Psychonauts is great, a solid platformer with excellent humor/atmosphere. It's certainly better than a lot of games that get away with charging full price these days, so there's nothing to complain about for $2. Granted, I have the PS2 version and have no idea how the PC port fares, but...$2. Unless it were unplayable I don't see how it wouldn't be worth it.

PC version works great.

One of the best platformer games I've ever played. As with everything it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn fun.

While not a bad game (and indeed probably better than many others that come out), the whole experience to me felt like a whole lot of missed potential. Lots of backstory that's never relevant to the game, planets to visit with nothing on them, item customization room with few actual items to choose from or reasons to swap them out, plot that's good but seems rushed. Most people seem to like it though, and none of those factors are really disastrous; I can't give it a Best Game Ever stamp but there isn't any clear "it's bad because ___" target either. Overall it's a pretty standard Bioware game, with elements that can be compared to past ones like Jade Empire, KotOR, Neverwinter Nights, etc. If you're familiar with the company you probably already know your own position on the fence of "good elements stretched thin."

PC version performs better. I've played both versions, and the loading time on the PC version is fifty bazillion times faster than the PS2 version. Just use your gamepad if you don't like WASD. I had no trouble installing it on 64-bit OS either. From the size of the PS2 save game, I feel like the game wasn't optimized fully for the PS2. Other than the long loading times, and maybe some stuttering in places, I doubt there's much appreciable difference (I haven't played too much of it on the PC yet).

It's a fantastic game, certainly worth more than $2.00.

Well, I decided that $2.00 is just too rich for my blood...

Just kidding, I bought it. It's downloading now, thanks for the opinions guys.

I had some problems with it, but it's definitely worth playing. Mass Effect 2 is a masterpiece, and you'll want to have played through the first one before you play the sequel, for sure.

Any good mech games? I was disappointed when I couldn't find gungriffon blaze or any of the gundam games for the ps2. The series doesn't have to be any of those I just stated.

Not really, you can live without it but it sure helps.

Try Front Mission 3 for PSX which will work on PS2.
There is MS Saga: A New Dawn which is a Gundam RPG for the PS2 :P
Armored Core series also on PS2.

I haven't played Fatal Frame 2 but from what I've seen it's a very different type of game.

Your character in CoC gets scared. He's not a hero. Monsters don't exist in the real world. If he sees horrific things he loses sanity, which does scary things to your screen (seeing things double, blur, etc.) and reduces your character's efficiency. If you lose too much sanity your character can go insane and shoot himself.

There is no HUD, you can see your health more or less in your http://www.tap-repeatedly.com/Reviews/Call_of_Cthulhu/coc_xboxscrn_11.jpg (top right, the line becomes flatter the more blood you lose). And if you're hurt you can hear that while playing (faster heart beat, screen losing colour). It's really immersive.

Overall the gameplay is quite stealth orientated. Your character is a detective, not a soldier. Ammo is limited and healing takes time. Healing in combat is not safe. Just running everywhere and shooting everything that moves is generally a bad idea.

It's a great game. If you have a choice, I'd recommend getting the Xbox version instead of the PC version.

I'd argue on that, yeah you could live without it, but after completing the game without importing a character and then doing it with a character from ME1, there is such a difference. I really recommend playing the first one to get the story as intended anyway.

What are the differences between the versions?

EDIT:

Eh, nope. The one that was developed by Headfirst and released by Bethesda had the subtitle Dark Corners of the Earth. There's also Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice.

Good mech games?
MW2, MW3 and MW4 are great, and MW4 with mekpaks make it the best of the series IMO.
Mechwarrior Living Legends Mod to Crysis is also awesome.
Then there is MegaMek with is turn based strategy game which is based on Battletech boardgame.

And I've heard that Chrome Hounds is good game as well.

Gameplay-wise, none. But the PC port wasn't finished when Headfirst Productions went down and even though one or two developers managed to fix it there are some issues that the Xbox version doesn't have. I had zero problems on my last PC, but with my current one there are some graphical glitches.

I too want to know. DL the video trails off the PSN and looks awesome. You can make your town or/and house (forgot which one or both, sorry). Is it sandbox? How's the menu system? I read it was stupid but I rather have opinion from here.

Yes...gameplay is solid...story is laughable but adequate (if you like camp, then this will be a real treat!)...lots of replay value with the mercenaries mode...graphics were probably ahead of its time and still hold up well...it's still my favorite game, I think
