Unofficial DLC Discussion [spoilers] - Thread #2

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:14 am

Maybe we can find other Elder Scrolls to look at more stuff or something. All I want is for the expansion to either make some enemies or stores sell xbows.

Some of the details of existing quests might be related to discussion of DLC.

Just remember to use spoiler tags.

1. War with thalmor. We could fight em in skyrim, a whole new land mass, or even cyrodiil/ morrowind(they're in the game, just need textures and what not). I like the idea of a story arch leading up to another great war, like the whole lonesome road thing in FONV.

2. Some kind of castle. As a console player, this is on the top of my list. I dont care how its put in the game, via a stand alone dlc(some will complain even though they dont have to buy it), or at the end of a huge expansion, or a stand alone dlc put out inbetween the release of several huge expansions to make the wait not as bad(every ones happy then). I'd want it to have lots of cool stuff, not take a billion loading screans to get to, and have lot of expensive upgrades. I need a place to dump all the useless cash I have right now.

3. Add ons for the guilds/other stories. The thalmor thing could add more to the civil war, and even the DB, you could find out who takes place of that big important person you killed(I still dont know how to do spoiler tags, but, come on, every one should know what that means by now, if you still dont, pm me, or play the quest line). The mages guild in this game was way to short, and Id like to see more of the psigics. The companions could use a little more fleshing out, same with the dark brother hood. I was happy with the amount of Thieves Guild content, but I could allways use more.

4. More NPC dialog. If you've played the game, I dont need to say any more. The only people who react/ say anything to what I do are the guards.

Any thing els they roll out, Im sure I'll like. But this stuff( epecialy 2 and 4!!) I realy want.

They need to step up and do what valve seems to have been considering doing: Take the most popular quest/new area/companion mods (since I doubt consoles could handle the graphics ones, and those that alter the games options might cause too many problems) and modify them to port as DLC to consoles. Instead of full priced (ie $10) dlc, these would be released at between $1 and $5, depending on how long/big the dlc is just to compensate beth for taking the time to convert the mods for us. Basically a work around, since MS/sony doesn't have a way for us to mod the game ourself (though why devs cant make things like Halo's forge I don;t understand. If anyone know why I really appreciate it). This would of course be IN ADDITION to the 4-5+ DLC they will likely make for this game and those DLC would (preferably) be released 1-2 months appart and their releases would have nothing to do with that of the mods. Though I doubt this would happen, but it would be amazing. Then beth would be the first company to make DLC (and one of the only ones to make GOOD, worthwhile DLC along with rockstar and a handful of other games) AND the first to bring mods to console gamers!

That be cool, as a 360 player, Id want that a lot. But, the problem is, they would have to patch the mods to make them work for the consoles, so they'd have to pay people to do that, plaus they'd have to pay to keep the service up. Which means we would have to either pay for the service, or the mods themselves. Which means bethesda would have to pay the makers of the mods, and that wont happen.

Its lawsuits waiting to happen, so holding your breath for something like that is probly not worth it.

That doesnt mean I wont anyway.

I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a DLC involving Lamae Beolfag and the Volkihar, which does a revamp of the Vampire player experience. Doesn't make much sense for them to make concept art of Lamae Beolfag, and to not include her in the game.

conflict with Thalmor preferrably, regardless of civil war outcome.

also, expansion into Cyrodill or Morrowind provinces, though if this isn't made in DLC it will likely be made in mods.

I would like to see expansion into both Morrowind and Cyrodil involving the Thalmor. Perhaps in a series of DLC we will move beyond Skyrim to fight the Thalmor threat, first in Morrowind then eventually taking the charge to the white tower where we reunite the empire against the Thalmor.

Besides that, a castle of my own would be nice (maybe even connected to a new town so that I'm a Jarl?) and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more armor and weapon types. Maybe if they bump my level cap up, too, I could actually do the Wolf Queen stuff.

These would be mine:

Dragon Shout that, depending on which word you shout on, allows
- Sprint much faster temporarily
- Jump the height of an average house temporarily
- Survive any fall temporarily

More gay couples in Skyrim, as I shouldn't be the only one in the entire region. Not very immersive that way

A brain and some balls for the butt-hert child-minds who take down my threads for no good reason.

And, of course, more places, quests, enemies, gear, NPCs, etc.

I think you missunderstood. The money the mod would cost would be lower because they'd just be to cover the conversion (turning the "mod" into DLC). Sure they'd have to get permission for the mod creator, but I highly doubt they'd pay them. Odds are the creator would be glad to let them put it out there officially, since the mods are free for PC anyways. If said creator refused without payment, then it wouldn't be made. Also, it wouldn't be a service either. Only a select FEW mods would be converted, likely the most popular quest/area related mods the community made and there would likely only be between 3-5 mods converted total anyways. All they'd need is a minor fee for the conversion so they aren't loosing money (hence the $1 (for something that just adds a quest or two, or a companion) to $5 (for ones that add new locations and related quests, such as the Mannits project or whatever it was called for Fallout 3, to use an example). Those mods that take more time, effort, and money to convert will cost more but never as much as full priced DLC since they will never be as big.

Its a lot simpler than you seem to think it is. Too bad its unlikely devs will attempt this, which irritates me as it is a great idea and an easy way to help push more copies. They might even be able to get MS to back them monitarily for timed exclusive (sorry, I only have a 360, so if something is exclusive even temporarily I need it to be for 360) as I'm sure they'd jump at such a new and likely impactful idea.

Like i said before the dlc will be a little massive at first like an expansion with its own new area or a set of new little area to explore dealing with the aldmeri dominion.

Return of the dwemer the dwemer return to tamriel, but not all of them are freindly. you must help the freindly dwemer defeat the evil ones and rebuild their society. when/if tes6 is made the dwemer could then be a playable race

Nucyrod - the Middle Dawn, where the Dragon broke. There you can see the Jills of Akatosh. And there's Cathnoquey, where an anachronistic isle has the mothmen (the Reman Dynasty imprisoned them in palindrome). Or maybe we can go to the moon, and see the secret Khajiit colonies and the True Mane (3rd moon). The Thalmor might not like it given the horrible truths it reveals, though.

THIS! THIS, THIS, THIS!!!!! Make it happen beth!

I was disappointed at the lack of any lovecraft reference (unless I just missed it) in the game, besides I'd love another tooth-n-nail, fight-for-your-life type DLC like Dead money (even though beth didn't make that). At the bell tower part I barely made it out of there! Even if the DLC isn't that level of difficulty, I'd still love a horror themed one. The main game was too lacking in horror...

I am still convinved that the archway near Stendaar's Beacon is related to a DLC. Here is hoping that we can visit Vvardenfell again! *crosses fingers*

Seems unlikely, tbh...
Well, there are four paved roads to other provinces, two to Morrowind and two to Cyrodill. Maybe they're there just there for completeness (but why no road to High Rock or Hammerfell?) maybe some specific places in other provinces will be visited again.

The isle or "pocket plane" solution is the simplest because it can be made as small or big as budget and time constraints dictate, from a developer point of view.

West Morrowind as an expansion seems plausible to me... It's isolated from the rest of the province by sea and the Jerral mountains south. One big city (Blacklight) and an area roughly 1/5 of Skyrim. Two roads (the one past Stendarr beacon and the other past refugees tower) leading to it.

But also the Bruma - Chorrol area could be a candidate. That will explain why they put so much detail into the LOD terrain south of Skyrim. That's the only point from which the white gold tower would be visible. It's not visible from anywhere else... not even from the Throat of the World. (I tried clearing the skyes completely with the console to see how far I would see into Cyrodil from there) Again, two paved road leading to this area already in place.

Well... where to begin?

I don't want to see cyrodil or morrowind again. Would of liked to see something on/in/around akavir.
But instead how about wrapping up some of the story? A new war on the horizon? A new empire/emperor?
Some continuation/closure on the College questline. How is the dragonborn's story going to end? What becomes of the blades?

I would love to visit Hammerfell or atleast a smaller part of it. Seeing the Alik'r Warriors was pretty cool the way they dress, those curved blades etc.
would definetly like to see what wonder's lay in that land.
Heck maybe your over there trying to bring them back into the empire/unite with the liberated skyrim, to take on the rapidly approaching dominion bent on conquering the divided lands of man.
Recovering the lost secrets of Sword Singing? Vampire Clan's? werewolves got a storyline and support club. Why not give vampires and place to belong.

New shouts, New dragons? the ressurected dragons didn't just stay in skyrim right? a few would of atleast crossed the borders.
Maybe with dragonkind's thirst for conquering they've made a few thalmor friends.
I'm not too sure but maybe they've effectivly wrapped the whole Dragon storyline up.

im not sure how credible this is but im really hoping we get to return to some of the other provinces. a lot of people seem to think its likely because of some thing that a certain PC player discovered with noclip here's the link to the article again im not sure how credible this is http://www.insidegamingdaily.com/2011/11/22/player-uncovers-entirety-of-tamriel-in-skyrim/

"ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big,"

your link doesn't specifically say what he meant by that my friend. your just making an assumption as are we all. the quote is from the article you linked implies there going to add more but not just add more but make the game itself better. while the other provinces are unlikely its still strange that they would add the imperial city and structures from the other provinces if they weren't going to use them. they normally just have untextured areas go on forever with nothing attached but they took time to add the imperial city and other structures.
