mine from the fan TQ forums).

You can also buy TQ gold for $20 in a retail version, and you'll get the soundtrack disc!

I'm pretty sure http://www.titanquest.net/forums/bugfix-fanpatch/30510-rel-bugfix-patch-1-17-a.html is the latest fan patch, and it works on digital (Steam) versions.

You can google for the Titan Quest Vault and the Titan Quest defiler. The Vault also comes with a few mods you can select to use to make gameplay more streamlined: potion stacking, toggling dropped items' names (in the game, to display the name of dropped items, you have to press and hold a key; this mod makes it so that you simply have to press the key once. It is very, very easy to overlook dropped items, so displaying their name is pretty essential), and increasing the chances of finding a rare item (I increase it to maximize the fun and minimize loot farming and grinding).

Downloading now, do I have to do anything special, like extract it or something?

Instruction on the forum page indicate that it will be an .exe. The install and uninstall executables, as well as the readme, are zipped in a .zip archive. Simply extract the install.exe whereever you want and then run it. Once you finish running it, you can delete it. You should probably hang on to the .zip archive with the uninstaller, in case you need to get rid of it for some unforeseen reason.

One thing to note: when playing multiplayer, the person you want to play with must also have the fan patch, lest there be a few errors. No reason not to get the fan patch, though, as it does fix quite a few left-over bugs!

I don't know. It's possible it might not include those things; the Steam version of Morrowind doesn't include the CS disc materials.

How is Operatio flashpoint dragon rising, after playin MW2 I am sick of campers, noob tubers and other annoying thigs, I was thinking about this as it involves tactics not running around with a grenade launcher ready, reviews say good but people re saying its terrible.
