Could anyone tell me if 'bioshock' is any good.

The experience I had with Bioshock was rather peculiar. The first time I thought it was awesome. The graphics were good, the weapons were cool, enemies were fun to shoot at, and the various plasmids were fun to use. Storyline was ok, and the setting was amazing. A few months later I decided to play it again, and I felt that the gameplay was extremely stale, the hand holding was ridiculous (if you don't go where you're supposed to within a certain time, an arrow pops up and points you in the right direction - which was something that I didn't think about the first time), and almost the entire gameplay felt centered and balanced around the vitachambers, which revives you every time you die, with no penalty. The hacking minigame was also rather stupid, as it apparently made time stop. I still like the setting, though, but I think that both of the old System Shock games are better.

I think it's a game that everyone should play at least once.

Is the PC version of "Gears of War" any good? I'll see if I can acquire a used copy, as the production of it has been on hold for a long time (since february '09 I've heard)..

There's a patch, you can disable Vita Chambers. Also, I think the 'quest arrow' can be disabled in the options menu.

It basically exists only for achievements. I've heard you can go through the game firing only one bullet. Nothing to it really.

Indeed. When I played through the game I just reloaded every time I died instead of using vita chambers (obviously before the patch allowing them to be disabled) because I didn't like them and found they made things a bit too easy. I don't see it as a major flaw as you can choose not to use them if you don't want to.

4)Crysis

Crysis is a very solid shooter with some nice features on top of the incredible visuals. It plays really well and the suit modes and on the fly weapon customisation options allow you to approach situations in a lot of different ways. If you have a PC that can handle it (it's pretty scalable anyway) and you like a good FPS I'd recommend it.

2)Disgaea:AOD

I haven't played the third, but Disgaea 1 and 2 are easily some of my favorite strategy RPG's, with well over 500 hours invested into each.

Hm, well that helps. A bit. I still feel that the overall gameplay feels poorly executed. The basic shooting mechanic feels unsatisfying and at times the aiming feels strange, and the slicers seem to take too many shots. Then there's the wrench. Some fights are more like whack-a-slicer than anything else. It's just stale and dry, with nothing going for it, despite the plasmids. What exactly it was the captivated me the first time, I just can't remember.

I like the different methods you can use to take down splicers. I love the accuracy of the pistol, but it doesn't pack a lot of punch. Antipersonel rounds help take down regular Splicers pretty well. The machine gun fires lots of bullets, but eats through ammo fast and the accuracy isn't that great over really long distances. Shotgun packs a helluva punch, but only at close range. Chemical thrower is silly, grenade launcher usually hurt me more than helped, and the crossbow was fun. Then you add in the plasmids. I ice the Houdinis and blast 'em with the pistol; spider splicers get a shotgun-full of lead, and lead splicers get electrobolted and shot with my pistol. Or I unleash the bees. :D I rarely used the wrench at all and had little need for the wrench-upgrading plasmids. My faaaavorite plasmid was the chameleon plasmid. I love the camera and taking pictures.

In the new game, you not only get a camera, you get a video camera! I like earning extra plasmids from diligent research - even if that means I take a few bruises from a Rosie.

Anyone ever play "Chronicles of the Sword" on the PS1? Is it any good?

Anyone know if X3 and X3: Reunion are any good?

I've played space sims before by the way. If it's anything like X-wing Alliance then I'll probably really like it a lot.

There is a demo available, check it out if you can. Fromwhat I played, everything about it, from its controls, graphics, art direction, gameplay, and overall style, is a shameless ripoff of God of War; they didn't even try to differentiate in some way.

Is there any difference between the original Witcher and the Enhanced Edition? Well, no, let me rephrase that. I know there are differences - improved gameplay, etc. But, is that stuff that comes in the patches/free downloads for the game?

EDIT: Oh, and what DRM does it use? It's published by Atari, did they use that hideous TAGES protection?
