Unofficial DLC Discussion [spoilers] - Thread #2

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:29 am

Despite what Bethesda says I'd say the game isn't big enough. Oblivion is bigger in terms of land mass, (Cyrodill + Shivering Isles). We deserve a DLC with the scale of Shivering Isles for a game like Skyrim. So I'm hoping they add Morrowind or Cyrodill since they already have a incredibly detailed version of them both in the game(for distant land. Cyrodill even has part of the White gold tower already. I wouldn't mind exploring a volcanoe damaged Morrowind, seems like a pretty entertaining expansion to me. Most likely its going to involve the Aldmeri Dominion though, I heard rumors about Elswer being a possible location for DLC. Makes sense since it is a Dominion client state.

I want a DLC bigger then both shivering isles or bloodmoon,About the same size as them.
And i bet the DLC will have to do something about the Thalmor.

I wouldn't mind additional content within the existing landmass. But I'm with the rest of you in thinking we're gonna have to suit up to kill loads more thalmor. It's not a really good day in Skyrim until a group of thalmor have been wiped out. Plus why do the have an embassy if there's no one in it?

I would like to see something that adds complexity to the world.

Like: Progress in quests have effects on the world and how people reacts.

Like: "vs quests" that can be done solo or in cooperation with other factions.

For example:

"Vs the Thalmor", (or helping the thamor) The Thalmor must be driven out from skyrim and their evil plans layed bare for the empire to see. Potential Allies: either the blades led by Delphine, (Questline begins when Esbern is assasinated by Thalmor agents) or the stormcloaks (or a less racist Talos cult). If you are an elf, you get the option to help the Thalmor and becomes the enemy of both the blades, the stormcloaks and Talos worshippers in general.

"Vs the Dark brotherhood". You thought you destroyed the dark brotherhood? Only locally. A quest starts with an assassination attempt and the dragonborn goes up against the Cyrodiil gang operation out of their new HQ in Bruma. You travel there for the climactic final showdown.

etc.

I think the DLC will include:

Thalmor storyline
Daedric storyline
Something (I dont know what though) for the empty/usless room that is in each house.

As Todd said, the world is large enough as it is, so they will aim to improve the game instead of adding more landmass. With that in mind, I think, and hope, that they will add new weapon types (an exotic weapons skill tree maybe?), new spells (maybe even a new spell school), and a new guild or two.

Why would they do that when the PC community is already doin it as we speak?

Why not just give us horse armor for 10$!

Oh, and for the love of Talos, PLEASE let the DLC include hotter chicks who are marryable. Muiri is the ONLY semi-hot chick in the game who is marriage material. Oh, and the gal who worked at the Inn in Windhelm (who was part of Blood on Ice) was hot too.

DLC: The Thalmor should be addressed. We shiould have a choice in:

A) Majorly crippling them
B) Aiding them

I think Nordic culture should also be fleshed out even more. Shor could make an appearance

Oh, and the resurrection of Winterhold would also be pretty cool. Maybe we could find out how the city REALLY collapsed.

Ive been thinking a similar thing, wouldnt it be great if winterhold rose from beneath the waves, filled with a populace of soggy draugr. TES has always been lovecraftian and that idea would be spot on!

I glitched outside of the map during Meridia's quest and sky-walked my way to a very very unrendered, undetailed white-gold tower.... I wonder why that's there...

For those people saying it will not be any new landmass i dont believe that,They also said themself that the dlc will be bigger then shivering isles and fallout dlcs + it will be more "meatier" and bigger Expansions!
Didnt they say that they are focusing on more big dlcs and not small ones? so expansions will take a while to be released

I really, really hope they introduce some high level monsters to the level tables. I've reached level thirty and nothing gives me any trouble any more (on Expert). In Oblivion there were many high level monsters like land dreughs, minotaurs and the high end daedra.

So hopefully in the DLC we'll start seeming some interesting, deadly enemies (and not just tougher versions of existing ones) to put some challenge back into the game.

I order to please BootySweat ( btw, is that nickname inspired of Tropical Thunder? it's one of my all times favorite movies  ) I will, more or less, repost what I wrote in a previous topic.

Bringing back armors that appeared in previous TES games, like the:

- The Imperial Templar armor : http://images.uesp.net/9/91/MW_TemplarArmor.jpg

and

-The Indoril armor : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW_IndorilArmor.jpg

I guess the Indoril wouldn't appear anymore since the whole Vivec deal is pretty much over, but I still wonder why we haven't see more of those Imperial Legion armors variety in Skyrim, maybe it's the lack of factions?

And what about the other armors? the Adamatium, Dreugh, Bonemold? or even the Wolf & Bear armors from Bloodmoon, pretty strange those two didn't appear since it was set in the same Nord/Viking atmosphere, and not impossible to make in Skyrim.

I would love to see something to spend extra dragon souls and gold on, maybe perk point for every 10 dragon souls, or something like that.

I play exclusively in 3rd person and would like to see some changes in that department. Hard to RP when my Dragon born has no face or gloves, unless your going for the hole ghost face killer thing. (put arch mage robes on with a dragon priest mask) On the same topic id like to be able to see my off hand sword when its sheathed, instead of having it appear out of thin air. Im aware these are minor things, but they take away from the immersion.

More depth within the Npcs. This is my first TES game, but i can sure as hell say the characters in this game are bland compared to your fallout games. At least in fallout NPC's would respond to the things youve done within the world. I am the DRAGONBORN and guards still tell me to "keep your hands to yourself sneak thief" I just saved your crummy little town from a dragon, how about a little respect?

Colour font for rare/unique/enchanted/quest items. this would be a neat little function, easyer to classify/ store your items, when everything is in white font its easy to missplace or sell something you may have wanted to hang on to. (thieves guild armor shows up in quest colour font)

More spells, Weapons, and Armour

Newly introduced skills, Cooking, Chronology, Hunting, Exploration. (just some examples)

and last but not least, a new landmass to explore.

I really can't wait for the DLC, I've been very fond of the direction Bethesda has taken expansions and downloadable content in the recent years.

I'm looking forward to such gems as a series of mysterious houses and properties that are given to the player by unknown parties with unknown motives (very mysterious!), as well as a way to protect my trusty steed whilst rendering him mortal and vulnerable. Perhaps a questline which only morally scrupulous characters can access, maybe mix it up so that you can only play through the DLC if you sided with the Imperials AND the Blades. If you sided with the Stormcloaks you'll be given an opportunity to admit how wrong you were and switch allegiance (lawl who plays Stormcloaks anyway!) but if you sided with Paarthurnax then tough luck pilgrim!.

I'm also really stoked for the opportunity to start from scratch for the duration of the DLC, because all the gear and skills that contribute to my characters backstory just weigh me down, I'd rather leave that all behind anyway, and it's good that I have the choice taken away from me because I just cant trust myself these days!

But the best bit is I really feel as though I'm exploring new grounds with these DLCs, like a fresh start because none of my previous actions are ever acknowledged by the added NPCs (or the existing ones LAWL, except for the guards - they seem really switched on to current events, such as when I spent 30 minutes sneaking unseen into the wedding of the Emperor's cousin, before ending her life unseen from the balcony!).

Atmora!

Yeah, it might be a frozen wasteland, but there are plenty of ways to make it interesting.

Or, like my last idea, explore more of Sovernguard, or Orsinium.

In terms of dream DLC (unlikely to happen), I would like to see The Great War 2, or Black Marsh, or Elsweyr.

I really hope that something along the lines of FO Broken Steel will come along. I want the consequences of my actions in the main quest to be translated to the real world. I want the side I chose in the War to actually make progress. I don't need a new area to be satisfied, just expand on the one they made so far, because it is rather lackluster.

Walk the path of Talos and put a Dragonborn back on the Imperial throne?!

The natives of the Reach and the Forsworn need some lovin', too.

And kill Thalmor, and stuff.

Sorry, I started a thread last night without realising this one was here!

From that post: Thinking back on Tribunal and Knights of the Nine which covered religious elements, I wonder (and hope) whether we might get DLC concerning Talos choosing the main character as his avatar. I know it would be easiest with the Stormcloaks but considering certain quests among the Dark Brotherhood, I could see how it would be useful and timely for the Imperials.

It's just an idea of course. If it were available, would anyone else be interested? Related ideas? I always feel bad when I come across the shrines in the middle of nowhere - one was horrible for the slaughter of its worshippers.

Just a prediction/speculation, but I think the DLC will be accessible as soon as your character exits Helgen, or if your character has exhausted every questline. With the amount of variables in players' save games, I can't see there being any pre-requisies at all for starting the DLC.

It will probably be like Point Lookout or The Pitt, where you go to a point on the map and after a loading screen you're in a new place.
